  1. Little Bush had been commendably quiet since he finished his eight years of bankrupting America and destabilizing the Middle East. In typical Little Bush fashion, he broke his silence to attack a conservative.

Little Bush, Go back to painting pictures of yourself in the bathtub. Better yet, go campaign for Hillary. She is the one committed to continuing your policies: Massive increases in domestic spending and starting wars to make the Middle East completely uninhabitable for Christians.

  2. If The Destruction of America is a sundae, Obama may be the cherry on top, but Little Bush is the whipped cream. Of course LBJ is the ice cream and Carter and Clinton are nuts sprinkled around the edges.

  3. I miss W. He was an honorable man. Not a perfect president, but none of them are.

The disaster that has been the past 7 years simply cannot be overstated.

And with Trump still on top and Sanders, the socialist, running strong on the other side, I can’t figure out yet if ’16, politically speaking, will be a complete anomaly or if it will settle into a more predictable election as everyone starts to come back to earth.

While it’s still “early,” it’s not so early — caucuses and primaries kick off the first of February. And when you consider people will be sidetracked and distracted by the holidays soon — and not paying much attention through much of the rest of this year — the election is perhaps closer than we think.

I still can’t imagine Trump getting the GOP nomination. Even if he wins early primaries, he’d be stopped or blocked at some point (but could leave behind an angry 3rd party movement crying foul).

And all of this could be a good thing, who knows yet. I could not vote for Trump personally and hope he’s not the nominee. But I could go with a Ben Carson in good conscience.

This could be either the beginning (or middle) of the bitter end for the U.S. — or the start of what will turn into a resurgence of common sense. 🙂

Personally I fear it’s the former, “but God …” And either way, of course, it’s “But God.” All for His glory, the nations rise and fall, come and go at his good pleasure.

  4. I personally really respect CArson, but you know, we’ve tried the inexperienced politician experiment and it didn’t work well with either Carter (whom I anticipated would understand something with his USNA training not to mention being a governor) and Obama. I don’t know if the world can handle another US president so tone deaf and inexperienced in foreign policy.

But maybe US isolationism would help?

  5. I disagree with virtually everything that Obama has done. Having said that, how is Obama much worse than Little Bush?

Obama had Obamacare. Little Bush had Medicare D and No Child Left Behind.

Obama helped destabilize Libya and Syria, leading to massive numbers of deaths, refugees and chaos. Little Bush single-handedly turned Iraq into chaos by invading and then disbanding the army and police, leading to many deaths and refugees.

Both men massively increased domestic spending.
Both guys are sympathetic to perversion.

You could say that Little Bush appointed more conservative judges, but it was Roberts that blessed Obamacare.

It is telling that Little Bush has never been critical of Obama, but now he has blasted Cruz. The difference between Little Bush and Cruz is much greater than the difference between Little Bush and Obama.

  6. michelle, i hear you — and that’s my biggest concern about Carson. But I do like his character. For now, my top choice (wrapping in electibility, experience, conservative positions) is Rubio. But if it’s going to be an inexperienced, nonpolitician, I could go with Carson.

Webb’s comments this morning at the news conference (he’s dropping out but leaving open an independent run) were interesting.

    And on Biden from CNN:

Washington (CNN) If he pushes it to the absolute limit, Vice President Joe Biden has only nine more days to make and announce his 2016 decision — if he wants to be a serious candidate who is on all ballots.

  7. I don’t think isolationism is a good road (I think that’s what we’re seeing now, no? The vacuum effect … )

But since we no longer even have a sense of what we believe or what is right or wrong at home, perhaps we have no business trying to lead anyone else. 😦

  8. And I have to say, while I know some of this is visceral, I also just don’t personally care for Cruz. I think he doesn’t have a very good personal presence when it comes to voters, to be honest. I’ve heard that a lot, even from a Republican friend.

    Likability matters.

And do listen to Webb. While both sides have principles they should (and must, to be true to themselves) stand behind, perhaps we need to look for a way to get back to a plan for government to actually work — where we don’t view the other side (as Hillary does) as the “enemy.”

If we can’t get there, the system will be so brittle it will just crack and break apart. And I suspect some on both sides think that’s where it needs to go at this point, but is there really no way to regain our footing and work together, pull (at least on some issues) back to the center on some things, lose some of this toxic the partisan anger, so we can find compromise?

    Just thinking out loud.
