Prayer Requests 6-1-15

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 5

¹Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.

Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.

But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.

11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

  1. Good (early) morning.
Becca-boo and I will be driving back to Houston today from about 10:00am to 3:00pm from Bandera. If you have a minute, please pray for safe travels. Also, while we were visiting my folks and my sister (who had to come to the states for some tests on her kidneys–which have been determined to be a 3.5 on a 10 point scale of kidney disease–please pray for her health!), Becca found a very small kitten (approximately four weeks old) who was abandoned by her teenage mom…all the others in her litter had already died. Becca quickly fell in love with the tiny guy and desperately wanted to keep him. Unfortunately, Scott detests cats and said absolutely not. Luckily, we were able to find a perfect home for him with some old classmates of mine and delivered him to their home yesterday. They are big cat people (both husband and wife) and have access to goats milk, which is the universal replacement milk for most animals. They have rescued numerous kittens over the years and already had bottles, etc. So, while I was thrilled to have found him a loving home, Becca-boo was devastated, even though I’d told her from the moment of rescue that keeping him was not an option. Her heart was broken and she shed many tears last night, crying hard for almost an hour. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so sad… (She is usually one of the happiest, smiliest kids around). Would you please pray for comfort for my precious girl?

  2. Ann, I’ve prayed for her. I’m pretty sure it’s impossible for an animal-loving child (probably esp. a girl) not to ever have her heart stolen by a kitten or a litter of them, even if she doesn’t like cats. (That was me as a child, a litter of them.) Rationally I can turn down a kitten because I have zero desire to live with a cat. But they have about the cutest babies in the world, and cute babies are supposed to melt a female heart.

  3. Heavenly Father,

You made us with tender feeling hearts. Thank You for that way You have made us in Your image. We are compassionate as You are. It is a quality that makes the difference between life and death. You made us want to always save life if at all possible. I praise You for that. Thank You for children who learn compassion at early times of their lives. It will see them through life in good ways. Even so, those first hurts can feel so deep without experience to see the benefits of giving up something for a better situation. Please do help Becca with this deep hurt she feels. You know what is needed to ease her pain. Thank You that she has a happy life so that she knows love all around her. I do remember other children who suffer great loss in the midst of feeling unloved. Please be a great force in their lives for good, too. Please help Becca to realize that one day it will be her turn to be the parent and she can then make different choices.

Lord, please help Kim’s affliction to quickly depart from her system. We all hate to be sick, especially in the warmer days when we want to be outside doing fun things.

Thank You for new possibilities for Lee. Thank You for a buyer. Please provide a good employment according to needs for Lee.

I ask for you to be with Mike today as he continues to suffer. May he be given relief from pain and destruction of his body. Please make a way of repair and restoration.

So many more here deserve prayer for their needs. Please hear throughout the day and night when we continue to remember our brothers and sister here who need Your help.

Thank You for advancing us all to one day closer to heaven.

    In Jesus’ name,
    Amen

  4. My friend, Kim, goes to have a consultation on the mass in her abdomen. She has said that she has been given God’s peace. She is usually quite hysterical about things like this, but has remained filled with peace. Please pray for her and all her family. Her parents have lost three children already and Kim’s children have gone through three of those. They are strong believers and appreciate all the prayer. They know God hears, sees and moves for our best.

  5. There was a terrible tragic death at our Baltimore LCMS church on Thursday. I won’t even tell you how it happened because it’s an image you can never get out of your head and it was really horrible. We were good friends of this man (he was about 45 years old) and really good friends with his parents. They are “pillars” of the church and he was the type who was always there and always helping – it happened in the church as he was working on something. They held the funeral at the church last night preceded by the viewing for an hour. This is a small-ish church that holds maybe 250 packed and the ushers estimated that 600 attended the funeral (not counting those who just stopped by to pay their respects and didn’t stay). People were crammed in everywhere – many in the fellowship hall where they (somewhat unsuccessfully) tried to pipe in the service. Please remember Bob and Carol in your prayers. As you would expect, they are devastated. She told me that she learned a lot about her son by the variety of people who came and what they said to her. It was amazing to see their faith holding them up and she actually told me that through it, she absolutely knows that God is real and is with them.

  6. Our local PCC director was removed from her position last week for unknown reasons–to me. (I’m happy to remain in the dark).

The board of directors member who phoned me with the news was breaking up into tears as she talked. We’re having an all volunteer meeting tonight and I covet your prayers for wisdom, insight, lack of gossip and a true determination to seek the Lord’s will–which I fully expect from this group of spiritually mature volunteers.

Still . . . this angels study has got me over-conscious of the demonic powers and this, of course, is a front line ministry. Thanks.

  7. This morning, Emily & R had their tour of the Catholic school I told you about. Emily filled out the application for enrollment this afternoon.

The little son of two practical atheists (although one may be on the right path) will be going to a Catholic school, & even have “religion classes” at some point (I don’t know if they have those i kindergarten).

    Amazing! Praising & thanking God!
