Prayer Requests 10-20-15

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 140

¹Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;

Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war.

They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.

Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.

The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set gins for me. Selah.

I said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: hear the voice of my supplications, OLord.

O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; lest they exalt themselves. Selah.

As for the head of those that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

10 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.

11 Let not an evil speaker be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

12 I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and the right of the poor.

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.

  1. I just mentally went through my checklist of things to do before November 14th. I need a “wife”. Mr. P is willing to help but some of it I have to do, some he is already involved in and he is also trying to have surgery before Thanksgivng. I would appreciate the time, patience, and strength to get it all done.

  2. Prayer for morale at work, we’re all (all 5 of us who are left) zombie-like these days, going through the motions. I plan to start work today on a story I’ve been thinking about doing regarding the homeless and our local rescue mission that’s been on the waterfront for 100+ years, I’m hoping that will jolt my brain and body and spirit back into some more motivated productivity.

  3. I am wondering if it is what her bio mom was teaching. They are of Mexican heritage and Catholic. It seems when Catholic beliefs are brought in, they are incorporated in with the local beliefs. Her older sister had a lot of the same leanings. But, lots of books are available in the school library. This experiment in education may be failing. But I don’t see her being willing to work at home either. We had a long look at Scripture last night, and she was shown where God does not like witchcraft, sorcery, etc, so she will be making a choice against Him. Putting her in the family of the father of lies. A slave to Satan and sin. She is going to think about it.

I am also going to have her wash her walls. I have allowed her to do chalk drawings on her bedroom walls as an outlet for her, but I have noticed a turn toward the unhealthy.

  4. Mumsee, living near New Orleans and where voodoo and some other things are practiced…It is real and it is scary. When you open that door, it is hard to close it. I have explained that to BG. I don’t trust it and whenever I am near it I pray constantly.

  5. Heavenly Father,

Please put a hedge of protection around the Nest to keep evil far away. Please, may Your word along with Your promises fill this young girl’s heart and spirit in such a way that there is no room for any entity except for You. Fill her to the brim, overflowing with Your love. Help her to renounce the forces of evil that have sought her attraction. Please, Lord, do not let this one be lost to the dark side of life, the side that produces spiritual darkness. Lift her up and out. I pray that same prayer over other young ones of the believers here, no matter what influence has been leading them astray. May all these lost sheep be sought out by Your love, may the Good Shepherd, pull them in through the Holy Spirit so that they recognize You for Who You are. Show them a glimpse of the good plans You have for each of them. Save them quickly for it seems the time grows short. I pray this in the precious name of Jesus, the name without compare on earth or in heaven, Amen

  6. Father God,

I also lift up those areas in PNG that need rain. Jo said it rained for a short while recently. I praise You for showing that it is possible for the clouds to drop their contents upon the villages, agricultural areas, dusty roads, and dry stream beds that feed water supplies for the country. Please bring rain again in a manner that it can be utilized to fill collection receptacles, and replenish waning supplies. You see the need. Help the people to recognize the water is one among many of Your excellent and good gifts. I ask for more to realize the necessity to pray over this need to You, the one true living God. And when You supply may many hands be raised heavenward in praise to You as they touch the precious raindrops from Your hands. I pray similarly for CA where many have been reluctant to acknowledge their need of You. Open their eyes and hearts to what only You can do.
    In Jesus’ name, Amen

  7. Here’s a Cheryl/Us update.

She’s progressing at therapy and at home. She is now using a cane around the house. 🙂 She will continue to use the walker in public, and the chair when necessary for longer “walks”. She can get around some, but only short distances. She is now doing some steps at therapy and was given the OK today to try at home. She’s had improvement in her range of motion and in weight bearing, although it’s still difficult and painful. Continued prayer for further improvement would be appreciated.

Liz is doing well in school and has been a huge blessing to her mom and I, although her attitude sometimes sucks. 🙂 What can I say, she’s a hormonal teenager. Seriously though, she’s been a great help to me and helps care for Cheryl every day. I don’t know what we would do without her.

Finances and the unknown about when she can return to work continue to be a problem. It weighs on me. So I plod along wondering what’s to come, what I may have done, or not done right or wrong, to put us here. I’m having a hard time coming to grips with it all and figuring out what it is God has in mind for us. I have no clue how to proceed. So we wait, while my attitude and spirits decline. I know that’s wrong, but it’s true just the same. So I could use some prayer too please……..

    Hey, you asked. 🙂

  8. AJ, it is a simple fact that sometimes one can do everything right and still end up where you are. That is a hard place to be, at any rate.

There are so many games, media, books etc. that encourage our young people to accept occultism. I have spoken to this to my grandchildren, but sometimes it seems to go in one ear and out the other. I learned the hard way myself, but I did not have clear teaching at the time, either.

Prayers requested for Kortni who is struggling with heroin and meth. She had another relapse, an overdose and had to have paddles used to restart her heart. She is horribly thin. She has lost two children she had at home. Her sister is going to adopt them. The sister is a single mom with a teenager so it will be a challenge for her, too. The rest of the family will help her. Kortni has been in rehab a few times and her family is hoping she will do so again. Please pray for all.

  9. The Real, I often wonder if I’ve done something wrong. Then I think, if I’m being disciplined for something that I did wrong, I would know what it is. That isn’t to say that God doesn’t have a purpose for our suffering. He works everything for good. But suffering in one’s life isn’t automatically a punishment for sin.

  10. My sister was widowed shortly after her first anniversary, when their daughter was an infant, and she believed at that time (I hope she doesn’t still) that God was punishing her for having gotten pregnant out of wedlock.

It can be so easy to think things like that. 😦

  11. Thanks for your transparency, AJ. I will pray specifically with all you mentioned. And for the record, I have a very hard time dismissing the frequent thoughts that I’ve done something wrong. It’s difficult to live that way, so I understand what you’re saying.

    Prayers for your peace.
