Prayer Requests 8-6-15

It’s Thursday, so please remember to pray for Jo and the folks in PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 64

¹Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer: preserve my life from fear of the enemy.

Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

Who whet their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows to shoot their arrows, even bitter words:

That they may shoot in secret at the perfect: suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.

They encourage themselves in an evil matter: they commune of laying snares privily; they say, Who shall see them?

They search out iniquities; they accomplish a diligent search: both the inward thought of every one of them, and the heart, is deep.

But God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded.

So they shall make their own tongue to fall upon themselves: all that see them shall flee away.

And all men shall fear, and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of his doing.

10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

  1. AJ, at prayer group last night we found out that the pastor’s wife has pneumonia, and a fellow there told about his time in the hospital with it and that he could not pay his bill. After several months of not paying he was asked if he would like to have it covered by the Benevolence Fund. He said it was completely taken care of by that. Not sure if it is available everywhere, but I would think in your situation they would surely consider you worthy to receive. Just remember FROG=Fully Rely On God
I thought maybe I heard that last night for your benefit.

  2. Heavenly Father,

You bless us every day in more ways than we can count or even realize. Thank You for all, recognized and unrecognized blessings, the dark clouds with silver linings, and all the deep joys found even in sorrows for those who believe in Jesus.

I lift up AJ and family that You would ease their financial concerns because You have proven Yourself trustworthy to provide just in the nick of time. When things seem most desperate then You come through brilliantly. Do You do that to get more prayers and communication from us and to heighten suspence to increase Your glory? We are learning to pray it through whatever ‘it’ may be.

Father, I lift up Cheryl for help in times of her distress. Please increase her patience and give her creative ideas of how to get through this whole ordeal. Help her to know what to do to ease her pains. I ask that You give AJ a dose of energy and stamina as he feels relief from giving financial, worries over to You. Thank You for the blessing of their homeschooling that allows Liz to be there helping in the time of her family’s great need.

Thank You for seeing Jo through this long week that depleted her energy. Help her to refresh over the weekend and to consider ways to pace the activities so that she can have mini breaks during the school day. Maybe add a few Moments for Prayer during the days to recharge by having the children stop and think what they are thankful for. Would that be a way for her to recharge, Father? Please give her ideas that help the children to do some instruction of themselves at a beginning level. You have ways to help Jo, so I ask You provide what she needs for relief. May she know all the joys there are to be received through teaching the young. Help her during times she misses being in the company of adults and especially as she misses those she enjoyed being with at home. Please give her good nourishing meals and some fun outside of her school time. Please keep her healthy.

I pay in Jesus’ name, Amen

  3. Janice, I know that I have complimented your prayers and suggested you write a book of prayers before. I still think you should do something along those lines. You truly have a gift. I don’t often get an idea like this in my head that I just can’t let go. I can’t let this idea for you go. So I will ask that you just be open to the suggestion one more time with me nagging you. When I read your prayers that you post for us I am reminded of the Our Daily Bread Devotionals. One of my former priests used to write for them.

  4. I am open, Kim.
Yesterday morning at WMU Bible study the message from the monthly magazine was about listening to God, with subtitle Are You Listening? When I opened my Devotional journal, the title to the previous day’s devotion was Are You Listening? And the book I am reading for review, River Dwellers, is about listening to God. So, I am trying!♡

  5. Please pray for our friend, Kim, too. She is the one who has stage 4 cancer. She had surgery over a month ago (or more) and is still having problems with infection. It has to be cleared up in order for the chemo to begin. Ironically, though she is living in a care facility, she tends to go out and about a bit too much. She loves being with her grandchildren, but may not get the rest her body needs.

She also will need help with finances. She did fill out some forms, but was turned down for any help, since she could not show she was a refugee. She laughed about this, since she realizes she is not one. However, hers is the only income she has and she cannot work. She has nothing, since she has lived most of her life helping others.

Her parents have already lost three children. It is a difficult time for them, as well, since they do a lot of the driving for her and another grown child who can no longer drive. Prayers for all would be appreciated.

  6. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for eyes to partially see the needs in the world that You see. Thank You for compassionate hearts to lift others through prayer.

Please help Kim and her family as they try to find needed help to cover financial responsibilities as well as physical requirements. Many have great burdens and can not get the assustance that is needed. You are aware of each person’s story. We only see for now the shortages some of Your children face here on earth. We are developing Your vision but can’t see how You over compensate the needy here on earth when they arrive at their eternal home. Please let us always reflect upon Lazurus and the rich man story illustation that gives us a clue as to how you right the scales. I pray someone who has the means will step into Kim’s life to help and it will make an eternal difference for the giver.

Thank You for the clouds and thunder You’ve stirred up just now to give some relief on this super hot day. Being out and about in the heat makes me so much more appreciative of our working A/C. Thank You! But, wow, is it ever looking dark out! Please protect people who may be hit hard by this pop-up storm.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen

  7. My father-in-law is in the ER, and an EKG is going to determine the next step. Until we know what hospital he will end up at, we’re waiting at home (word is there is no place for us to sit, now), but obviously it’s distracting. I have work I need to get done to do–writing, which takes the ability to think, which I don’t really have. And of course we have a daughter away on a road trip.

  8. Yes, AJ, I had my portion of a hospital bill (deductible) totally written off, and our daughter had some medical expenses that were either largely or totally written off–definitely worth checking into, once you know the status of how it’s being treated (workman’s comp, etc.).

  9. No real news on Dad. It would seem he had a TIA (mini-stroke), but not a bad one, but they haven’t confirmed anything yet. He’ll be in overnight.

The friends they were with won’t want to go out to eat with them again, though–that is twice in the last year those two couples have gone out to eat and Dad has gotten confused, thrown up all over the table, and gone away by ambulance. (It was a different restaurant this time, though.) This time a nurse came by his table, checked his blood pressure and pulse, and paid for all four meals at their table even though she didn’t know them!
