Praises! Got at least an hour of a good, hard rain tonight. I was at the Training Centre and right off the front veranda is a water tank and I could see the water flowing into the tank. Such a sweet sight.
Hubby got a 12-day prescription for some sort of steroid at his clinic appointment yesterday. A while after starting the meds yesterday, he felt a lot better. The pain was virtually gone.
However, he still didn’t sleep well last night, and today he reports that his pain level is back up to about a 5, and an 8 or 9 when he’s driving. Continued prayers for him are greatly appreciated.
The ibuprofen I took for my headache and mouth pain last night helped a lot, and today I am pain free. Thanks for praying.
I don’t know what it is about Stargazer, but yesterday I had great fear he would be involved somehow with blood. So I prayed in the morning and again with my prayer partner. He went over to help my daughter-in-law teach the cub scouts about whittling. There’s the fear: blood!
Anyway, last night, I went to make dinner, but I couldn’t find any canned pineapple, so there went that planned dinner. I was going to bake the chicken, then remembered I had never cleaned out the over from when I burned something earlier in the week. So, I marinated the chicken and asked Stargazer to grill.
While he was setting it up, he turned to run up the three stairs, tripped and rammed his knee into the corner of the planter box.
It looked bad.
I gave him ibuprofin, ice and a compress. The bleeding slowed pretty soon but when we looked, I knew he needed stitches.
A local walk-in clinic was manned by a nurse I knew from my doc, so in we went.
But then there was the question of insurance.
Did you know that the state medical collectives (Obamacare) don’t work outside of their state? Except in emergencies.
I had my check book, got a 30% reduction for paying cash and a receipt which he can submit for reimbursement. Today I’ll pay Walgreens to give him a tetanus shot.
This morning, I found a case of pineapple on the shelf. Not sure how I missed it yesterday.
I’m also not sure what the lesson is, but I’m going to say, “thanks be to God.” I have no idea why.
He’s on his way with college friends to a wedding this weekend. Pray for a safe trip for him, fun, but also for more leads on the job hunt. Thanks.
I regret some of what I revealed on yesterday’s prayer thread. AJ, if you see this, please take out all my posts there. (Easier than going back to find the parts I want deleted.)
6 Arrows I didn’t think you revealed anything that wasn’t helpful to me. All of us have been married. We understand. People who go to work have no concept what a person who stays home all day really does.
We can’t all pick our noses and eat bon bons.
6 Arrows – I understand you are probably feeling that maybe your words were not respectful enough about your husband. I wondered that, too, in what I shared. But I thought the greater gist of our comments – how wonderfully God has worked in our marriages – was worth the “risk”. Other wives may be reading this who are greatly struggling, & it may be encouraging for them to see that they are not alone, & that God can do wonderful, surprising things in a marriage. (He’s done wonderful, surprising things in my marriage a few times. 🙂 )
Thanks Karen. That is more along the lines of what I meant to say. No marriage is perfect. No relationship is perfect. I freely admit that I am not a good wife. I know it but I don’t let Mr. P know it. He thinks I am perfect and I like that just fine… 😉
Really what marriage is, is two imperfect people growing each day. I am much different than I used to be. Things that would have bothered me 10-15 years ago hardly phase me now. I read once that marriages shift about every 7 or so years. It is where the phrase the 7 year itch comes from. It is all in what you do with it.
Thank you, too, Karen. And I didn’t think there was anything disrespectful in what you said yesterday. You did clearly, in my mind, point to how God made things work out in your circumstances.

Lots of parents, all was well.
(Here’s a blog post I wrote once detailing an incident some of you former World Mag folks may remember and/or participated in: http://michelleule.com/2013/01/03/fear-as-a-catalyst-for-prayer/)

LOL. Thanks, Kim. I always feel so wrung out the day after I lay myself bare, and wish everything I’d said could just disappear. 😉
