“House Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) had been planning to call up on the House floor last week a measure from Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) that would have removed him as Speaker of the House if it succeeded—intending to embarrass Meadows—but abandoned the plan after his entire leadership structure learned that they did not have the votes to re-elect him as Speaker before the August recess.

“[House Majority Leader Kevin] McCarthy was making phone calls—he was whipping it—and so was [House Majority Whip] Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA)
,” a senior conservative movement leader who’s had many personal and direct discussions with various House GOP members about this told Breitbart News in an interview last week.

“I know members personally who were called by Steve Scalise. So they had the entire leadership whip team frantically making phone calls to members to whip the vote because they wanted to attempt to embarrass Meadows and call the vote [on Wednesday last week] so it’s not hanging over Boehner’s head.

“What they found out was the exact opposite. They found out bad things would happen, that literally they would be calling the vote without knowing what would happen. Therefore, they did not call the vote and now they have this issue hanging over John Boehner’s head for the next five weeks.”

  4. When doesn’t he side with the bad guys?

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/08/03/white-house-mulling-intervention-in-massive-judgment-against-palestinians-in/?intcmp=hpbt2

“The Obama administration has signaled it may intervene next week in a civil lawsuit in which 11 American families won a potential billion-dollar judgment from the Palestinian leadership over a series of bombings and shootings that killed or wounded dozens of U.S. citizens, a move that critics say would find the government siding with terrorists over its own citizens.

The families won a $218.5 million judgment in February after a seven-week trial in Manhattan Federal Court in which a jury found the Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian Authority were responsible for a string of attacks from 2001 to 2004 that killed 33 and injured hundreds. A 1992 law that requires damages in such cases to be tripled, as well as interest on the award, would push it to as much as $1.1 billion. The judgment, which the Palestinians are appealing, would equal nearly a third of the Palestinian Authority’s annual operating budget.

Late last month, the Department of Justice, which had previously not been involved in the 11-year-old case, informed the court it was considering filing a “statement of interest” in the case by Aug. 10, but officials would not elaborate. A source said the Department of Justice was working with the State Department on the matter.”

    And here’s another example….

    http://nypost.com/2015/07/26/the-us-mosque-link-between-islamic-attacks-that-authorities-are-ignoring/

“Property records show the mosque attended by the terrorist who killed US soldiers at a base in Chattanooga, Tenn., is affiliated with the same Islamic group as the mosques patronized by the Boston marathon bombers and the 9/11 hijackers who attacked the Pentagon.

Yet federal investigators have dismissed any possibility that the Tennessee mosque was a source of radicalization or support for the terrorist, Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez.

The trustee of the Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga, like the Boston and Virginia mosques attended by other terrorists, is the North American Islamic Trust.

In 2007, the Justice Department designated NAIT as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist financing case in America history, US v. Holy Land Land Foundation, which resulted in convictions and imprisonment of several US-based Hamas terrorist leaders. Current NAIT chairman Gaddoor Saidi also appears on the government’s co-conspirator list.

Court records detail money flowing through NAIT financial accounts to Hamas. In the same exhibits from the trial, the Justice Department lists NAIT and Saidi among “members of the US Muslim Brotherhood,” alongside NAIT’s parent the Islamic Society of North America — from which the Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga derives its name.”

    http://pjmedia.com/blog/yes-obamanet-is-here-meet-connecthome-the-free-internet-that-costs-taxpayers-much-more-than-a-private-sector-plan/?singlepage=true

“On July 15 in Durant, Oklahoma, President Obama announced ConnectHome, describing it as:

… a new initiative with communities, the private sector, and federal government to expand high speed broadband to more families across the country.

ConnectHome is aimed at low-income areas with little broadband uptake, expanding several earlier federal programs. The headlines are about connecting the poor to the modern convenience of the internet, but they don’t mention who’s paying for it. As with most federal programs, you are.

Is ConnectHome worth the costs, and what are they?

So far, the ConnectHome website is thin on details. (It’s even thinner on purchase options; more about that in a moment.) The White House announcement states only that ConnectHome will be grant-funded, to the tune of $150 million. However, there is nothing on how the grants themselves will be funded. I presume that new or redirected HUD grants, rather than FCC-mandated taxes, are a possibility. The announcement says little about how these grants will be administered and spent, other than via EveryoneOn and US Ignite (more about those entities below).”

