Prayer Requests 12-14-15

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 40

¹I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.

Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.

14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.

17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

  1. My fellow clarinetist Lynn is having surgery this morning at 10 CA time. This surgery is on her wrist and she will be out from playing at least 8 weeks–and playing music is her life.

Her shoulder started acting up yesterday and she’s worried the surgery may not fix the issue thus ending her playing. Her walk with God is uneven, she’s frightened and she’s feeling her age (72).

  2. Some pretty serious concerns on yesterday’s prayer thread.

My husband is out right now with our future son-in-law after most of us were up a good part of the night. He (the young man) seriously damaged his car when he didn’t see a median. As is true of pretty much any young man looking to marry, it’s an expense he can’t afford, and thus it really hit him hard. But the four of us spent a couple of hours in the middle of the night looking up Scriptures and reading to each other, and he found comfort and understood that we really do love him. They are out now to look at the car. We have already loaned him one of ours until he can get his fixed (the one his fiancee has been driving, so I assume we’ll be back to driving her to work for a few days).

We all need wisdom. I really had no idea how hard it could be to navigate this period with a daughter.

  3. Hubby is suppose to have eye surgery on Thursday. He is saying that if the deductible is too high he won’t do it. He really needs to have it done. He can’t get new glasses until it’s done and he is having to glue his back together every night now.

  4. kBells – Praying he’ll have the wisdom to go through with it. I understand your wifely concern, as Lee has put off a couple of those super-expense shots he’s supposed to have three or four times a year to combat his advanced prostate cancer. Fortunately, he is planning to get another one once our new health insurance is in effect. It’s hard as a wife to see our husbands neglect their health due to money concerns. 😦

  5. Prayers for a friend K — ran into her mom while I was out dropping off the dogs for grooming today and she’s having some psychological issues (which I knew — hadn’t heard from her in a while so I was worried). But the mom says she’s kind of “dropped out” and is now isolated (she still lives at home) — they’re in touch with a professional who wants to come over to spend a day with her, but K has been very resistant to the idea of any kind of medications.

Pray she’ll be open to at least trying some of that as a help — she’s very talented and is a hard worker, but there has been something amiss for a while, to be sure. 😦
