  1. The cat makes me think it is still yesterday.

😦 I forgot to pinch her toe this morning and she reminded me.
On Saturday morning she gets up around five. Of course I don’t. When I get up later, I come in and she is sitting in her LazyBoy barefoot. I always go over and pinch her toe ’till she hollers.
This morning, I went out to see how much rain we had last night. We had lots of wind and lightning and it seemed like a real downpour. Turns out it was just an act. o.1 inches. A tenth of an inch after all that.
But I forgot to pinch her toe.
Does anyone else have stupid customs?
It isn’t a custom, it just happens, but it’s been going of for years.

  2. It is the little things that matter. I always ask Mr. P how his day was when I come home. My dad was six and half feet tall but he always bent over so I could kiss him on top of his head. With BG I tickle her back with my fingernails to wake her. My father’s family calls me Kemper, but Kemp was the family name on my mother’s side. The other name one uncle always called me was Berley. Berley? BURley? Do I look burly to you? Even the Shinglebob my dad called me, I would love to answer to either of those irritating nicknames today. You don’t realize how much they matter until they don’t happen.
Keep pinching her toes. It matters.

  3. 🙂 😦 VBS next week. I dislike being involved in activities that lack the organization that is really needed. Yet—it is a good opportunity to reach young people.

    🙂 Gorgeous summer days.

🙂 Our friend, Kim, will be released from the hospital today. There has been a family dispute about the best place for her to go. Please pray for wisdom and peace among family members as well as peace and healing.

  4. One of the great needs that people have is the need for attention. To realize that they are somebody and that they are there. That is the sad thing about nursing homes, like the one my mother was in the last year of her life. They had their meals but the rest of the time they were in “the parking lot” as I called it. They just sat there doing nothing. Nobody cared.

It reminds me of something I meant to tell several times. But didn’t because I couldn’t remember the details. But the bottom line is significant and the most important part of the story.

Years ago, there was a black coach of Georgetown University basketball team in Washington. He was a successful coach. He invited a black guy to visit the school and attend one of the games.
This guy went to one of his games.
He decided to attend Georgetown. A sports reporter asked him why he decided on Georgetown when lots of schools wanted him. His reply:
I want that man hollering at me.

  5. Stupid customs: When the Kid and I leave the house we put one of the pets in charge. One of us will say something like “Okay Chasey you’re in charge.” or “Everybody mind Piper she’s the boss.” The Kid only argues when I put Katy in charge. He doesn’t think she’s ready.

  6. Cool customs: I once babysat a child who, when tucked in for the night, had me (as apparently customary in his household) kiss one cheek, and then rub it in, and then the other cheek, and then rub that one in too. I thought that one was pretty sweet.

🙂 I just filled AJ’s in-box with photos from our trip.

🙂 I showed self-control and didn’t send him all of them. (Not even 1% of them, for that matter.)

  7. KBells, that is funny because I do the same thing. Even when Amos was an only dog I told him he was in charge until I got back. I still do it. I tell him to keep The Dog Daddy straight”

  8. Somehow I also volunteered for VBS this week. On top of that I am moving somewhere this week, Picking up daughter and adorable, truly, granddaughter at the airport, going to a baseball game two hours away, and attending a bridal shower for my daughter.

🙂 😦 What was I thinking!!! Actually they said they could only allow more children to come if they got more help. So it will be worth it.
