Prayer Requests 10-1-15

Today’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the rest of the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 122

¹I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.

Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together:

Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, unto the testimony of Israel, to give thanks unto the name of the Lord.

For there are set thrones of judgment, the thrones of the house of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.

For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee.

Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.

  1. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the lives of each person on this blog. They have all enriched my life with what Christian friends are to be in a community. Thank You for their wisdom freely shared, for their sense of humor to lighten heavy days, for their sharing of burdens so one
doesn’t ever feel isolated in suffering, and for the high level of caring and love expressed. We are all so blessed by how You kept us all together under AJ’s willingness to create this virtual gathering place. It is too good to be from anyone else’s giving but Yours for You are the giver of all good gifts.

Thank You today, especially, for Jo and what all she is doing in her part of the world. Thank You for watching over her safety. Please provide the needed rainfall to fill the empty supplies. I pray that her students are all continuing to to learn what they are scheduled to learn for this school year. Please settle down any who try to be disruptive attention getters. I ask Your favor to stay with Jo today and all days of her life. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  2. I’ve been a littler reluctant to mention all that’s going on with us. Problems can pile up to the point where just listing them can sound like whining. It’s been over a year since Mama went into the hospital for an ulcer and come home confused and unable to care for herself. She was diagnosed with late stage Alzheimer. Since then me, my brothers and one sister-in-law have had to take turns staying with her. Since I’m the only one not working I have the days. We take turns staying nights. For awhile I was spending 80 to 90 hours a week away from home. She took one spell that lasted for about three months where she didn’t sleep. That meant neither did we. We now have hospice and that has been a big help. We have no idea how long this will last. Her doctor predicts she will be gone by the end of the year. I believe it will be longer. But it is getting beyond our abilities to handle. We can’t afforded to put her in a facility and medicaid would take the family business. My brothers messed up by not getting the business out of her name in time.
January of last year Hubby gave a friend with cancer a large sum of money. He asked me and I approved. Shortly thereafter the car died and the couch collapsed. Then Hubby’s hours were cut. He didn’t tell me this until after he had maxed out our credit to replace the car and the couch. Then he lost his job. I started looking for a job, we gutted our expenses and he started working crappy freelance jobs. Then the thing with mama happened and I couldn’t get a job. My brother started giving me a little money to take over the bookkeeping that mama used to do. Ever try to reproduce a years worth of the financial history of a small business from the records of Alzheimer’s patient. Hubby is now getting enough freelance to get us by, but his main boss is a cheapskate who is asking Hubby to keep pieces of junk functional so he doesn’t have to sell one of his cars to buy decent equipment. He is pretty miserable and is still looking for something better.
By spring of the last school year the Christian school the Kid attended told him he had one more chance or he would be expelled. I asked him if he thought he could make it. I didn’t want him to have an expulsion on his record. He didn’t think he could and since we were having trouble making the tuition anyway we pulled him out and enrolled him in the local public school. Within a week he was in the vice principals office being threatened with alternative school. After meetings with the vice principal and the counselor we got him through the year. So far this year we have had only one complaint from a teacher about behavior, but his first report card was three D’s and an A. (He likes math) He made the baseball team but with those grades he may not be able to stay on it. I gave him until the next report card to get his grades up or I would get involved. He doesn’t want that. This public school gives very little homework and doesn’t even issue the kids a book of their own. So I’m having trouble finding out what he is suppose to be learning, especially since I am not home many nights. Oh and he has also started asking why he has to go to church. He has decided he doesn’t want to go anymore.
The AC broke in the late spring. Of course we can’t replace it just now and have gotten by on small window units. Before the window units we kept the doors and windows open and ended up with a fly problem. That was annoying for a while. They’re gone for the moment.
Good news. With all the long lonely days here with mama I have been able to work on a book I wrote. It is almost ready, but since I can’t afford self publishing, I will try the traditional route.
At least the science teacher has started communicating with us. Hopefully the plant cell project he just told us about will be good enough to bring that grade up.
We decided to use what little savings Mama has to hire a nurse for weekends and emergency . Now we all get a little more time off. The saving should last about a year.
We didn’t get a vacation this year because we couldn’t get a respite from hospice before school started but hubby has a job in Pensacola on a weekend when the Kid has a Friday off. So we will get a long weekend at the beach.
The friend with cancer is doing great and was cancer free at last check up.
Because of the last few things I mentioned, it’s getting better but for a while there I was ready to run away and become a hobo.

  3. kBells – I’ve had a feeling, from the little bits you’d post now & then, that things were not going well, & I have prayed for you. Glad to hear there is a little good news for you. I’m glad you didn’t run anyway & become a hobo. We would have missed you.
