Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks “15 Week-5

Tychicus and Inbutnotof. Two names to remember when voting for the Pickled Pigskin Picks Hall of Fame. These are the only two winners in four weeks, with two each. AJ and Mumsee have been up there lately, but just haven’t gotten close enough in the tie breaker scores. You read that correctly. Mumsee. The female farm wife Bronco fan from a remote part Idaho. Sounds like a reality show teaser, doesn’t it?

At any rate, here are the picks of the week. Idaho is represented twice this week. Boise State hosts Hawaii and Idaho travels almost as far as the Rainbows to play Arkansas State in the Pillow Fight of the Week (according to ESPN’s Bottom Ten.) And to make everyone happy, most of the major conferences have at least two teams on the list. The big games are in the Big 12 and SEC this time around. And of course, the tie breaker is a Big 12 matchup, which Tychicus, last week’s winner, got to choose.

  1. South Carolina @ Mizzou

  2. Army @ Penn State

  3. Air Force @ Navy

  4. #23 West Virginia @ #15 Oklahoma

  5. #13 Alabama @ #8 Georgia

  6. Iowa @ #19 Wisconsin

  7. Hawai’i @ Boise State

  8. Arizona @ #18 Stanford

  9. Pillow Fight: Idaho (1-3) @ Arkansas State (1-3 )

10. Tie Breaker – Guess Winner and final score: Texas Tech @ #5 Baylor

NOTE:  The first game isn’t until Saturday noon eastern, but get your guesses in by Friday night anyway.

P.S. What do you all think of the school logos? Should I continue including them? Yea or nay? (I guess AJ has the final say since it is his blog.) Oh, I know. Maybe I’ll just post the logos, then I’ll be about the only one who knows which teams are playing and the rest of you will be guessing blindly. But then, one of the women might win based on the best looking logos. Oh, well. Leave well-enough alone.

  1. 1. Mizzou

    2. Penn State

    3. Navy We have been asked by the Navy Alumni society to watch this game with them but we are moving and it starts at 2:30 and the Alabama game starts at 3:00

    4. Oklahoma

    5. Georgia Mr. P won’t understand me picking Georgia, but of the 3 men I share an office with 2 graduated from Auburn and one from Alabama, so the discussion in the office this week says this is going to be a really tough game.

    6. Wisconsin

  2. The logos are interesting. Some, like Stanford, I didn’t recognize. But most I know..

    Here goes:

    Gamecocks
    Penn State
    Navy
    Oklahoma
    Georgia
    Wisconsin
    Boise
    Stanford
    Idaho
    Baylor 21- Texas Tech 7

  3. Mizzou
    Penn St,
    Navy
    Oklahoma
    Bama
    Wisconsin
    Boise
    Stanford
    Arkansas St.
    Baylor 48-31

I like the logos. When I get frustrated because playing the odds isn’t working, I can easily go back to picking the teams with prettiest colors.

  4. My picks:
    1. Mizzou-RAH – No apologies to Chas. And it’s okay for him to pick his team.
    2. PSU – I feel sorry for all the sanctions against the Nittany Lions. Yeah, they blew it, but take away all their wins from previous seasons?
    3. Navy – Anchors, aweigh, you know. They’ll put one on a jet plane this weekend.
    4. OU – Home field, after all.
    5. Georgia – It’s someone else’s turn to win the SEC.
    6. Wisc – I’m going against my desire to see Iowa win, but I need to be realistic sometimes.
    7. BSU – With a nod to the queen of the Nest.
    8. AZ – Okay, this is not realistic, but a dream.
    9. Ark St – Again, home field.
TB. Baylor 42-35 – Should be an exciting match, but Baylor has the home field and Tech got lucky last week in almost beating TCU.

There, Mumsee. You have your alternate template.

  5. Sorry, I am waiting for a winning template.

By the way, I have never been a Boise fan. U of I Vandal, I was. Tennis was the game. The reason I say Go Boise is because I want Boise to go. But, in the arabian proverb is found wisdom. “You are my enemy, but fighting together, you are my brother. Fight my brother, and you are my enemy.” That is a very rough rewriting. Anyway, Boise needs to go be another State, and take Moscow with it. But if anybody wants to pick on them, they belong to us.

Now, where are those templates so I can consolidate my list….

  8. Well, it had to happen. The winner is neither Tychicus nor IBNO, but kbells! She got 9 correct. Congratulations! Let me know which game will be the tie breaker next week.

Tychicus gets the “Tie Breaker Prognosticator of the Week” award, as he missed it “by that much,” to quote Maxwell Smart. Ty’s “that much” is an amazing 1 point! The score was Baylor 63, Texas Tech 35, and Tychicus predicted a 64-35 result. But he only got 7 games correct.

Anyway, here are the game scores:
    Mizzou 24 – So Car 10
    Penn St 20 – Army 14
    Navy 33 – Air Force 11
    Okla 44 – WVa 24
    ‘Bama 38 – UGA 10
    Iowa 10 – Wisc 6 (Big upset in the B1G 10!)
    Boise St 55 – Hawai’i 10
    Stanford 55 – Ariz 17
    Ark St 49 – Idaho 35
    Baylor 63 – Tx Tech 35

    Our results:
    Kbells 9
Tychicus, Kim, Ricky, Peter, AJ and IBNO 7
    Chas and Travis 6
    Mumsee and Janice 5

Another entry comes your way Wednesday night or Thursday. So, Kbells, what’ll it be? You’ll find the schedule here
