  1. And here’s a long one with background on the Hammonds & their problems with the federal government. A while back, World had an article about this kind of thing, & how ranchers are being driven off their land.

Elsewhere I have read that the Hammonds are not involved in the occupation, & did not ask for protection. Some large militia groups have come out against the occupation.

  2. Its all the rage on the left side of the Internet as they compare the media reportage to how they cover Muslims and black groups. Personally, I wonder if the left will take some lessons from this group — can you imagine Black Lives Matter marching with an escort of open carry Black Panthers through federal gov’t buildings??

When Michelle mentioned on the 31st that everyone was doing what was right in their own eyes, I thought to contradict her with the general decline of crime as indicated by stats and research. However, she may have a point after all.

  3. HRW – I just finished reading something from Matt Walsh that mentioned the left’s reaction. (I usually don’t read or share things from him because I think his sarcasm is off-putting to those who disagree with him, but this had some good points in it.)

“That said, liberals are full of it when they claim a “double standard” because these armed white protesters haven’t all been killed yet. Liberals all over social media have been claiming that if blacks or Muslims had pulled something like this, the cops would have come in guns blazing from the start. That’s nonsense, obviously. . . .black folks in Baltimore set fire to entire city blocks, looted, threw Molotov cocktails, and torched cop cars, and the police sat back and watched it happen. The mayor even declared that the looters should be given “space to destroy.” So, no, there is no white privilege here. We’ve seen blacks lay siege to populated cities while law enforcement stood to the side and twiddled their thumbs.”

Another point is that the buildings they have taken over were unoccupied, so there are no hostages. They’re pretty much in the middle of nowhere, in a bird sanctuary. But no, I don’t support what they are doing, although I have great sympathy for the Hammond family & what they have been through over the years.

  4. Hammonds turned themselves in right across the bridge in our harbor today, there’s a federal prison there where Manson and some others were “housed” through the years.

Not sure what I think about the occupation — as long as it remains peaceful, it’s an act of civil disobedience in my mind. If they shoot people, that’s another story.

But at some point they’ve got to figure out how to bring it to a peaceful end.

  5. I think the main difference is the weapons used and the threats made. I view it as an armed insurrection. Almost treasonous.

However, the left side of the internet is far more upset with the media coverage rather than the police response.
