  1. It’s FRIDAY!
    You know what that means?
No Lions today. Still in the holiday mode.
And the streets were empty this morning.
We saw two deer on the way home from the Y.
That isn’t good. They eat stuff you want to keep.

  2. Attention Black Friday Shoppers: Kindle Fire on sale for $34.99 toady! Also, there may be a used Kindle in great condition for sale when my Fire arrives. That is, if one of my children doesn’t claim it first.

And since it’s Friday, Chas needs his weekly comics. Here they are.

  3. That’s an amazing price for the Kindle fire Peter. I don’t have (or need) one, but if someone doesn’t have a tablet and wants one, that’s the price. 🙂

It’s off to work for me today — and because our office is right next door to our newly-remodeled gigantic shopping mall, there may be some traffic to contend with in getting there, at least in the last stretch.

We had some nice rain overnight, I’m hoping the Jeep looks better as a result.

  4. Peter, if you already have a Kindle, what is the advantage of the “Fire”?
I have a Kindle, buy I need a back light so I can read at night. My eyes need the help.
But I don’t buy anything for myself, starting about now, until after Christmas.
    We got IPhones last year.

  5. I love pretty Christmas trees. I found a wreath to go over the mantle the other day at Lowe’s but I got all twitchy at the cost, so I didn’t buy it. Mr. P was going to Lowe’s today for something else so I asked him to look at the wreath and see what he thought about it. He doesn’t get all twitchy when he spends money. I now have the wreath and will hang it later.
I got 4 small wreaths to go on the windows on the front of the house. I made red bows for them today. I haven’t found 2 wreaths to go on the front door yet.

  6. OK. I used two of the small wreaths on the front door. They are $4 at WalMart and I have the ribbon. I can buy 2 more and wait until after Christmas to buy something else when it is severely marked down. Now I can breathe.

  7. I found a great buy on the Oster 16 quart roaster oven on the company website. They have free shipping, too. Anyone in need of extra oven space for the special occasions might want to check it out.

  8. Man is it ever cold here! It snowed all day in the Springs….when I got home from work, it was noticeable that we did not have snow all day here at home….but it was just as cold as the Springs. We had a terrible event happening in the Springs while I was at work…a customer’s husband texted her about a shooter near a Planned Parenthood building…..three people were killed…many others injured….apparently it’s all over the national news outlets….tragic. The police officer who lost his life is a UCCS officer….that is where my daughter goes to school….

  9. It makes one wonder if all the shootings have to do with the push for gun control.

We just this week had a report of someone being held up at gunpoint (shotgun) at the intersection of our street and another street. 😦

  10. Thinking spiritually, I’m wondering if the shootings aren’t just part and parcel of the overall decline we see in the west (U.S. in particular) — a lawlessness that seems to have spread, a matter of God giving people over to the desires of their hearts (Rom. 1:24). 😦

  11. A FB friend (extremely liberally minded) lives close to the area where the shootings took place today. She ranted that the PP facility doesn’t even do abortions…only cancer screenings and paps….a friend of hers replied “even if they did, it’s legal and no one should be killed over it”….oh the irony 😦

  12. The refrain has begun: Christian terrorists, right-wing white extremists …

Still doesn’t seem to be much info about the guy — but the fact that he is 59 is odd in itself, not exactly fitting the usual profile in these cases. But he’s white & is from NC, the assumption (and it may be right, we’ll have to wait to see) that he’s pro-life (I know, irony) and that was his underlying motive is already pretty entrenched among the chattering class.

Other odd thing is hours after his arrest & public identification, virtually nothing substantial is being reported on this guy and who he was (the chatterers on social media already think they know, but I’m seeing nothing in news stories yet). You’d think something about him beyond his age and home state would have been dug up by now.

Oh well. I’m sure we’ll know more than we want to know about him over the next 24 hours.

My house is really cold and it’s 2 a.m., I was awakened with a jolt by an uncharacteristic and very realistic nightmare and just had to flip on some lights and get up for a while.
