  1. 🙂 Chuck, Brian and Caden are on the way from Greensboro to Columbia to see the Gamecocks beat the Gators. Chuck is Carolina, Brian is Florida.
    Brian is Becky’s husband.
    Caden is nine.
The Rave is that it’s good for Caden to be going out with the guys.
Females not allowed, Though Mary is Carolina and would have enjoyed it.

  2. 😦 Paris

😦 A President that cannot admit his favorite religion has many members who are the principal actors in world-wide terrorism.

😦 A media that lets him get away with it.

🙂 🙂 A God who is in control!

  3. 😦 Went to bed at 8:15, woke for good at 6. Calculated I’ve had 25 hours of sleep in last four days. At a loss, but functioning.

🙂 figured out something important for the book.

😦 too many family things to write . . .

    🙂 Gorgeous weather.

    😦 Still need rain.

    🙂 Gkd is trustworthy!

😦 New Ipad has worse spelling corrections than the old one . . . .

  4. 😦 Paris. Lord, have mercy.

🙂 Tree trimming job set to launch today, though no workers here yet (as of 7:30 a.m.).

🙂 Nice day off spent hanging out with my cousin yesterday, seeing a movie and having lunch out.

🙂 Beautiful weather. Dry, but cold and crisp in the mornings, warm (but not hot) during the days. Gorgeous blue skies. And I’ve been able to still hold out turning on the heater.

🙂 😦 “They” say that when El Nino hits it’ll be rain for days, one storm following in after the next.

    😦 My roof!? Eeek.

😦 The year moves too fast right around now — holidays almost upon us.

  5. 🙂 Some of you remember Designer Girl, our daughter, who used to be on the blog. She called with news the other day. I was silent waiting for bad news, which (as Chas has pointed out) seems to be the norm. Nope. Our daughter, who recently turned 41 is going to be a mother again. Surprise for us all, but a lovely one. She is due in June, but last time gave birth six weeks early. She tends to have gestational diabetes. All prayers are appreciated. She is fine, except for morning sickness right now. She told me God has an interesting sense of humor. 🙂

😦 Her husband is teaching as a year long substitute. Pray he gets a job in his new field (school counseling) and something permanent with benefits. Of course, God’s will be done.

  6. Congratulations kathaleena & DG! Yes, God can be funny. 🙂 And always good.

🙂 Tree trimmers are here. They’re doing the front & side of the house first — may start on the back later or tomorrow. It’ll have to be done in segments, there’s just too much.

😦 I’ll feel exposed without all the huge foliage around the front & side of my house.

  7. 😦 23-year-old college student from our area (and my alma mater) was among those killed in Paris.

🙂 Gardeners are making a lot of progress, it’s a jungle out there though. Noisy. And poor Tess is not taking it so well, I had 50 pounds of border collie planted across my shoulders on the back the sofa a few minutes ago. Poor girl. I was looking for the fireworks pills the vet gave us a couple years ago, but couldn’t find them — and they’ve probably expired anyway.

The only Benadryl I have is the generic supermarket brand and they’re capsules, I suppose that’s OK to give a dog (and might calm her down, I don’t know).

  8. OK, capsules are OK I guess, so I gave Tess one, Honestly, she’s vacillating between Cujo growling & drooling and “we’re all going to die NOW” terror, shoving her face into my armpit. 😦

  9. Annie’s bummed because I agreed with the gardner that they should take out the invasive flowering plant at the south side of the house — the one that attracts so many humming birds but that also takes over the roof and everything else in its path. It was her favorite “TV” show as it was right outside the side windows where her cat tree sits indoors.

And my beloved bougainvillea in front of my bedroom window is toast — they told me before hand that they’d take it down to a “hedge” size, which was good, but then they actually left it as a … stump. Oy. No more sleeping with the window open, I’m afraid, it was my buffer.

But it should grow back, they told me.

    Cowboy’s good.

But Tess was undone by it all, the noise and commotion just made her very anxious. 😦

  10. Jasmine? I think that was it. Sorry to see it go, but they were right, it’s way too high-maintenance.

So what should I plant in its place? Something tall, something that has color, but doesn’t require a ton of water and isn’t invasive?

  11. 😦 Bad cold.

😦 🙂 Babysitting Forrest today. (Please see prayer request on the prayer thread.) It’s gonna be a long day. But Forrest can be fun & endearing, so there will be an upside to it all.

  12. Karen, I have no personal experience with this but folks I respect (including Dave Ramsey) say that applying for jobs online is completely worthless. You have to wonder why a company would have such a process and then not use it, but that’s the scoop. Word is, as was mentioned above, that getting a job today requires a personal “inside” connection.

  13. Linda – Lee & I talked a bit after I told him what you’d written. He is now planning on going to each place he wants to apply at, & asking to speak with a manager. He will be dressed professionally, of course. Thank you for the heads up.
