Prayer Requests 11-25-14

Does anyone have something they’d like to share?

Psalm 141

¹Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.

Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.

When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.

Our bones are scattered at the grave’s mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.

But mine eyes are unto thee, O God the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.

Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.

10 Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.

  1. Talked yesterday with a childhood friend whom is gay. He is very active in the gay rights movement. He was arguing that the extreme religious right has no grounds to claim their religious rights are being trampled on by gays seeking to end their discriminatory ways. Somehow, the conversation turned to abortion rights, and while I held my tongue on the other issue, I couldn’t not express my pro-life views. My friend became angry at me and said I couldn’t force my beliefs on others. The whole conversation left me feeling sad. He is an atheist. I ask for prayers for his salvation. His name is Garrett. Thanks.

  2. We have relatives flying today from NYC, Kansas City, Idaho Falls and El Paso. One more comes from Hawaii tomorrow. My real concern is my daughter driving up to the Bay Area after 7 pm. My husband observed I told her 5 times on the phone last night to be careful . . .

She’ll pick up a Stargazer around midnight in San Jose. They should be home by 2, if the traffic is thinned enough.

So maybe I won’t sleep tonight?

That might work. I can get the house organized all morning, spend the entire afternoon driving 60 miles and back to the Oakland airport to pick up the Idaho crew, and then write all night . . .

  3. Michelle – At least go to bed, pray, leave it in God’s hands, & at least try to get some sleep. Your being sleep-deprived won’t help anyone.

  4. Prayer for peace, calm and some kind of a way forward & out of the unrest in the wake of Ferguson. I was a teenager when the Watts riots occurred and a newspaper reporter who lived in the curfew territory when the ’92 LA riots erupted. These things have a way of exploding and leaving such scars.

  5. Praying, ladies.

Updates on yesterday’s requests: The tension I mentioned that was building in our home as Thanksgiving approaches has now shown very clear signs of dissipating, and I do believe that will continue. Praise the Lord for this wonderful answer to prayer!

Also, regarding 3rd Arrow’s opportunity I mentioned late on the thread, my husband and I talked about it (around 2:00 a.m. or so 😉 ), and are pretty well decided that we should help our daughter seek alternatives to this opportunity that would still utilize her giftings, but in an environment more suited to her needs. We haven’t made a final decision, and my husband said he’d think about it more today, but this is how we are leaning.

I did talk with my daughter a little today about her dad’s and my discussion — some of what we saw as the advantages and disadvantages of the idea. She was actually having some hesitations about the venture herself this morning, before we’d even talked, having thought further about the matter herself after the phone call. I mentioned some of the alternate routes that might be feasible, and she seemed pretty receptive to those ideas. In fact, she is working right now on some of the things I mentioned could be a good complement on the road to developing her gifts.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. It was hard to shut my brain off last night, but in the midst of it all, I felt great peace that God in His mercy was faithfully leading us, as He always does.

  6. My niece’s plane out of Idaho Falls had a problem thus left late, thus missing her connection in Salt Lake City. She’s traveling with her luggage carried on, along with a three year old and a three month old. (This is the woman who climbed a tree to escape a grizzly bear while six months pregnant, so the hauling gear and kids angle doesn’t bother her).

The new flight has a 15 minute layover in SLC. She’s now flying into San Francisco rather than Oakland, landing at 5 o’clock. Traffic should be . . . indescribable. But she’s coming! And we’re eligible for the diamond lane!

  7. Dakotah has made some small improvements today. She is still in critical condition but there are beginning to be signs of hope. They have taken her ventilator down from 100% oxygen yesterday to 60% today. They tried an experimental medicine, which is in the testing stages, to help the bleeding to stop. Still waiting on lab results. Last I heard, she was about to have a cat scan, to try to find the cause of the bleeding. (They were unable to move her yesterday to do the cat scan.) Pray that moving her today doesn’t cause any episodes.

So, she is doing a teensy bit better, but still not close to being out of the woods.

    Thank you for your prayers.
