Prayer Requests 12-24-15

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Luke 2:1-14

¹And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.

And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

  1. Please pray again for B and his family this Christmas. He is the 32 year old man dying of alcoholism complications this Christmas. His mom and stepdad are in town. I cannot begin to imagine what that mother is going through. My heart hurts for her.

  2. Addendum to my posts on yesterday’s daily thread:

Thank you for the many prayers that you all have offered up on my and my family’s behalf. When I first “met” you all in 2012 at WMB, I was coming off a year in which six significant people in my life had died (an aunt, an uncle, and four friends). You welcomed me warmly, and it made a difficult time in my life easier to bear.

Over the years, I made many prayer requests, and there are no words for me to adequately describe how much your prayers meant to me. They helped my family, too, who were blessed by God with stamina to pick up the slack where I fell short.

God used those prayers in such a way that, not only did our family survive the dark season, but in some ways, we thrived!

The grace of God is beyond amazing.

Please know that I will be praying for you and the needs you have expressed over the years. That is the least I can do to give back what you have done for me.

Love and blessings to you all in the year to come.

  3. We have invited Emily & Chrissy (& Forrest, of course) to join us for our church’s Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, from 5:00 to 6:00 this evening. Please pray that they will come, & most of all that their hearts will be touched by the Holy Spirit.

Maybe it sounds like a hokey Christian Christmas movie, but wouldn’t it be wonderful if my daughters got saved on Christmas Eve?

  4. Please pray for Chrissy’s eyes to be open to see the dysfunction in the McK family. (Of course, most of all that her eyes – & Emily’s eyes – be open to see the truth about Jesus.) And that her heart would turn back to her own family.

When I get around to catching up on other comments on the daily thread, I’ll write about why I’m asking this. Thank you.
