Prayer Requests 8-8-15

Anyone have a request or a praise to share?

Psalm 66

¹Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:

Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.

Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.

Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.

He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.

He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.

O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:

Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

10 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.

11 Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.

12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.

13 I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,

14 Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.

15 I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah.

16 Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.

17 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.

18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.

20 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

  1. Praising God with you, RKessler.

I have a praise, as well. I’ve been on a journey this week. Not a journey where I went anywhere (other than the ordinary places). A journey I don’t have the words to describe, but the Lord in His unfailing faithfulness brought me to a place of joy and peace as I rested in Him.

And after the deep peace came energy like I’ve not experienced in a long time. I’d been in a tired, emotional slump for the last year or so, and God sprung me out of that with astonishing — what’s the word? Somebody help me here! 🙂

Anyway, I feel young again and full of life! I’ve got energy — I’m excited about the plans I’m making for the new homeschool year, a thrill I haven’t felt for a few years now. I am having wonderful conversations with hubby, and with the children. I am tackling the house and making progress.

    And I am smiling — a lot. 🙂

God is good. Always. I don’t know the future, but He does, and I know a miracle happened this week.

    Praise God!

  2. Prayer request: About two weeks ago, I had a slight fall. I didn’t hurt anything, but I fell because I suddenly lost control of my lower legs. I had to call my mother to help me up. When I got up, my arms started shaking – twitching might be a better word. I went to the hospital. The doctor who examined me said I probably had a near fainting spell and it was probably a one-time event. I went home and hoped that was the end of it. A couple of nights ago, I had another ‘shaking spell’. I was too tired to go to the hospital again – I just told my mother that if I went into a full seizure or lost consciousness she should call the ambulance. Since the first spell, I have been weak and tire quickly. I had to leave a party early because I was starting to feel like I was going to have another ‘spell’. It is starting to scare me a little. Pray for healing, and if there is a deeper medical problem, that it will be found in a timely fashion.

  3. Praying for Roscuro & praising with 6 Arrows.

6 Arrows – Your “praise report” brought tears to my eyes. God’s grace, mercy, & love are amazing!

That was a good reminder to me, & gave me hope for myself. I’ve been feeling worn down lately, & more tired than usual, even when I happen to sleep well. I am very ready for Forrest to start kindergarten on the 27th, which will free up time on the weekdays to get some long-neglected things done, as well as have some time of peace & quiet.

I’ll still be babysitting a couple (or more, when Emily works later hours) afternoon/nights a week, along with Saturday mornings & some Sunday afternoons. But having the weekday days free will be a big help to me.

This past week I had a couple of particularly difficult days where I felt so tired & worn down, & felt almost constantly on the verge of tears. I felt like such a wimp.

Then I realized that the stresses of my husband’s health problems, trying to sell the bread route, wondering what kind of job he’ll get when it is sold, & financial problems in general, were probably affecting how I was feeling, even though I try not to worry about those things through the course of a day. So I’m not berating myself anymore, & am waiting for God to refresh my soul. And even more, for Him to refresh my husband’s soul & body.

  4. Janice, that is the one thing I know it is not. I always have had problems with hypoglycemia when I don’t eat; so I know what that feels like, and it doesn’t feel like this new problem. Also, the times this new problem has happened, I’ve recently eaten.

So glad you’re not berating yourself anymore for your feelings. It is a heavy load you are carrying, and I pray you will find that refreshment in the Lord soon, as I did when numerous burdens were upon me at once.

  6. Roscuro, have you noticed any particular food (or possibly ingredient of a food) that might be causing your symptoms, since you mentioned that this problem occurs after having recently eaten? Perhaps keeping a food diary may help, if you’re not already doing that?

  7. My Mother-in-Law passed away today. None of the family except my Hubby (Father-in-Law or two Sisters-in-Law) are believers, so it’s especially sad. They were wonderful parents and grandparents and our sons are taking it especially hard. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in February and it was quite aggressive. She was in a beautiful hospice center these last two weeks and just took a quick turn for the worse yesterday.

  9. Linda, condolences from here as well. Nobody knows the heart, of course, but that makes it more difficult, for sure.

Phos, how about parasites? Third son was back in the States from the Middle East for nearly a year before they diagnosed his symptoms and gave him the necessary intervention for parasites.

  10. Sad to hear of your loss, Linda. Death is hard on those left behind, and especially when salvation status is a consideration. May you all be comforted as your varying emotions show up during grief processing.♡

  11. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and kind words. One bright spot – as all of the others are unchurched, they’ve agreed to have our Pastor do the service. I know he will include a gospel message, but he’s very wise about knowing the exact perfect thing to say.

  12. roscuro, have the thyroid checked, too. One of my symptoms was weak legs and shakiness. Hope you find the cause, at any rate.

My condolences, too, Linda. As mumsee says none of us really know where someone will end up, since things can occur that are beyond our seeing. It is so much better when we hear the words and see the evidence and fruit of salvation. Another instance of having to trust the Lord.

  13. KBells, how are you feeling now.

Roscuro, it is amazing to me what all the thyroid does. BG has Hoshimoto’s and I hae been surprised at some of the things that can be blamed on that. Where we live there seems to be an epidemic of it which is surprising since we are coastal and depend on seafood so much.