They get loan forgiveness, we get the bill….

    http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/careersandeducation/student-borrowers-get-a-sweet-deal-and-taxpayers-get-the-bill/ar-BBlsaiu?ocid=U142DHP

“Laura Strong, a 29-year-old in suburban Chicago, owes $245,000 on student loans for the psychology Ph.D. she finished in 2013. This year, she says she hopes to earn $35,000 working part-time jobs as a therapist and yoga teacher—not enough to manage a loan payment of about $2,000 a month. But Strong isn’t paying anything close to that. She’s one of at least 3.8 million Americans who’ve qualified for federal programs that tie payments to income and eventually forgive debt for some struggling borrowers, leaving taxpayers to pick up the tab.

President Obama has praised the programs for offering a lifeline to borrowers who’d otherwise default, scarring their credit. Strong pays about $100 a month on her federal loans, which she used to finance her graduate studies at Argosy University, a for-profit institution. “I wouldn’t know how I would pay it back otherwise,” she says.

Income-based repayment was introduced under President Clinton, but the programs weren’t heavily promoted until late 2013, when the Obama administration began sending e-mails to borrowers, including Strong, telling them, “Your initial payment could be as low as $0 a month.”

The number of people using these plans has quadrupled since 2012. About half of borrowers taking out the Department of Education’s Grad Plus loans, which finance advanced-degree studies, are in income-driven plans. Most borrowers in the programs have payments capped at 15 percent of income, with allowances for housing and other expenses. In December the Obama administration is expected to expand the number of borrowers eligible for a payment cap of 10 percent. In a July 27 speech at the University of Maryland’s Baltimore campus, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan said the plans protect people going into socially valuable but low-paying lines of work from crushing debt. “That’s good for them. That’s good for our economy. It’s good for our society,” he said.”

“The Congressional Budget Office estimates that, for loans originated in 2015 or after, the programs will cost the government an additional $39 billion over the next decade. That’s more than the agency spends each year on Pell grants, the public scholarship program for low-income students. “In a time of scarce resources, is it better to spend money in that way or raise the Pell grant?” asks Margaret Spellings, who served as education secretary under George W. Bush.”

    Good for society? How so?

    http://denver.cbslocal.com/2015/08/04/fbi-middle-eastern-men-intimidating-u-s-military-families-in-colorado-wyoming/

“An alert has been issued by the FBI to all law enforcement agencies in Colorado and Wyoming involving U.S. military families and concerns about who may be watching them.

The alert says Middle Eastern men are approaching families of U.S. military members at their homes in Colorado and Wyoming. It mentions Greeley, Colorado, and Cheyenne, Wyoming, as the specific areas.

In one case last May the wife of a military member was approached in front of her home by two Middle Eastern males. The men stated that she was the wife of a U.S. interrogator. When she denied their claims the men laughed. The two men left the area in a dark-colored, four-door sedan with two other Middle Eastern males in the vehicle.

“The woman had observed the vehicle in the neighborhood on previous occasions,” the alert states.

Similar incidents in Wyoming have been reported to the FBI throughout June 2015.”

    http://thefederalist.com/2015/08/05/obama-killing-humans-and-harvesting-their-organs-is-an-atrocity-that-must-end/#.VcIDVlYUSNE.twitter

“President Barack Obama told a group of young African leaders on Monday that harvesting organs from humans that are killed as part of an African ritual was “craziness” and a “cruel” tradition that needed to stop. He warned of dehumanizing marginal groups of humans and of the problems that arise when “you are not able to see someone else as a human being.”

In a wide-ranging question and answer session with members of the Young African Leaders Initiative [YALI], a woman from Kenya said “Persons with albinism in Africa are being killed and their body parts harvested for ritual purposes. My request to you is to raise this issue with heads of state of African countries to bring these atrocities to an end.”

Obama decried the practice and went on to encourage the young people to do everything in their power to fight on the behalf of vulnerable humans.

“Young people, you can lead the way and set a good example. But it requires some courage because the old thinking, people will push back at you and if you don’t have convictions and courage to be able stand up for what you think is right, then cruelty will perpetuate itself,” he said. He added, “If there’s one thing I want YALI leaders to come out with, it’s the notion of you are strong by taking care of the people who are vulnerable, by looking after the minority, looking after the disabled, looking after the vulnerable. You’re not strong by putting people down you’re strong by lifting them up. That’s the measure of a leader.”
Obama also tied the practice of harvesting organs from albinos with racism and discrimination against gay people and urged consistency in how they view the sanctity of human life if they want to complain about human rights abuses.”

