Prayer Requests 2-24-15

Anyone have a request or a praise to share?

Psalm 69:1-18

¹Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord God of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.

Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.

I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.

For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach.

11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them.

12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards.

13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O Lord, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.

14 Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

15 Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

16 Hear me, O Lord; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies.

17 And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily.

18 Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies.

  1. The leader of our Bible study asked me to lead today as she is with her son who had surgery. Please pray as this study is quite long and we have a couple of talkers in the group, making it hard to finish. Pray that I would lead clearly in love.

  2. Praying for you Jo.

I have a praise. Several years ago there was a terrible bus crash near our small community. The people on the bus were traveling from Mexico to Colorado at Christmas. The weather was terrible, 9 degrees with blowing snow. The bus wrecked with 2 fatalities. One little boy was in really bad shape with facial injuries, almost degloved. We have always wondered what happened to that boy, and if he was able to recover without horrible disfigurement.

I went to a disaster training in Albuquerque this past weekend. I was visiting with one of the ladies sitting next to me. She mentioned that she was with the Red Cross. I told her what town I was from. She immediately asked if I responded to the bus crash. I told her the role that I played in it and mentioned the little boy. I said we had all wondered how he turned out in the end. She got this beautiful smile on her face. She was assigned to follow this boy. She helped get him placed in Carrie Tingley (a great children’s hospital). They helped provide lodging for his father. She followed him for 6 months. And she said he was beautiful! No visible scars, able to run and play and be a normal child. Praise God! You cannot imagine the joy when I came home and called fellow EMT’s and told them this good news.

  3. Two prayer requests today.

    1. For my friend Jenn, whom I’ve mentioned here a few times. Her health keeps getting worse. She has severe endometriosis, some kind of blood disease that makes her sick & makes any surgeries (she’s had several) life-threatening, the results of a botched surgery from a few years ago still bother her, neither her colon nor her bladder work anymore (she has a colostomy & whatever the one for the bladder would be called), her tailbone sticks out way too far (not sure why), she’s in pain most of the time, & her doctor has said her body is more like that of an 80-year old than a 42-year old. She is also mostly wheelchair-bound due to these issues.

In addition to all that, her medical costs, & the various special things she needs each month that are not covered by insurance, are a huge burden. And yet she has such a sweet, inspiring spirit.

Please pray for God’s healing touch upon her, & for salvation for her husband & grown daughter & son. (I’m pretty sure Jenn is saved.)

Thank you for praying for her.

  4. 2. You’ve read my little rants about YF (Young Friend) & her very liberal, anti-Christian worldview. YF claims to be a devout Christian who loves Jesus with all her heart, & yet her views are so very unbiblical (especially her support for abortion) that I wonder if she can really be truly saved.

Recently, YF announced that she is giving up Facebook for Lent. She wrote, in part, “I mostly do lent for me–to prove I can keep a commitment of sacrifice and to use the time and energy to better myself and focus on things that should be more important to me.”

Notice she didn’t say “to draw closer to Jesus.”

So my thing for Lent is going to be praying for her – praying that God draws her closer to Himself, opens her eyes to see what His word truly says, & helps her to turn away from these unbiblical beliefs, & embrace His ways. Of course, I am also praying those things for her sister (Chrissy’s best friend), & for my own girls.

    Thank you for praying.
