“Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)80%
is echoing the concerns of other prominent conservatives that the events unfolding now in Washington could lead to mass amnesty in 2017.
“The word is… that 2017 is the year to watch for immigration,” radio host Laura Ingraham asked Sessions. “What are the chances… that if Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)58%
is Speaker and Hillary Clinton is President of the United States, or Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)80% is President of the United States that they would move in the first 100 days to push a massive, similar [to the ‘Gang of Eight’] immigration reform bill?”
Sessions replied, “I think there’s a great danger that that would happen.”
After the failed 2006-2007 amnesty push, the immigration lobby spent $1.5 billion leading up to the 2013 push in which Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) delivered a bill to allow even more foreign workers.
A recent PBS documentary exposed how Ryan and Rubio were nearly successful in their effort to pass amnesty in 2014. Ryan had crafted a bill and had the Republican votes necessary to pass it. Ryan’s amnesty effort was aided by many of the members of the House Freedom Caucus, including Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC)93%
and Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID)95%
.
Mulvaney has since become one of the biggest boosters in the House Freedom Caucus of a Paul Ryan Speakership. According to the documentary, the Ryan-Rubio amnesty plan was foiled when Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA)100% scored a historic primary victory to oust then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor.”
“PBS aired a Frontline documentary this week on the 2014 attempt to get an amnesty bill through the House of Representatives. The star was Luis Gutierrez, the most strident amnesty pusher on Capitol Hill, whom the filmmakers followed over the entire course of the year.
But the other star was Paul Ryan.
The filmmakers wanted to follow him around too but, in the narrator’s words, “Ryan’s office wanted to stay under the radar.” Watch the film and you can see why. The Republican that Gutierrez is most frequently shown conferring with is Mario Diaz-Balart, but Ryan is invoked, in almost every scene, as the GOP driving force behind the amnesty push.
The movie starts with Gutierrez praising Ryan for being a good loser:”
I think it is funny that people want to talk about immigration laws and deportations. The number of illegal immigrants coming into the US is a function of two factors:
1. Is the US economy growing and creating new jobs? Since 2007 the non-Texas part of the U.S. economy has been completely stagnant and has not attracted new illegal immigrants.
2. Will US workers do hard, low skill jobs. With our current welfare state, the answer is “No!”. Most would understandably rather draw welfare or fake disability and dip into the Social Security Ponzi scheme bucket.
Issues more important than Immigration:
1. Reforming the Medicare Ponzi scheme.
2. Defunding Planned Parenthood.
3. Tax Reform (just take us back to Reagan’s 1986 bill).
4. Defunding radical Greenies
5. Restoring a free market in the mortgage industry.
6. Ending federal aid to education since the main thing it does is promote perversion.
7. Get the federal government off the back of the police. (Drastically cut the Justice Dept.)
8. Rollback other domestic spending programs to pre-
Little Bush levels.
9. Don’t start any more expensive and destabilizing wars in the Middle East.
10. Kick the perverts out of the military and remove women from combat roles.
11. End all subsidies of solar, wind and unicorn burp energy.
12. End Affirmative Action.
13. Cut college costs by ending federal student loans.
14. Replace Obamacare with Singapore-like market healthcare solutions.
15. Make the millions who are faking disability go back to work.
16. Keep men out of women’s restrooms and vice versa.
17. If the U.S. isn’t going to make many of these reforms, then kick Texas out of the Union and we will try them and a few others.
P.S. Repeal the Voting Rights Act and allow states to adopt a literacy test for voters and/or a poll tax.
Had an interesting conversation with my gardener a couple weeks ago — he and his dad are from Mexico, still have family there and go visit every year. But the son (who’s probably in his 30s or maybe 4ish now?) told me the U.S. used to be such a guarantee of economic advancement, but not so much anymore. He said things are so tight now that the U.S. has become like any other country, achieving the “dream” is, well, dreaming.
They do have modest houses here but they work their tails off, he said they used to have plenty of money to put into savings every month but not now, prices have gone up so much.
I’m probably more liberal on immigration than many of you here and don’t have a problem with establishing pathways to citizenship for those who are here (and who qualify, don’t have criminal records). Of course, sadly we’ve been so lax on border control that the numbers are simply becoming unsustainable when it comes to the resources here.
Unfortunately, the political standoff that’s gone on for so many years has left us with what is effectively an open border situation that probably won’t change very soon.
I not only presents a strain on resources, but it’s an obvious security concern as well.
We’ve blown this issue in a very big way and I don’t have much hope that it will get resolved amid the overly partisan atmosphere we have now.
Like many things, it will just continue to be a standoff for the foreseeable future.
Donna J, Are there a bunch of US citizens who are gardeners knocking on your door offering to do a better job?
If the old demagogue Trump got his wish and deported 10+ million Mexicans, the following would happen:
1. Millions of jobs would go undone. Americans aren’t going to hop off disability or welfare to do those jobs.
2. We would immediately go into a recession. The Mexicans are consumers as well as producers.
3. The Social Security Ponzi scheme would go broke. It is only propped up now by the taxes paid by the illegals.
4. Trump’s hotel rooms would stay dirty and his golf greens would not be mowed.
I remember my mom actually giving one of the Mexican gardeners in her neighborhood the money so he could apply for the amnesty program under Reagan. He was very grateful.
