🙂 Election’s over
🙂 Repudiation of Obama’s policies by the bulk of the electorate.
🙂 We no longer have Eric Holder. I don’t know if the lady is any better, but she can’t be worse.
I see where NAACP has rejected Tim Scott and Mia Love.
Amazing!
What that really means, and NAACP seems to understand, that the NAACP is no longer relevant to anything.
Chas- Ever since Clarence Thomas was nominated for the Supreme Court we have known how Liberal an organization it is. Anyone who is Conservative is not considered as one of them.
🙂 New piano student starting next week! My first one since having made my decision to return to piano teaching after an 11-year hiatus. (Well, hiatus from teaching piano to children other than my own.)
😦 Slacked off quite a bit in teaching my own kids piano in the last year or so.
🙂 However, some of them still play piano on their own, so their enjoyment of it and initiative to sit down at the piano is alive and well, and there is certainly blessing in that.
🙂 I’m enjoying more time at the piano myself this past year, having prepared for piano shows. And my kids are getting a music education hearing live music regularly right in our home.
🙂 I do have other things going on in my life besides music. 😉 Just not a lot of time to list them all! (Those things show up here and there in my comments on the daily thread most of the time.)
🙂 Thanksgiving gathering at our home this year, and my sister and her family who live on the East Coast will be here!
🙂 I had a quiet but happy birthday this week. After completing my morning job, I went and picked out my favorite fresh fish from the supermarket. My parents and I shared a hearty meal and then went on a little shopping excursion along one of those charming main streets in small town Ontario, filled with interesting shops. Our destinations were a miniature store (yes, I bought furniture for my doll house as I couldn’t resist 😉 ), an art store carrying the work of local artists, a local chocolatier, a used bookstore, and a grocery that sells local produce. The day ended with gingerbread cake, using the traditional family recipe for birthday cake.
🙂 My client had a very lucid day this week and told me all about her experiences training as a milliner as a teen in the 1930s. It was fascinating.
🙂 I finished the third unit of my biology course – only two more to go! I am over halfway finished the first unit of my English/writing course. Time to get back to work.
I just finished preparing my SS lesson.
Our teacher is away, supplying as preacher at some church. I am teaching Hebrews11:1-7 for him tomorrow. Of course, I am not limiting myself to those verses.
I point out that everything the writer has said so far is summarized in 10:38 and that 11:1 is a definition of faith. Then he talks about the faithful and then concludes with 11:39 “All these, having a good report, received not the promise. That they, without us, should not be made perfect.” And that applies to us, that we are preparing the way for those to follow. We are accountable to them.
Illustration: The Pilgrims faced nothing but hardship and had no assurance that any good would come from their venture. But they had faith. (I’m not going to mention that their efforts led to Harvard.)
🙂 Happy birthday to roscuro and yay for 6 arrows and the upcoming piano lessons.
🙂 Election results were heartening. It’s been a rough 6 years.
🙂 😦 Extra busy at work with two special projects I’m working on along with a lot of daily news to keep up with. I like what I do and generally like to be very busy doing it … but sometimes it can reach an overwhelming point, which it has in the past couple weeks. I just want to hibernate for a while now, but there’s housework to be done, of course.
🙂 My Christmas lights are up and ready to go. A true (and tacky) confession: I never did get them down from the front porch last year (luckily those new tiny ones don’t “show” too badly when they’re off!). It was on my “to-do” list from January to March when I finally thought “oh, why bother now?”
So finally here comes the payoff. For the first time ever, I will be the FIRST in my neighborhood to turn them on the day after Thanksgiving. Ha! How efficient I’ve become.
Happy birthday, Roscuro. That sounds like a fun day. My mom has built several doll houses, in addition to several shadow box displays. One of those is a replica of the kitchen in her home way back when. She does the wiring along with everything else.
She also has built lots of miniature furniture. She does the dressers with drawers that open and works with a miniature lathe. She started on this hobby after reading a book I loaned her. I had bought the book thinking I would love to do that someday. I never did do it, but she has taken full advantage of the book.
Yes, Cheryl, I have completed my third decade. A dear lady at church, who firmly believes all birthdays and anniversaries that are divisible by ten are to be marked, gave me a card that contained a sum of money equal to my age 🙂 I can’t say I looked forward to this milestone, but maybe I won’t be treated like a teenager the way I was in my twenties – I was once told by a woman, who had known me since I was a child, that I still looked fourteen (I was 27 at the time).
🙂 Went out for an unofficial, mutual birthday dinner with a friend whose birthday was in October.
🙂 Walked the dogs, seemed extra peaceful out tonight.
😦 Weird (but for us, typical, really) fall weather (Santa Ana/desert winds). It’s hot and very dry during the day, cold and very dry during the night. Bad conditions for sinuses.
😦 Missing church this morning. I was absolutely so beat, I guess, after the past week at work and then going out last night. I just slept and slept and slept this morning, didn’t get up until 10 (which is when church begins!). Hate missing church, but sometimes your body and mind just need the extra rest I suppose. It did feel good.
🙂 I spotted — briefly as I turned over once — some fog outside of the bedroom window this morning so maybe our dry conditions will soon be gone. My hands feel chapped.
Roscuro, that was one reason I looked forward to 30. It seemed like an age that was fully adult, no questions asked, but still young. I found out after I reached 30 that you’re always “young” to someone. But after 30, I figured it’s someone else’s problem if they think of you as too young. . . .
😦 Some extra babysitting time coming up this week, because of a change in Emily’s school schedule (just for this week) & her date on Thursday. (They’re meeting in New Haven, which will be a three hour round trip, plus the time they spend on their date.)
Instead of having her “clinical” (the all day, hands-on class) on next Saturday, she has it on Wednesday this week, because it is at a different place. Because that place is kind of far from us, she will be leaving very early in the morning. She will be gone all day, then has regular classes that evening, & will finally get home around 10:30. That’s the day I’m really kind of dreading. I’m tired just thinking about it.
🙂 I am trusted with caring for my grandson for long periods of time. This is his home, so it doesn’t feel like a big deal when his mommy leaves him with me.
🙂 He may be crazy & messy & loud & a bit too physically exuberant at times, but he’s also a sweetie.
🙂 Chrissy’s help with the babysitting. And Forrest is going through a phase of wanting to play with & spend time with his Auntie (that’s what he calls her – Auntie). He misses her living here.

I mean by that: NAACP is no longer needed. They car go to Furgeson and stir up trouble. But that’s all.

Was this the big 3-0 Roscuro? I looked forward to that one for 15 years and hinted until a friend threw me a party when it arrived. 🙂
