Prayer Requests 1-26-15

Anyone have something they’d like to share?

Psalm 41

¹Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble.

The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.

The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

I said, Lord, be merciful unto me: heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee.

Mine enemies speak evil of me, When shall he die, and his name perish?

And if he come to see me, he speaketh vanity: his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he telleth it.

All that hate me whisper together against me: against me do they devise my hurt.

An evil disease, say they, cleaveth fast unto him: and now that he lieth he shall rise up no more.

Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

10 But thou, O Lord, be merciful unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them.

11 By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

12 And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, and settest me before thy face for ever.

13 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

  1. OK, I made an error. My father’s procedure is this morning, not Friday. Friday was more tests. If everything goes OK, he’ll leave the hospital later today. If they have to put stents in, he’ll be staying.

The weather is not good, so things could get hairy whether he comes home today or tomorrow.

  2. Today, one of the seventeen year olds should be having her wisdom teeth out. Or not. We don’t know. She is going in for a consult but last time I took a seventeen year old in for a consult, they took them out then.

Also, thirteen year old goes in for speech therapy testing today. I don’t know what that has to do with getting her in to public school but it is their next step.

And, as a praise, thirteen year old did get baptized yesterday. But not without drama. I was not there as I was in Moscow but apparently, our church baptizes at the beginning of the service so she was gowned and taken up to the baptistry. Husband heard squeals and cries and etc as she determined that the water was too hot. They had it up to ninety degrees. So, they decided to delay it until the end of church. Meanwhile they added twenty gallons of cold water and a bag of ice. They got it done eventually.

    Thanks for praying.

  3. No extractions today and after four years, eighteen year old still did not get her braces off. They told her for sure this time but they have been saying that for a year and a half. Wisdom teeth will be next month.

  4. Braces can be difficult for teens.
They didn’t have braces when I was a kid. (Not that I knew of, anyhow.)
that’s why my bottom teeth are crooked. But people seldom see them.

  5. They did not do braces in Japan when we were there. You looked like you and that was good. But in the case of one bio children who had a severe overbite (he knocked out his two front permanent teeth when he fell out of bed because they stuck out so far) he got them, and four of these bio children did due to various issues. One of them had few adult teeth to grow in and needed her mouth rearranged to accomodate the few. They over moved her jaw and had to move it back and over did it again. Another had several teeth overgrowing each other and no space for them. Another had serious speech defects due to the shape of his mouth. He can now speak much more clearly. I have no idea why the fourth one got them. I am happy with my crooked teeth and was not bothered by them in the past either. I am just glad they work.

  6. H in Sicily could use some prayers. Health insurance (cobra) was canceled and she has a chronic ailment that requires expensive meds. In addition, the former mayor of her town–twice her age–has invited her out to dinner and she’s leery. As she noted, American movies do single American women no favors when they travel alone. We’re considered easy pick ups . . . 😦 Even when married.

OTOH, she had great news. Her paperwork has come through and she will not need to return to the states for a new visa and that is terrific. Ministry continues and it’s going well.

  7. Chas, my bottom teeth are crooked too, but they don’t show when I talk and usually not when I smile. Mom took me in to the dentist at one point to talk about extractions/braces, whatever, and she said he was more interested in my little brother’s teeth, which she didn’t consider a problem. Basically my canines are in sideways, and if they weren’t there my other teeth could move over and be straight. But they don’t extract canines, and no one ever figured out any sort of plan. By the time I was in my mid-thirties and a dentist mentioned it again, I wasn’t interested in mid-life braces and wearing something at night the rest of my life.

  8. Cheryl does not wear anything at night? That is way too much information for us, Cheryl.

Kare, I just realized what you were talking about with the ninety degrees….I kept trying to figure out what you were talking about and looking for the appropriate prior comment. I talk way too much if I can’t even remember what I say…..
