¹I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest.
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.
13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me.
14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.
16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.
17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.
Prayer for husband and family as I head out to Moscow to discuss options with dad and stepmom and brothers. They are very pleased with daughter’s work so that may give them more options.
Prayer for wisdom for us as we try to help them make good decisions. Thanks.
Short-term (for today): prayers for productivity. I didn’t sleep the greatest last night, and I have several things I want to get accomplished today, but it’s often been hard for me to work diligently on days that I have to push through tiredness. It’s almost 10:00 and so far I haven’t done anything on my list of things to do other than my Bible and devotional reading.
Long-term: I am thankful for the two piano students I have now. I do enjoy teaching them for a variety of reasons, but one of the reasons I am admittedly teaching again is for financial reasons. I would like to get my studio built up enough that my teaching can cover our property taxes (and business expenses, which are minimal).
I need four students to earn enough to completely cover the taxes. A fifth would also cover business expenses, and a sixth would help us go ahead.
We don’t have an emergency fund (we’ve had to borrow money from relatives a couple times when large, unexpected expenses came along), but I am hoping to be able to establish our own fund so we don’t have to rely on others to help us in a pinch.
The needs of the day for many feel like a mountain avalanche yet You are known as the mover of mountains. What is an avalanche to You except for a pile od minute atoms that You control. Praise You!
All these requests are brought before You acknowledging Your great power to know what is best and make it happen. I trust in You to act regarding the needs of AJ’s family, Karen O’s family, Kim’s son’s family, Kathaleena’s family, 6 Arrows’ family finances through increasing piano students (ditto that for my friend Melissa), for Donna to feel security in You when the news world feels shaky & for more complete rest from long reporting days and nights, for Annms’s family needs such as help for her mom, reconciling hurt feelings, and school adjustment for L., peace and relaxation for Jo along with renewal of financial support, blessings upon Roscuro as she proceeds with new goals, blessings for Chas and Elvera as they they bless us by their example, and Father God, You know the others i have not mentioned like Nancyjill and Kare and Kessler and BB and Drivesguy, and all, meet thir needs, too. Please, share our abundance of moisture with CA so they can continue to share crops with us. Please give some steady soaking rains, but not floods, as You know how floods can damage. Thank You for Cheryl and her caring spirit that told me about the need for salt. Also, I lift up friend Tom that he would quickly recouperate from surgery.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
Asking for prayer for our daughter in CA…she is having a CT scan Monday morning…evidently the doctor used the word “cancer” and she is undone…she is experiencing intense abdominal pains…to the point of doubling over/unable to move. I am resting in His peace and trusting Him in all things ❤
Please give Nancyjill’s daughter the stamina to go through this ordeal. I pray this evening that You will cause that pain to break up and quickly diminish whether through working of pain meds or through the healing touch of Jesus. May she feel Your comfort surrounding her and protecting her from fearful thoughts. Please keep her mind stayed on You and give her Your gift of peace to see her through. Please help all worried family members to fully rely on You as they go through this with her. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
Praying nancyjill, I hate the ‘c’ word. But they have to throw it out there, even if it’s unlikely (I remember when I was going in for surgery, the obgyn/surgeon said it didn’t look like cancer, but just in case, would I sign this paper to allow them to do what they needed to do if that were the case (it turned out to be endometriosis). Scary.
(And now I’m seeing the those who have endometriosis are at greater risk of developing ovarian cancer. Great. I never read anything like that at the time — but that was 25 years ago and since it hasn’t been a problem since, I haven’t really kept up on the literature; so maybe this is something they’ve learned since then.)
Almost 20 years ago I had a similar experience Donna…as I signed the papers before surgery, my dear doctor used the c word and said we would deal with it when and if it happened….the biopsy came back clear after all of that unknowing…we were so very thankful…he even wrote across my medical chart “YES!! Thankful”…I go back every year for a check up just so he will have peace of mind! 😛
Please pray for Emily to cry out to God for help with Forrest. She often gets so frustrated with him, & ends up yelling, sometimes very loudly, &/or shutting herself in her room for a while. This morning I heard her yelling loudly, & I could hear the frustration & beginning of tears in her voice (Emily is not normally a crier).
I prayed that God would prompt her to call out to Him, even if it’s merely a frustrated “Oh, God, help me!” without even really believing, as people often do. Then, when she does, that the Holy Spirit would flood her with peace, & insight & wisdom of how to deal with the particular situation, & she would know beyond a doubt that this came from God. And of course, then she would turn to Him & be saved.
My [single] sister is having bariatric-band surgery tomorrow. She lives about 90 minutes away so I will be spending the week with her as she recovers. We love each other and get along great even though we disagree on just about everything. She’s a “flaming” liberal and what she calls a “Buddhist Quaker” (“I’m OK, you’re OK, everybody’s OK, and Jesus was either a myth or a nice guy”). As always, I pray that I’ll be a Christian influence to her and that God will work in her life.
It’s a beautiful sunny day which is especially nice on a Sunday. Thank You.
Each day there are new needs for intercession. Thank You for carefully considering each need brought up on this thread. You are good to let us know in Your word that Jesus is our intercessor, too. May all the requests made above have a fruitful outcome. Help the unsaved in their hour of need feel the Holy Spirit tug at their hearts. Help them to feel the sprouts of new life possible on the spiritual level as they struggle on the physical level. Help them to gain balance in understanding Jesus as the Way to the One true God.
Lord, i lift up Mumsee and Mike with all the children and young adults that they care for. Please provide abundantly for them and especially as they make decisions regarding the parents.
Could you all say a prayer that a lost dog named Lucy can be caught before the blizzard hits us tomorrow evening? There’ve been several sightings of her running loose for about a week,& I’ve been following the attempt to find her on our town’s Facebook page. Her owner has been in Florida for the week, & posts about the sightings that have been mentioned to her, thanking people for keeping an eye out for Lucy.
Finally, today, someone said what I’d been thinking – that the owner should get home & work on finding her dog herself. But it looks like she’s staying in Florida for a bit longer.
Anyway, I feel bad for this beautiful Rottweiler dog out there alone, on survival mode & probably getting harder to catch, as someone suggested, with this blizzard coming.
Back from up north. We ended up calling for an ambulance for my stepmom and she was admitted to the hospital with a UTI without the normal symptoms. She is on antibiotics and should be there another couple of days. They are very pleased with daughter and she plans to stay on as needed.
As far as me going to the funeral of my two aunts in Los Angeles, we were trying to figure out the logisitics when I realized, if we all leave, my dad is left alone up here with a very sick ninety two year old wife. I now plan to stay and help him in my brother’s absence. They are more needed at the funerals than I am. Thanks for praying.
Pray for us to work out some details to get to the funeral of my husband’s brother.

Rain please. Essentially none in January so far– traditionally our rainiest month.
Weather, unfortunately, is gorgeous.

Thanks for praying. Supper is in the crockpot and the kitchen is clean. That makes me feel quite a bit better. 🙂

By dinner, Donna, do you mean what I called supper? Or do you mean what my husband calls dinner, which I call lunch? 😉
Our first meal after breakfast today: leftover lasagna.
Our second meal after breakfast today (what’s in the crockpot now): split pea soup.
You’re welcome to come over for lunch, dinner, dinner, or supper, Donna. 🙂

I think they ALWAYS have to warn about cancer — whether or not it’s even likely or not …
But praying still …
