Prayer Requests 3-14-15

Anyone have a request or a praise to share?

Psalm 85

¹Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.

Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.

Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?

Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.

I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.

10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.

13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

  1. My niece’s daughter (Evi) has an illness called Chronic Vomiting Syndrome. Her latest episode is now on the 26th day. She is generally a very active teen. This is depressing her, not to mention the toll this takes on her body. She cannot see a specialist until July. Please pray for her health, both spiritual and physical. Also, for wisdom for her medical personal and parents in dealing with this rare illness.

  2. The situation here at the Nest: We are back from Boise where husband saw his surgeon and the nurses and everybody to prepare for his surgery next week. They reminded him that he is bone on bone in both knees and should not be able to walk. Well, we took him up in a wheelchair and he has been using crutches the few times he gets up to go to the bathroom. With the RA, he has virtually no use of his hands or arms so getting up and down (toilet for example, or getting in or out of the van for the trip) by himself is out of the question. Our current plan is to take part of the entourage with us to Boise for about a week and a half where the seventeen year old will entertain them while I am at the hospital with husband. We hope to leave one thirteen year old here with the neighbor and the two older boys here at home with the neighbor’s oversight. Getting to and from the hospital will be a challenge as I rarely drive but it will be managed. Ideally, I would know somebody who would be able to stay at the house and supervise all of the children and chores but I don’t know that person.

Prayer for wisdom on how to keep the home running and care for the children, while focusing on husband and helping him with his difficult time and future. Prayer for patience and energy for the upcoming months of rehab coming before the next surgery on the other knee and then the post surgery months. And especially, pain relief and hope for husband. Thanks.

  3. That sounds so hard, Kathaleena. Praying for Evi and her parents and all involved.

Mumsee, I will lift these requests up to the Lord. Many, many needs, so I printed out a copy of your post so I can remember them all.

  4. Heavenly Father,

Thank You for grace that You give freely to Your children. You could just slam Your fist down and squash us like we deserve sometimes, but You give grace instead. Help us to extend grace quickly when needed as an imitation of You.

Lord, that teenager, Evi, has an almost overwhelming problem. Being a teenager has enough up and downs without having a painful disease, unpleasant and restricting social interaction, and having to wait so long to see a specialist. If there is any way You can make this go away, please, do so. I know parents and friends suffer over her suffering, too. Help them all to endure through this if it must continue for your ultimate good purpose to be recognized. Bless them all with positive attitudes.

Lord, I lift up Idaho Mike to You for a comforting touch to ease his pain. The logistics of taking care of all during the time of hospitalization needs Your fine tuning over all the details. Please show Your power and control over the details making sure all are safe and in good situations. Please give Mike good surgery, good pre-op, and excellent recovery. These big needs are in Your big hands.

Lord, please help us again yo make it through another tax season. It is always a difficult time. I have had such a lot of alone time this year. Thank You for my blog friends that give me social contact. Thank You for always letting me feel Your presence so though alone, I rarely feel lonely as some would expect. I lift up those who do suffer from lonliness that they make know the comfort from that available from Jesus.

Thank You, Lord, that 6 Arrows is feeling much better. Thank You for seeing her through and helping her feel lifted through the prayers that fell upon Your ears for her benefit. Also, thank You for giving Kim special time with BG.

Please give safe travels to Michelle and Jo. May they find themselves in pleasant places with loving people. Please help Roscuro as she waits for Your provision. Thank You for providing for her parents.

I lift up Kbells and Karen Os and others, families’ needs, when the waits seem so long, and the needs so great. You know the details of what each family needs in the way of employment, home repairs, support systems, etc. Please ease the strain and burden however You see as best.

Thank You for taking care of those unmentioned by name. I never have enough time for all the prayers needed, so I look to the Holy Spirit to groan about the others in that most effective way. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  6. My friend Norma received bad news from her CAT scan — liver cancer — but I just spoke with her and she sounded good. She’s 82 and has been battling this for so long (before this she’d dealt with a serious heart condition that at times appeared to be life threatening). I suspect she’s somewhat processed what could be the ultimate outcome in all of this.

But still …. I was crushed when I heard, it took the wind out of me. I had taken my disabled friend shopping at Target when a friend from church called on my cell and gave me the news; I hadn’t talked to Norma yet, was set to call her as soon as I got home.

Not the news we were hoping for, that’s for sure. I guess after her surgery in October I was hoping there would be a couple years of health & rest.

And on top of it, her cat isn’t doing well. 😦

She lives alone with no family but she has many very close Christian friends of many years who are all standing around her. She had lunch today with our former (retired) pastor and his wife who are especially close friends of many years.

Another friend of ours from church who moved to Colo. last year (and lost her 90-something year old husband shortly after that) also learned this week that her breast cancer had returned after 17 years so they’re dealing with appointment on how to deal with that. She told me it’s just been especially hard as she’s having to go through it without her husband as moral support. 😦 But she’s surrounded by believing family members there, several children along with grandchildren & great grandchildren.

  7. So glad to hear those pain meds are helping, Mumsee!

Donna, so sorry about those friends. It’s good they’ve got support systems, though, and you are being a good friend to them.

  8. Karen O, how is the six-year-old girl you mentioned who has pneumonia?

And Kare2012, are you feeling better? You said you were home from work the other day, sick with, was it a deep cold? Thanks for the extra praying you said you would be doing that day, too. I appreciate it.

  10. Well, the pain meds may be working. Or it may be having eldest son here to help him get his papers in order so some of the stress is off. The pain seems to have dropped from an eight to a four, unless he moves. He can’t use his hands for much. i need to raise the water to his mouth and feed him, put the blankets on him, etc. He can’t get on his computer to play Spider or anything. He can interact with the family. Trying to figure out what is next for him. Wisdom, please.

  11. Mumsee, my dad’s doctor encouraged him to have both knees done at once. It worked for him. I am sure Mike’s doctors are helping him make the best decisions. The following song was sung in church this morning and became my prayer for Mike
“In the weary hours of sickness, in the times of grief and pain, When we feel our mortal weakness, when all human help is vain. In the solemn hour of dying, in the awful judgement day, May our souls, on thee relying, find thee still our Rock and Stay”

  12. Kim, Mike kept trying to get them let him have both done but the surgery for each will be so long, they don’t want him under that long. Plus they had several other reasons to say no. So he will have one at a time.

  13. If that is what his doctors want to do then I am sure they know best. Except for diabetes at the time and several past surgeries Daddy was in good shape when they did his and the doctor recommended he do both because the recovery is so hard. With Mike having other issues it may need what strength there is in the other leg to help him rehab. I have yet to receive my medical degree much less my specialty in orthopedic surgery. 😉

  14. 6 Arrows – Dakotah, the little girl with pneumonia, is home again, but her lungs aren’t clear yet. Her mom will be sending her back to school on Tuesday, but she’ll still have to take it easy at school. I’m sure they are relieved it did not get worse. Thanks for praying!

  15. You’re welcome, Karen. Thanks for the update. I’m glad to hear she’s out of the hospital.

Kare, hope you slept better last night. And good that your cough is going away!

Continuing in prayer, Mumsee. It’s not always easy to know how much activity is too much, or not enough. Praying for wisdom as Mike searches for the balance.
