Prayer Requests 2-4-15

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for the Gambia.

Anyone else have something to share?

Psalm 49

¹Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:

Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.

I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.

Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

(For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

10 For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

12 Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.

13 This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.

14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.

15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

16 Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.

19 He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.

20 Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.

  1. Thanks to all who prayed for my sister. She found out yesterday that it’s not a brain tumor. Praise God!!! Her thyroid isn’t working properly and they changed her medication. They’re now concerned about her kidneys and she’ll be doing more lab work later in the week in Chicago. I’d appreciate it if you’d keep her in your prayers. Thanks!

  2. Have I ever seen the truth of this psalm in the last month! So many things we hold as treasures are not so to others, nor appreciated by them. We certainly cannot take them with us. At the same time, we live joyfully with all God has blessed us with.

    I appreciate continued prayers for me and my siblings with dealing with my dad’s estate and caring for my mom. The stress of this and sibling issues has made for some real difficult times.

    Today I am especially grateful for “ordinary” days. My husband’s music group will be jamming for some senior citizens this afternoon. Being home and doing the chores has been nice. 🙂

  3. Wisdom for the doctor this morning as he sees husband for his arthritis. Doctor won’t be happy that husband started himself up on prednisone so he could walk. Thanks.

  4. Good to hear your report, Ann. I’ll keep praying for your sister.

    Praying for your husband, Mumsee.

    Could you say a little prayer for my piano student who normally comes on Wednesdays — an eight-year-old boy, M — who has been sick all week?

    Also, safe travels home for his mom, who has been traveling with cousins. The boy’s grandmother has been staying with him in his mom’s absence, but he misses his mom, especially since he’s gotten sick.

    Thanks.

  5. Apparently, the doctor has determined that husband has severe rheumatoid arthritis and needs to take weekly injections of a drug that is so expensive, people need help meeting the co payment so it is set up for that. Sounds like lots of rotten side effects as well. Thanks for praying.
