It’s Friday, so don’t forget to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.
Anyone else have something to share?
Psalm 51
¹Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
18 Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
I’m slated to speak at a brunch in Ukiah on October 3. They need to put together post cards, etc, for publicity so I need to come up with a topic, pronto.
Michelle?
I have always enjoyed what you have written about prayer and how you pray. To pray sounds so easy, but I close my eyes, start talking to God and a million other things come to mind. Being purposeful in prayer is hard for me. I try but am not always successful. You have helped.
Several years ago I heard a woman speak on the Lord’s Prayer and how it was full of Jewish idioms and just exactly HOW it taught us to pray.
Continued prayer for us as we continue to fumble through. Husband is doing very much better, able to get up and do most of what he used to do. He still is supposed to put his feet up and do his exercises. All of the docs are very pleased with the knee replacements. He is slated to begin the infusion of the forty thousand dollar per session drug, with the potential side effect of instant death, in a couple of weeks. Fortunately, the insurance is in place.
I had fully planned to put three in school this year. The nine year old in hopes they might be able to teach him to read and the two thirteens for our personal sanity. But suddenly the nine year old has become aggressive in his school work. It is like something suddenly clicked on. Prayer for wisdom. I do not believe the benefits for him outweigh the costs anymore but I do think so for the other two. Not that they will benefit but that husband and I and the children at home will benefit. If nine year old can’t learn to read with me, I am willing to give them a try.
Again, pray for husband as he attempts to drive the lemon truck to town so he can trade it in. So far, every truck he has located has sold before he bought it, except one. I would not be surprised to see it arrive this evening. Meanwhile, we just got back from driving some water to him as the truck overheated on the way to town. If it does so again, he will call AAA. As it was, it took a while for him to find a place to get service to call me. I could not find any antifreeze, one of the drawbacks of him being out of the picture for so long, some of the stocks ran low. Anyway, it is pretty much downhill from where he is. Thanks.
Great suggestion, Kim. I’ve sent my idea to the coordinator: Adventures in Prayer: Wild Things that can happen while Conversing with the Creator of the Universe!
Hopefully, they’ll agree it’s an excellent topic. 🙂