Ryan will be the smartest and most conservative Speaker we have had since 1861. If paired with a conservative President, he may be able to roll back the tides of socialism, perversion and Green lunacy a little bit. Paired with a socialist like Obama or Cinton or a liberal buffoon like Trump, he may still slow the ride into the abyss.
Something I don’t understand (among other things I don’t understand 😉 ):
We hear about people on Disability who don’t deserve to be, but we also hear (from AJ & Mike) how difficult it is to get on it. How can those two go together?
I deal with people on social security disability every week. About 50% actually have any disability at all. Around 10% are actually incapable of working in today’s environment. I regularly see Down’s Syndrome youth working. Think about that. We have healthy adults saying they can’t work because they can’t handle “stress” while people who are profoundly mentally retarded work.
Three other facts: 1. The percentage of disability applicants who are approved has risen sharply in the last few years.
2. The number of people applying for disability jumped sharply as unemployment benefits began to run out during the Great Recession. Was there truly an increase in the number of disabled persons? No. “Disability” is permanent unemployment insurance that comes with healthcare (Medicare).
3. In many ghettos, the poor have learned to train their kids to act in a bizarre way so the parents can get disability payments for the kids. They have a name for it: “Crazy Money”. However, we and our government are the ones who are crazy.
Ricky – What I don’t understand is how those people can get on it, but guys like AJ & Mike are having such a hard time with it. Are they starting to crack down on accepting people?
I don’t know how the 14 million qualified for Social Security Disability. All I know is every week some of them walk into my office and conduct business just like my other clients, but tell me they are on disability.
Ricky – A lot of older feminists have matured & softened their views, & a lot of young feminists, especially around college age, go overboard in what they find offensive, or misogynistic.
Karen, Mrs./Miss/Ms. Greer isn’t just out of step with young feminists. She is completely out of step with one of the core beliefs of Organized Perversion. She seems to believe that even though a man may put on makeup and a dress and tell Diane Sawyer that he/she is a woman, he/she is actually still a man. Who knew? Mrs,/Miss/Ms. Greer is Ann Coulter with wrinkles.
It has been reported that Bruce Jenner still has his male genitalia. What does one call someone who looks like a woman from the waist up and a man from the waist down? Has someone found a way to change his chromosomes if he should have surgery to remove the waist-down part?
Tych, it is hard to say. The modern rhetoric obscures the fact that there are different types of transgender. There are the transsex, who due to a problem during fetal development developed what are usually superficial genitalia that are different from their sex chromosomes (in very rare cases, some people are born with a mixture of both XX and XY cells making up their body – “there are some who are born eunuchs”). Clearly Jenner is not in this group.
Then there are those with what is currently termed Gender Dysphoria. These people are mentally persuaded they should be of the opposite sex. They often have a co-morbidity of another mental illness diagnosis. I have some understanding for their confusion, as anorexics and bulimics display similar mental fixations and co-morbidities, although I doubt the current treatment of Gender Dysphoria is beneficial – we don’t offer appetite suppressants or gastric bypass operations to anorexics. The fixation on gender, as with body weight, is a surface symptom of deeper pain: http://www.thepublicdiscourse.com/2015/04/14905/.
The third group is the link between the T and the LGB. These are transvestites, who gain sexual gratification from acting and dressing like the opposite sex. Drag queens often have breast implants and other enhancements to obtain a womanly figure, but do not often get a complete sex change. They can be either homosexual or heterosexual in inclination. Which of the last two groups, Jenner is in has been obscured by all the hype.
Greer’s position has been consistent through the years. She basically hates men. Since the 1990s she has taken the position that a man cannot become a woman by announcement, surgery or drugs. In this, she is correct.
Roscuro, Greer also suggests that Bruce Jenner belongs to a fourth group (one that you did not list). Specifically, she suggested that Jenner was jealous of the publicity his step-daughters received as famous immoral women and wanted some attention. On this issue, I think she may also be right.
I have a friend who is a psychologist (and an active Christian) who has counseled many students at a major university who claim to be “gay”. She has concluded that in many cases this is not caused by any same sex attraction, but is a form of rebellion against parents and a cry for attention. She has also said that this situation is made much worse by a culture which treats perverts as heroes.
Bruce Jenner understood our culture perfectly. I also think his announcement was very much a staged and scripted event. Organized Perversion has been aggressively looking for athletes and ex-athletes to show youth that perversion is not just for singers, actors and choreographers. It was revealing that ESPN had an award waiting for Jenner as soon as he put on a dress.
I have been disappointed in our high school boys who could immediately put an end to this transgender/ unisex bathroom nonsense.
At the beginning of the next school year, every male high school athlete should announce that he is now a female and that he is going to use female restrooms and locker rooms and play (and dominate) female sports. That would truly drive a wedge between the feminists and Organized Perversion. In addition to ending the bathroom nonsense and temporarily making a hilarious farce out of girls sports, the move would drive most parents of girls to enroll their daughters in Christian schools which is where they need to be in the first place.
Anything beats the current system which was largely created by the socialist, LBJ.