And yet he sees no racism in what Planned Parenthood does…..

  8. The mammogram lie.

    http://www.nationalreview.com/planned%20parenthoods-mammogram-lie-

“The gruesome hits keep coming for the baby butchers of Planned Parenthood. President Obama and his top health officials have one last-ditch response left: Quick, hide behind the imaginary mammogram machine!

As more graphic, money-grubbing undercover videos of Planned Parenthood’s for-profit aborted-baby-parts racket emerge, thanks to the investigative work of the Center for Medical Progress, desperate Democrats are in full deflection mode. Secretary of Health and Human Services Sylvia Mathews Burwell defended federal funding for Planned Parenthood this week by invoking the women’s-health shield. “What I think is important is that our HHS funding is focused on issues of preventative care for women, things like mammograms,” Burwell told the House Education and Workforce Committee.

Just one teeny, tiny problem with this defense: It’s a completely calculated fabrication.

The breast-cancer screening charade casts Planned Parenthood as a life-saving provider of vital health services unavailable anywhere else. You may recall that during the 2012 presidential campaign, Obama himself falsely claimed during a debate that the abortion provider administers mammograms to “millions” of women — and liberal CNN moderator Candy Crowley let him get away with it.

On cue, Hollywood activists Scarlett Johansson, Eva Longoria, and Kerry Washington all attacked the GOP ticket for wanting to “end” funding for “cancer screenings” by cutting off government subsidies for Planned Parenthood’s bloody billion-dollar abortion business. The celebrities in the White House and Tinseltown took their script straight from Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director of medical services, who purported to speak for countless women for whom Planned Parenthood is “the only way” they can gain access to mammograms. (If the name sounds familiar, Nucatola is the same wine-swishing Josephine Mengele who was exposed on video by the Center for Medical Progress two weeks ago lolling through a business lunch negotiating payments for aborted baby parts.)”

  10. I read the military wife story on FB this morning and thought about it for awhile, trying to decipher my attitudes and emotions–what would I have done?

I would have been terrorized, particularly in my CT home set out in the woods and while alongside the US Navy sub base, still remote from neighbors and anyone driving by.

I’m sure I’ve told the story before about my friend whose husband was the CO of the submarine that fired the first cruise missile at Saddam Hussein in Gulf War I.

I didn’t know her then–met her a couple years later–but I remembered being shocked when during the Pentagon briefing (which I watched every afternoon at 1 while I ate my lunch, once a reporter . . . . ) they named the sub. Navy policy was submarines were never named.

That day I wondered about the family of the CO–easy information at the time to get.

When I met my friend years later, I asked. This is what she said–and remember this happened only a couple months after the USS Stark’s CO’s wife had found a pipe bomb attached to her minivan in San Diego.

“The Navy called me at work to report the boat had been named and asked if I wanted to go into protective custody.” {She did not live on base in San Diego, like the Stark CO family)

She was also 6 months pregnant and had a toddler.

“I decided that would frighten my little boy even more, so I declined. They told me to be extra vigilant and I was, but really, why would anyone bother me?”

That was 25 years ago, but another CO’s wife HAD been targeted. I would have moved home for the duration!

This really is a clever ploy to torment military members–NOT protect their families while they’re overseas?

We had a drug deal go down in our military housing area in Hawai’i one night. Remember, military members are not allowed to have firearms in housing, not even BB guns. I woke up to a noise outside our bedroom window: “Stop! Hands up! Put down your gun.”

I sprang out of bed with my husband hissing, “what are you doing?”

I sprinted down the long hallway while the drug guy and the police did the same just outside the windows. THey had a bright light shining in our backyard. I stood behind a wall with the refrigerator on the other side, peeking around just in case there was a bullet.

No bullets, the guy was high on meth and arrested. My husband was furious with me.

The next day in discussion, we learned many husbands were outside in the dark shadowing the proceedings behind trees and watching. When they demanded more security in the housing area–which had long been a magnet for bicycle thieves–patrols stepped up.

The argument was our families are sitting ducks. Why aren’t you protecting them while we’re out to sea for long months protecting you?

