Just so you don’t think your tax dollars are only going to fight ISIS:
As part of continuing support from the United States to the government and the people of Nigeria to defeat Boko Haram, the U.S government today donated 24 Mine-Resistant Armor-Protected (MRAP) vehicles (valued at $11 million) to Nigeria’s military authorities.
“These vehicles provide increased protection from improvised explosive devices, roadside bombs, and small arms fire, while offering more maneuverability and better fuel economy than other types of armoured personnel carriers,” the U.S. Defense Attache to Nigeria Colonel Patrick Doyle, said.
The U.S. government donated the armoured vehicles through the Excess Defense Articles Program. The Nigerian military arranged for transportation from the port to Lagos. Nigeria is in the process of receiving an additional eight more MRAPs through this program, valued at approximately $7.4million.
The Excess Defense Articles Program is designed to transfer excess military equipment from the United States to foreign governments or international organisations to help with modernisation of partner nation military capabilities.
Through a similar program, the U.S. Government donated to the Nigerian Navy the NNS Okpabana in 2014 and NNS Thunder in 2012. The two ships have bolstered maritime security in Nigeria.
Today’s equipment donation represents part of the continuing U.S. commitment to Nigeria and its neighbors to counter Boko Haram’s senseless acts of terror and promote regional security.
The United States provides advisors, intelligence training, logistical support, and equipment to its African partners as they work to defeat Boko Haram. The US also support those affected by Boko Haram’s violence through ongoing humanitarian aid and victim support services. The United States said it would “continue working with our partners in the region to identify new opportunities to restore order in the Lake Chad Basin region.”
That is from The News, in Nigeria. What do you think?
The children were removed Nov 16 and it is now too traumatic to return them? I think not. It is far more traumatic for them to be removed from their birth parents and separated from their siblings and put up for adoption with no evidence of misconduct on the part of the parents. Those children are bonded with their parents. The State has disrupted the bond for the littlest one and done him great damage. They need to support the family and pay for the babies ongoing messed up life for the duration. Not going to happen.
“Law enforcement officials lost control of the situation in Cologne on New Year’s Eve, according to an internal report by Germany’s national police, the Bundespolizei, obtained by DER SPIEGEL. The author of the report, dated Jan. 4, is a senior official. He writes: “Women, accompanied or not, literally ran a ‘gauntlet’ through masses of heavily intoxicated men that words cannot describe.” The horde in front of and inside the train station was unmoved by the presence of police.
According to the report, officers encountered many distraught, crying, frightened pedestrians, particularly women and girls. They reported “fights, thefts, sexual assaults against women, etc.” Groups of male migrants were repeatedly named as perpetrators.
Identifying those responsible — especially the perpetrators of sexual assaults — “was unfortunately no longer possible.” The reason: “Security forces were unable to get all of the incidents, assaults, crimes, etc. under control. There were simply too many happening at the same time.” Police were frustrated at their inability to help each victim. At times, it wasn’t even possible to record all of the complaints that were being lodged.
The report lists several examples of police officers’ experiences:
Officers were hindered from pushing their way through to people calling for help by tight clusters of men.
A man is quoted as saying: “I’m a Syrian! You have to treat me kindly! Mrs. Merkel invited me.”
Witnesses were threatened when they provided the names of perpetrators.”
“Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf… New Year’s Migrant Sex Assault In Every Major German City
“German capital city Berlin has joined the sad parade of cities touched by migrant sex violence on New Year’s Eve, with hundreds of assaults now reported to police in Cologne and other cities.
Although on a smaller scale to the unrestrained and un-policed sex attacks in Cologne, the Berliner Morgenpost has now reported on assaults taking place on the street “in front of the Brandenburg gate”.
The revelation may prove difficult for the German media, which until now has stressed in most reports on the new year’s rapes that Berlin was not caught up in the scandal.
The paper reports four separate incidents around the cite, including a tourist being sexually assaulted by a group of “three to five men”, and two women being “sexually harassed” by men from Pakistan and Iraq.
