There should be no bank too big to fail and no individual too big to jail,” Hillary Clinton told moderators during the first hour of the Democrat presidential debate Sunday. Within seconds, the remark was tweeted out to the former secretary of state’s five-plus million Twitter followers. The first-responders hit that slow ball out of the park.
Strange this should come up on Drudge the same day:
The Pentagon is considering retroactively demoting retired Gen. David Petraeus after he admitted to giving classified information to his biographer and mistress while he was still in uniform, three people with knowledge of the matter told The Daily Beast.
The decision now rests with Secretary of Defense Ash Carter, who is said to be willing to consider overruling an earlier recommendation by the Army that Petraeus not have his rank reduced. Such a demotion could cost the storied general hundreds of thousands of dollars—and deal an additional blow to his once-pristine reputation.
I’ll have to admit I’m not even sure what the Oscars are – is that the one for the best movie stuff? If so, we never (never, ever) go to the movies, so for sure I wouldn’t care about them.
I used to watch the Oscars — when I saw a lot of movies in my younger days. Now, the show just seems too self-congratulatory, a chance to say “see how beautiful and clever and rich we all are” to the little people out there watching. 🙂 Plus I see too few of the movies to feel invested in who wins or doesn’t.
They’re also more political now — although there was the Indian/Native American — what was her name? — who stood in for Marlon Brando that one year so long ago to make a statement. 🙂
A friend on Facebook shared this article which says the stories of men pretending to be trans-women in order to get into a ladies restroom are false. Does anyone know of any actual reports of such a thing happening? Here’s the article the friend shared. . .
(for those who didn’t know — like me — hathos means: Feelings of pleasure derived from hating someone or something. —hathotic adj. an effortless blend of hate and pathos.

I have never watched the Oscars. Was I boycotting or just apathetic?

Same as me, Linda.
I’ve never seen an Oscar show. I can’t imagine why someone would care.

Linda – Yes, the Oscars (the “nickname” for the Academy Awards) is for movies.

I’m not especially hopeful about this campaign the more it unfolds. 😦
But if you like watching politics as a spectator sport, it won’t be dull.
