Prayer Requests 11-27-15

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 25

¹Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.

Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

11 For thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.

12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.

17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.

18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.

20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

  1. All of us, excepting Emily (who took a bunch of elderberry stuff when Forrest first got sick), have had this cold virus for three weeks or more. It came on slowly, then hit hard, & now is taking a long time to go away. Forrest seems to be getting sicker, & Lee is dealing with it while working, which is wearying to him (it’s the worst cold he’s had in years).

  2. Karen, elderberry is excellent as a flu preventative, protecting against, I believe I read, eight different strains of flu. (Much more than a flu vaccine.) It also shortens the duration of the flu if you take it after getting ill, helps relieve nasal congestion, has anti-cancer properties, and several other benefits. It’s fairly expensive, but if you can get your hands on more of the stuff, it would probably be very useful for your family to get you all through the winter.

  3. Big praises that my sister-in-law’s biopsies are both clear — benign.

Also, that niece (that SIL’s 16-year-old daughter) got the report back from her MRI last week. She has a fluid-filled cyst at the base of her brain / top of her spinal cord, and not a tumor.

We’re all so relieved at these reports, and very thankful.

Niece will be seeing a neurosurgeon on December 3, but, at this point, they think her cyst has stopped growing and probably won’t need any treatment for the time being. However, because it is fairly large, and may be the reason she has had headaches off and on for a couple of years, and backaches that have worsened some recently, after having been fairly mild since she started having them around age 11 or 12, it might need addressing at some point in the future. (The type of cyst she has typically doesn’t cause problems in childhood, but can start to be a problem in adolescence, and into adulthood.)

Still, though, we are relieved that neither SIL nor niece (my brother’s wife and daughter) have cancer.

  4. Yes, it is! Thank you, Karen. Lots of hugs at yesterday’s Thanksgiving gathering with my side of the family. A true blessing the day was. (We also got to Skype with youngest sister and her family, too, which was nice; it will be an even greater blessing when they can come for Christmas next month!)

Hope you’re all feeling well soon, Karen. Praying for you!
