¹Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
5 The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Lee is asking prayer for a lady named Annie, whom he sees every day in his deliveries. Annie lost her father a week or so before Christmas, & now her mother, who has terminal pancreatic cancer, is in hospice on comfort care, meaning there’s not much time left for her. (I don’t know if they are believers or not, so prayers for salvation, as well as comfort, couldn’t hurt.)
This reminds me to ask prayer for a friend of mine from early high school in Ohio, now a Facebook friend, Anne. Anne lost her mother, & one of her beloved dogs, within a couple weeks of Christmas. Anne never married, & her mother had lived with her. She has a bitterness towards Christianity & God, apparently (according to her) due to some hypocritical Christians she grew up with (possibly within her family), & maybe some painful life situations that have happened along the way. (A mutual friend told me that Anne has suffered from depression, & was once suicidal in her early 20s.)
Anyway, please pray that the God of all comfort will reveal Himself to her, & she will be saved & comforted. I think there’s a part of her deep down inside that wants to believe.
Prayer please, for husband, who is suffering mightily with arthritis today. He is barely able to move at this point which is especially difficult because he is visiting with his dad and step mom, brother whom he has not seen in years who spends lots of his time deployed out of country. He decided to go with the approved rheumatoid arthritis treatment rather than what he was doing and is paying a big price. But he gets his next knee shot tomorrow so that may help. Thanks for praying.
Hypocrites are my dad’s excuse, and yet he admires us and various others when he sees us acting out our belief. He is envious but not willing to take the step.
A friend’s excuse also is “hypocrites” from her childhood church-going days. But she’s gone the route of making God in her own image, basically, and is very satisfied and comfortable with the idea of “God” without any church or corporate connection. She considers herself a believer on her own terms, sees no need for anything beyond that in terms of seeking God or her own sanctification.
It’s curious to me because it’s neither a love nor hate response to God, but rather a benign dismissal of it all, in a way.
Young son has caught a cold and is quickly going into an asthma incident. I have his inhaler and nebulizer up and running but would appreciate prayers for a quick resolution into easy breathing for him. Thanks.
Chrissy got in safely, a little before 12:30am.

A pastor once said that if a hypocrite keeps you from God, that means the hypocrite is closer to God than you are.

I made an uncalled for comment on facebook and have now privately asked for forgiveness. Please pray that this sweet gal would forgive me.

Yeah, a lot of people blame “hypocrites” for their own bitterness. That’s why I included “(according to her)”.
