Prayer Requests 12-22-15

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 48

¹Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.

Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.

We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

10 According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

13 Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

14 For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.

  1. Stargazer is doing a ten-minute presentation at the local JC today, “Pluto, the Un-planet” for a hiring committee. They’re looking for an adjunct professor of Astronomy. He doesn’t want to teach, but is realizing it’s easier to get a job if you have a job.

Since they’ve bent over backwards to accommodate him, we’re hopeful; even for a part time contracted position.

He’s also had a good time putting together his talk. After 7 years of teaching on the college level, this was simpler than filling out myriads of applications!

  2. Our marketing manager at work had recently started dating a young man. It seems he is a severe alcoholic and suffered a bout of pancreatitis and alcohol poisoning. It led to respiratory distress and he had to be intubated which caused trauma to his lungs. He is currently sedated and on a ventilator. His parents came down from the Midwest. His doctors are not hopeful. What an awful things to happen to all concerned—especially as we know from Michelle’s blog and all who have responded to it.
Please pray for B, his family, and all who love/care for him.

  3. Praying Stargazer gets this job, Michelle. A nice foot in the door, it sounds to me.

Kim, that’s so sad. My alcoholic grandfather died of pancreatitis. Very hard for the family, and especially with one so young. 😦

  4. Husband and boys made it safely. They stopped by daughters’ house and learned that the damage to the car was much more extensive than seventeen year old had indicated. Her younger brother says, so that’s why she would not send me pictures. It is thought that she may have fallen asleep while driving. I suppose, if you are going to do that, hitting an empty parked car is probably best. It was over two thousand on the parked car, looks like it totaled ours. Which is not necessarily very much money.
