  1. Yesterday, there was quite a bit of discussion about Ted Cruz, who is the smartest and most conservative man to run for president in my lifetime. Here is his problem: Could Abraham have been elected to be the mayor of Sodom?

  2. RW: I encourage you to listen to this video where Katie Couric interviews Sen. Ted Cruz. The whole interview is good, but in the portion from 27:28-29:08, I think Sen. Cruz addresses the question you raise in your first comment.

  3. Tychicus. The video is no longer available.

Abraham could not have been elected as mayor of Sodom.
Somebody dug up some story about him lying about his wife being his sister in Egypt.
    No!
It really was a nasty event. Though technically it was true. But they ran him out of Egypt.
People of Sodom don’t put up with that sort of thing.
Almost as bad as making up a story about appointment to West Point.

    But is this Sodom?

  4. It all comes down to three things. 1. Who do you agree with on policy, 2. who would make a good president, 3. who can get elected. I can’t think of anyone who fulfills all three. Cruz fits one and two but I don’t think he could get elected.

  5. I think you’re right, Kbells.

Politics in governing of a civil state that allows citizen participation requires some of that “wise as serpent” mentality.

And this is sad and dangerous both:

  6. Unfortunately, the Democrats have a majority of Americans who are committed to either infanticide, perversion, criminality, the Green Cult or sloth. Hillary’s personal repulsiveness may allow a Republican to win the election, but he will then be opposed by those who have the commitments described above.

  7. Chaz, If you watch the previews at a movie theater or if you watch a few minutes of prime time network TV, it is almost impossible to doubt that we are Sodom.
