  1. Sounds like maybe a good book:

    _________________
If You Can Keep It is at once a thrilling review of America’s uniqueness, and a sobering reminder that America’s greatness cannot continue unless we truly understand what our founding fathers meant for us to be. The book includes a stirring call-to-action for every American to understand the ideals behind the “noble experiment in ordered liberty” that is America. It also paints a vivid picture of the tremendous fragility of that experiment and explains why that fragility has been dangerously forgotten—and in doing so it lays out our own responsibility to live those ideals and carry on those freedoms. Metaxas believes America is not a nation bounded by ethnic identity or geography, but rather by a radical and unprecedented idea, based upon liberty and freedom. It’s time to reconnect to that idea before America loses the very foundation for what made it exceptional in the first place.

  2. Here is husband’s next letter to the editor:

During a Roll Call interview regarding President Obama’s executive actions on guns, Representative Nancy Pelosi said, “The safety of the American people is an oath we take — to protect and defend them. And their safety is very important to us.” Her oath contains nothing about protecting American citizens. Her oath of office is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

The Constitution defines and guarantees our FREEDOMS – not our safeguards. Ok, I will correct that statement somewhat, it does delineate some safeguards for us – safeguards from an over-reaching federal government. The Constitution and her oath of office are designed to constrain her actions.

With Rep. Pelosi’s assertion that Congress is responsible for legislating our safety there is no limit to the size and/or scope of the federal government. How do you define safety? How safe is ‘safe enough’? And, safe from what/whom? If we were to accept Rep. Pelosi’s claim she would be free to invalidate the entire Bill of Rights.

Rep. Pelosi has been serving in the House of Representatives for 29 years. She has taken the oath of office at least 14 times. Are we to believe she still has a fundamental misunderstanding of her role in government? No, she hopes that if she tells this lie often enough people will believe it.

Actually, her claim is a blatant power grab to justify unconstitutional intrusion into our daily lives. Don’t fall for it.

As Benjamin Franklin stated, ”Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither.”

  3. Donna, I(4:14) noticed that. That reveals that Trump obviously knows nothing about the Bible, but neither does his advisers. He has never associated with Biblical savvy people.

But Trump and God are good buddies. It’s what he says.

  4. A conversation in our home: What is an Ivanka? It is either one of his wives or one of his kids or the last Studebaker ever produced.

  5. Listening to Russell Moore tonight on CNN who suggested that the evangelical Christian voting block is now split into 3 groups & the largest — the angry, frustrated group — is so far liking Trump.

(2nd group being — if I remember right — the more policy-focused conservative voter and the 3rd group being the “wearing it on our sleeve” voter who won’t vote for any candidate who’s not a bonafide evangelical Christian.)
