Prayer Requests 12-22-14

Anyone have a request or a praise they’d like to share?

Luke 1:26-38

26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

  2. Speaking of jobs…

I’ve been praying that, when Lee is finally able to sell his route, God will provide him with a really good job that will comfortably provide for our home & family, be enough to pay off debts fairly quickly, & enough to make some needed repairs in the house.

Lee says he’s willing to take a full-time job & a part-time job, but I am asking that he’ll find a job that pays enough that he won’t have to do that, & that he’ll have time for a full night’s sleep each night, & have more time to spend with his family.

From a “natural” point of view, that is maybe asking too much. But God’s word says that He “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think”.

  3. Prayers for wisdom for my son as he considers a new job. It would mean leaving the city that they love and his airlines job, both hard to give up. That he and his wife would be of one mind and heart and clear on God’s leading.

  4. Looks like we’ve got a jobs theme going on this thread. Prayers, ladies.

Along those lines, I have a praise regarding 2nd Arrow’s job situation. I reported last week that she passed her board exams and is now a Certified Vet Tech. I didn’t realize until this weekend, though, how much pressure there was on her to pass them. The place where she works requires certification within one year of employment, and she got hired last June. If she hadn’t passed this time, she would have only had one more opportunity to take those tests (which she said were far more difficult than she’d expected), and if she had failed both times, she would have lost her job.

I am praising God that the pressure is off now, and she can continue in the field she’s trained for and loves, especially at her current place of employment, one of the best places to work in her field in our region.

  5. Another praise report. Thank you to all who prayed for my husband’s first cousin who had the cardiac arrest some weeks back. She was hospitalized for two weeks, the first week of which she was in a medically-induced coma. After discharge from the hospital, she continued recuperating at home for one week, then went back to work!!!

She goes to therapy, and has a defibrillator (?) in her chest (that’s what her mom said — I wondered if she meant pacemaker, but I’m no medical authority). Anyway, she seems to be doing well, which is quite a relief for her husband and 13-year-old daughter, among many other relatives. God is good.

  6. Prayer request came in while I was reading these. One of my elderly Bible study ladies is in the hospital with an infection. Her daughter left yesterday, driving, on a long planned trip to her husband’s side of the family for Christmas. Ellen will be out of the hospital tomorrow; weak and a little disoriented even on a good day. She’s got a son in town–who will probably care for her with his family–but the caller is concerned.

Prayers for Ellen, and also for the caller Elaine–one of those souls who retired as a nurse two years ago and spends all her time, now, caring for the elderly widows in our congregation. Elaine slipped and broke her arm last week . . .

Some of my ladies are looking gray–including Ellen–which makes my heart ache.

    Thanks.

  7. Along these lines, not Michelle’s but the job and school stuff: sixteen year old daughter who will turn seventeen in a couple of weeks, has been invited by grown daughter to come live with them for a while. Renting a room and getting a job to begin the ongoing path to her future. Younger daughter has some issues with others in the family and we do not want her running away from her troubles as eighteen year old daughter did. Sixteen is the racist and the one with the thought that everybody should meet her standard. Older daughter will not put up with it, of course, but is interested in offering a step forward.

And seventeen year old son who just graduated from the youth challenge has been invited by his bio sister to come live with them where he also would get a job and begin moving on (he turns eighteen in a few months). He is also considering jobs around here, college around here, and the military. Lots of wide open opportunities for both and we want them to be confident in what they have learned here as well as we will miss them if they go. But they both know they are loved and will always have family here.

  8. Prayers offered for above requests.

Today is my oldest brother’s 58th birthday. Prayers for his salvation would be greatly appreciated. He seems more open to the possibility that the gospel is true recently than ever before. Thanks.
