¹Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.
2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.
4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.
5 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.
6 Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord God of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.
7 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.
8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.
9 For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.
11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.
12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.
13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O Lord, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.
14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.
15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.
16 Hear me, O Lord; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.
17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.
This is turning out to be a hard year for many people I’ve known for years.
Yesterday a dear lady I know who is the mom of children (now adults) I used to babysit for was transported to her local hospital, then transferred to a larger hospital in the state with what was suspected to be an aneurysm.
Larger hospital says it’s not an aneurysm, but she has a broken blood vessel. It is critical and they will be keeping her in ICU for at least a week.
The good news is that she can talk, and knows everyone.
Please pray for Carol, her husband Dave, and their children and grandchildren.
I should also add in with that that my brother and sister-in-law, R and T, are good friends with Carol and Dave. Those two couples, along with my mom and dad and one other couple in their neighborhood have been meeting once a month for most months of the year for many years now — their neighborhood card club group.
R & T have been through so much in the last couple months, with their daughter’s car accident, discovery of her brain cyst, T’s (possible) breast cancer scare, which turned out negative with her two biopsies. Then losing their close friend Jody, and now this with Carol.
The total load they are bearing with all that’s been happening with friends and their own immediate family health, and my parents’ health issues, too (they live next door) has been a lot lately. If you think of them, please pray for them, too.
Please pray for Elizabeth. She has a full-blown case of severe hives with pain and itching. She’s the 6 year old who survived the accident and remembers every little detail. The doctor says it’s from all the stress her little body/mind is under from all that she has to process. Her sister’s funeral was yesterday. Please continue to pray for the whole W family as mom is still in hospital.
Join me in praise, as well. God has worked wonders here as the two fourteen year olds are flourishing. Both are busy on positive tracks. Both are cheerful in a more sincere way than in the past. Both are not showing signs of buried anger. We are very optimistic at this time.
Last year was a bit of a hard year for us (particularly my husband) and this year isn’t starting out any easier. He already said he can’t wait to see December 31, 😦 and that isn’t a very good sign. So if you could pray that some of the things he is pouring his heart into would actually come together (for example, a big one, that our church could get a pastor), that would be great.
We do see some ways to have several small vacations this year, without costing very much money, so that could be a wonderful help to him. But he needs strength for the daily challenges that are sapping him.

6 Arrows, that is an awful lot. May God give them some rest from new sorrows and scares.

Lots of hard things to pray for.