Another woman came forward to police on Tuesday following national press coverage of the migrant rape scandal to report being “touched” at a music event by “several immoral men”.
More analagous to the Cologne attacks were events in Hamburg, where groups of “southern or Arab appearance” men aged between 20 and 40 sexually assaulted dozens of women.”
——————————————–
And I’ll give the NYTimes credit for not ignoring this.
“German authorities said on Tuesday that coordinated attacks in which young women were sexually harassed and robbed by hundreds of young men on New Year’s Eve in the western city of Cologne were unprecedented in scale and nature.
The assault, which went largely unreported for days, set off a national outcry after the Cologne police described the attackers as young men “who appeared to have a North African or Arabic” background, based on testimony from victims and witnesses. More than 90 people have filed legal complaints, the police said on Tuesday.”
The police in Hamburg also said that 10 women had reported being sexually assaulted and robbed in a similar fashion on the same night, and they urged witnesses to come forward.”
A friend of mine posted this earlier on FB and this was my response:
You know, years ago, the 1970s before the fall of the Shah, Iranian pilots were being trained at an Air Force base in Texas. They all had to be reined in one day for a lecture on how to treat American women. Having seen many US movies, they assumed all American women were interested in sex with strangers and would routinely proposition every one they met when they left base.
Given, some of this attitude was them, but the author of the story I read on this commented that US “culture” consumed abroad didn’t do American women any favors, either. frown emoticon
Apparently they’ve been watching German TV and movies then too.
This has more to do with their general attitude that women are property, have no rights, and are inferior, and their barbarous religion, than it does with their media consumption. It’s no different than what’s going on in the middle east, though on a much smaller scale.
I suspect it has to do with a dim view of western culture. Hence, the mandate to rid everybody of western education. And maybe a little something with some of the clerics and other leaders telling them they are to go forth and have children with the westerners.
“On Thursday, CNN will host a town hall with President Obama as part of his “final-year push to make gun control part of his legacy.” In addition to sitting down with liberal anchor Anderson Cooper, the network says Obama will “take questions from the audience.”
Uh-oh. Get out your best pruning shears and trowels. In an age of micromanaged partisan stagecraft and left-wing media enablers, there is no such thing as a spontaneous question.
CNN has a long history of allowing political plants to flourish in its public forums.
At the cable station’s Democratic debate in Las Vegas in 2007, moderator Wolf Blitzer introduced several citizen questioners as “ordinary people, undecided voters.” But they later turned out to include a former Arkansas Democratic director of political affairs, the president of the Islamic Society of Nevada, and a far left anti-war activist who’d been quoted in newspapers lambasting Harry Reid for his failure to pull out of Iraq.”
Michelle, I was mortified by the American film that was playing as we flew from Brussels to West Africa. It certainly gave the impression that Western women wanted sex. That perception of Western women was perpetuated by the tourists which came to the country. In the tourist section, one regularly saw middle-aged European women walking hand in hand with young men of the country. It was as common a sight as middle-aged European men walking hand in hand with young women of the country. I witnessed a negotiation between a European man, a pimp, and his prostitute the first evening in the country. When one considers the amount of sex tourism that places like Thailand get from Western men, we don’t look any better than any other civilization. As a result of that perception, I was regularly approached and propositioned by men whenever I was in the tourist section. Outside the tourist section, men might offer to marry me, but didn’t proposition for another type of relationship (with the exception of someone who lived in the tourist section and was visiting the village). I could walk alone in the village and even traveled across the river by myself without experiencing harassment. I knew several single women missionaries who lived alone amongst the people without fearing sexual assault.
Something is odd about the Cologne story. The men are described as being drunk. If they were, then they certainly weren’t good Muslims.
Some Muslims drink, some heavily, when they leave Islamic lands, others don’t. Some Brits behave when they are on tours, others don’t. Some Americans behave overseas, some don’t. Some countries close their beaches to Brits and/or Americans, some don’t.
