I’m still holding out hope for Rubio. He appeals to younger & female voters and I think he’d be the strongest general election, genuinely conservative candidate. He beats Hillary by a substantial margin in this latest poll in a very blue state.
“The Minnesota Poll on the 2016 presidential race is out, and its results will be shocking to some. On the Republican side, opinion is split: Marco Rubio leads with 23% and Ted Cruz is second with 21%. But in a general election matchup, Rubio wallops Clinton by nine points, 49-40.
“It’s no fluke: 52% of Minnesotans disapprove of Hillary, so she is eminently beatable here. …. ”

Although I still wouldn’t put any money on Hillary necessarily winning the Dem nomination at this point. Bernie’s amazingly popular with the “real” left and with younger voters. I don’t see a lot of enthusiasm over Hillary, my sense is that her candidacy’s increasingly leaving a lot of Democrats yawning at best.
Donna J, I prefer Cruz, but could live with Rubio. I think Rubio would have the best chance of winning in November. However, I have this nagging feeling that Rubio is basically Little Bush with a tan. The one difference is that Rubio isn’t from a wealthy family and thus doesn’t have the rich man’s guilt that made people like the Kennedys, Bushes, FDR and Carter support welfare programs.
I could live with Cruz — if I had to. I’ve just not been fond of him and don’t think he’d be a strong enough general election candidate. People seem to have a visceral (negative) reaction to him.

Wow, the Iowa caucus is only a week away. Then it’ll be a whirlwind.
I saw a large Bernie display on a street corner in downtown L.A. yesterday — I’m telling you, all the liberals/strong Democrats I know are really getting ramped up about him. His are the only bumper stickers I’ve seen so far and the popping up more and more. I sense some momentum going on.
I hear no one talking about Hillary now — other than in the most ho-hum of terms.
For what it’s worth, from out here on the far, far left coast.
I had fun today at church. I have a good friend who is a 32 year old female psychologist who helps teach our youth Sunday School. I figured I could get a good reaction by asking if she was going to be Trump’s County Chairman. She responded with a diagnosis that Trump had a serious personality disorder. Everyone resolved to try not to watch the farce. Sweet Meteor O’Death is gaining support.
