We left for Bible study last night a little before six.
We went out to dinner at O’Charlie’s afterward.
Didn’t get home ’till after nine.
I don’t know. Nothing special, just messing around.
Sorry I missed my own Birthday Celebration yesterday. I don’t even remember what I was doing instead. Something important I’m sure; like trying to get a high score on Bejewled Bliz or rewatching an old Marvel movie. Anyway thank you all for the nice wishes. 🙂
Morning all. It is Christmas here. The four boxes that I mailed to myself were all available for pickup this afternoon. Such fun to see what I had packed in. Some fun books that I have already begun to read. And my aide’s son who calls me bubu meri is having a birthday and I sent a book just for him.
Good Morning…it’s still dark here but I have had my first cup of coffee…I’ve been up since 4! Happy Birthday Kbells..hope it was truly blessed and filled with sweet moments….
Good Morning Everyone. I posted a few photos on FB last night. I am working on convincing Mr. P that just because we liked something in another house doesn’t mean we have to display it in this house. He also went antique/junk shopping yesterday on his own. He was so proud of himself. He bought a set of “fireplace tools” and put them on the hearth. It is a gas fireplace….oh but we do have a nice metal fire pit on the patio so I just decided where they need to go!!!!!
I will have to send AJ a photo to put on the side of what I did with the shells. I am quite proud of myself and he likes it. I very carefully wrapped some of the painted shells, a painted sand dollar and a couple of plaster tropical fish and a dolphin statue in bubble wrap, then slid them in styrofoam sleeves that I had packed china in, then put them in a storage container.
He told me the shells were more valuable than rubies and diamonds to him. I told him “Oh brother! Another man like my father. Can’t we buy some real rubies and diamonds???? I kept telling my dad I was a GIRL. Someone was going to take advantage of me when I sold all his rods and reels, boat, motor, and trailer, drill press, welding machine, air compressor, etc.” He laughed. I can’t complain. He saved some nice jewelry that belonged to his mother and I now have it.
Good morning! We have been at the office for awhile and left pretty late last night. I am adjusting to being back here, and it is helpful I am able to spend some time back in this office that is not in the main tax office area. We have two office spaces with a kitchenette in between. The area I am working in is the office space for an insurance guy who is just around when he meets with his clients. It is the quiet side.
Husband and I have been listening to the Christian classic, Redeeming Love, by Francine Rivers on audio book in the car for our commute. I did not want Art to read to me because his voice is a little hoarse or strained seeming lately. I noticed that is one of the effects of one of his heart meds. He has to talk enough with clients and other staff so I do not want to be an extra burden in that regard, but I do miss him reading to me.
I am reading an excellent fantasy book for review, The Traitor’s Heir, by Anna Thayer. Her back cover bio states she ” is an English teacher, she also writes and lectures internationally on the works of J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis.” I definitely see their influence in her story line and perfect wording. I think high school students as well as adults would enjoy her work.
Mumsee, some people might be willing to do that if it is signed and supports a cause. Otherwise, I do not have a clue who would do such a thing. Maybe a book that is long out of print, with valuable information, and few copies can be found? And of course, a textbook in paperback has a captive audience.
I was looking up your author and that is what they were asking for one of her books. Most were about fifteen dollars in paperback but I have seen books offered for eighty and I wondered. Anyway, she does look like a good author for my flock.
Mumsee, I see on the back of the book that the price listed is $15.99. If you would like, I can mail you my copy when I finish it for the review. I get these books free for review. It may be two weeks or so before I have a chance to finish with it. I usually take my review books to the church library or donate them to Christian Library International. I will gladly donate to the Nest, too.
AJ, if you would like you may put the link to my blog (janicegareyblog) on this Wandering Views site. I have a lot to learn about making my site more colorful and inviting. Day by day I am learning the basics.:-)
The descriptions, for one, I can create my own universe–which is a challenge for 110 years ago, not to mention the dialogue. That’s what’s driving me crazy right now . . . But, the first four chapters are in their rough draft and that’s exciting! 🙂
Part of the problem, too, is I don’t have a direct quote from my subject until well in the fourth chapter. Yikes! But she was so totally self effacing . . .
How grim was the Hell study? Here’s the link I just sent to my precious ladies concerning the “doctrine” of the world on annihilation, basically, along with Hell and justice.
In the process of attempting to add Janice’s blog to the Blogs I Follow tab I seem to have deleted them all. 😦
I have Janice’s, KBells, and Michelle’s to add back in later. So if anyone else would like one added, post the link or send me an email with it and I’ll get the list back up. Thanks.
🙂 I took TSWITW to the mall in Spartanburg. I thought it would be an all day affair, with dinner in Spartanburg somewhere. But we’re back already. There is nothing in all of Westgate Mall that she wants. And she tires easily now.
. I bought a new TomTom GPS system at Best Buy The old one lied to me twice. I bought another one rather than update.
Don’t tell anyone, I didn’t know how to update until the guy told me how to update the TomTom in a year or so. I presume Garmen does the same thing.
I’m with cheryl, nonfiction is a whole lot easier to write — but then, no surprise there since I’ve been a reporter for so long. Contrary to popular belief, we don’t write fiction. 🙂
Co-worker got through the story (slugged simply “GOD” 🙂 ) about the upcoming debate at my church. I think she enjoyed doing it.
I’m covering homelessness stories again today, filed the first of 2 (on grand opening this morning of new apartments built for homeless vets).
How about The Daily Bosley? Although she’s black and white. Haven’t looked at the blog yet — and I’m still trying to get back to my pets blog in between stories ….
Oy veh!. I got in the minivan, running a few minutes late and drove out of the driveway. The car was not feeling right so I got out and checked. Glad I did. Flat tire. I’m glad I kept the old Malibu around instead of selling like son-in-law suggested. I told him it was for emergencies and driving to meet the carpool when it isn’t my turn to drive. I’m also glad the temperature dropped into the high 60s-low 70s since the a/c doesn’t work in the spare car. I can handle it, but the other person in the carpool would not appreciate. He was surprised that it ran so well with over 283,000 miles on it. He had one that he traded off at 100,000 because it had a few minor issues.
It was 72 degrees when I drove up to the house after 7 p.m. tonight, a definite low for us this October. It’s typically still 90-ish well after dark.
This is almost parka weather.
But the heat will continue, we’re supposed to be back up to 90 next Wednesday. Maybe some rain in the next couple days, but most of it will fall in the mountains and inland from us.
Good morning everyone but Tychicus and Jo ;-).
Good afternoon Tychicus.
Good evening Jo

Michelle, on yesterday’s thread you wrote, ” It’s harder to write nonfiction than fiction!” To me it’s the other way around!

Why is fiction easier for you, Michelle? I think fiction require a very powerful imagination.

I hadn’t heard of him but according to the reporter who did the story he’s got quite an online following.