I think it’s a valid question, though I have no idea of the answer. With the Internet, you can find out information about anyone–including how much they pay in property taxes, not to mention all the entrances to their houses via _________ well, why tell you? 😦 😦 😦

    http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/us-job-layoffs-reach-highest-level-in-4-years/ar-BBlrXzY?ocid=U142DHP

“Challenger, Gray & Christmas has released its monthly job cuts for July, and it is ugly. The 105,696 job cuts was the highest number since 2011. To put this in perspective, the July job cuts total is a whopping 136% higher than the 44,842 job cuts reported in June, as well as 125% higher than the in same report a year ago.”

“The July report showed that the last time more than 100,000 job cuts were announced was back in September 2011, when there were some 115,730 layoffs.

Another bad trend is that July’s surge now brings the year-to-date job cuts up to a total of 393,368. That is 34% higher than the run rate for the same period in 2014. Also, this is the highest seven-month total since 2009, and that was effectively before the jobs recovery started in the recession.

The only good news here is that over half of the job cuts were the result of massive troop and civilian workforce reductions announced by the United States Army. Those cutbacks are shown to eliminate 57,000 from government payrolls over the next two years.”
    ———————————————-

So now it’s good news as long as the cuts are for military? They’ve spent 14 years at war for this country, and it’s good news they’re now jobless in a horrible economy? And there’s still plenty of cuts to come in other branches. Will that be more good news? Talk about unbiased reporting….. 🙄

Politico reports that Lily Adams joined the Clinton campaign last spring as Iowa’s press secretary. Adams is Richards’ oldest daughter and she previously worked as the Deputy Communications Director for the Democratic National Committee.

In past elections, Iowa has been a battleground for Democrats and abortion groups like NARAL, Emily’s List and Planned Parenthood have dumped tons of money into their political campaigns. For example, in 2012, Planned Parenthood spent $1.4 million on pro-abortion ads in Iowa. In 2008 and 2012, Obama carried the state by 54% and 51.99% respectively. I understand he was quite disillusioned when he found that about half of the Israelis (most of those from Europe who make up the Labor Party) are atheists.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the Apartheid analogy. Apartheid was a rational (if flawed) policy for the Africaaners. The current Palestinian policy of Israel is also rational. However, in both cases there was a failure to recognize that demography is destiny.

“What has arms, legs, eyes and a heart? “Fetal tissue,” according to the three broadcast networks.

ABC, NBC and CBS journalists have not uttered the word “baby” once in their reports on the videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s trafficking of aborted baby parts.

Instead, the networks defaulted to “fetal tissue” in their morning and evening news shows. Additionally, both NBC and CBS incorporated “aborted fetuses” and “fetal organs.” The closest to “baby,” CBS dared to use, was the term “body parts.”

The only time the word “baby” was heard on NBC and CBS broadcasts covering the videos, was when a politician or representative from The Center For Medical Progress used the word. Anchors and correspondents never uttered the word themselves.

ABC didn’t even go that far, and censored “baby” completely. That might be because the network has spent only 1 minute and 27 seconds on the entire scandal.”

” … In my opinion, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz — neither of whom I favor at this time — did the best. In that order: (1) Rubio and (2) Cruz.

” … Christie and Paul may have knocked each other out tonight. That would be okay with me. …

    ” … Jeb Bush — whom I also don’t favor — rallied tonight. …

” … Chris Christie — whom I also don’t favor — was very good again.

” … Trump was Trump — bombastic and dishonest, but also forceful and direct. I doubt that he did anything that will cause many of the 20 to 25 percent that support him to reconsider just now. But I suspect that the significant share of the 75 to 80 that don’t support Trump feels more strongly than before that he shouldn’t be the Republican nominee.

” … Mike Huckabee had a good night. He had the evening’s best line, I thought, when he said of Obama’s nuclear deal and his attacks on its opponents, that Ronald Reagan believed in “trusts but verify” while Obama believes in “trust and vilify.”

” … Scott Walker — to whom I’m favorably disposed at this point — did pretty well. He certainly didn’t seem out of his depth or overwhelmed by the occasion. … But if I’m ranking the candidate’s performance tonight, he’s in the bottom half.

“The other two participants, John Kasich and Ben Carson, did okay, I thought, in answering questions and both had effective closing statements … I can’t see either being nominated, but Kasich probably did his vice presidential aspirations, if he has any, no harm.”

  37. And a well-deserved (I think) tip of the hat to the journalists posting the questions from, of all places, the NY Times.

“It was riveting. It was admirable. It compels me to write a cluster of words I never imagined writing: hooray for Fox News. …”
