Prayer Requests 10-28-14

Anyone have a request or a praise they’d like to share?

Psalm 118:1-16

¹O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.

Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.

It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord will I destroy them.

11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.

12 They compassed me about like bees: they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.

13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the Lord helped me.

14 The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.

16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.

  1. Travelling to Edmonton, AB today. Fresh wet snow on the ground. Please pray for travelling mercies and a good time visiting with friends and families while husband works. Thank you.

  2. Is it OK to ask for prayer for a kitty? Our Buster (featured in a header photo here this summer) got out yesterday morning and has not been seen since. We (especially hubby) are heartbroken.

  3. Praying for you, Kare. And Linda, yes, certainly I think it’s OK to ask for prayer for a kitty. You and your husband have my prayers.

Donna, it was good to hear that there was just the slightest glimmer of evidence that Jane’s heart may have been softening. (I think I’m remembering correctly your most recent update on her before today. Wasn’t there a clergyman involved?)

I have an update, as well, on a request I’d made here in the past. And before I had a chance to type up the update (praise), I got a phone call, and now have TWO praises!

First, regarding the extra job my husband thought he would have to take, which would take him away from our family for all of my children’s waking hours on weekdays, well…he’s not taking that job. Just yesterday, a friend called him and said, “I found a truck for you.” It’s only $500, and is in quite good condition for how little it costs. Plus, it is the same kind of truck hubby has here that he’s been using as a parts truck (the one that got smashed up in a hit-and-run accident when 1st Arrow had parked it on the street one time while at a work meeting). We came out good with that deal, as far as what we got from the insurance company, and there are many usable parts yet, which hubby will be able to use on the new truck. After doing that, and purchasing a few more things that he doesn’t have (at a cost of about $200-300), the “new” truck will be in great condition, and hubby believes could easily be sold for $2500. And none of the work is major, so he should be able to make a quick turn-around, and then some, on his investment.

Praise the Lord! Hubby feels like this is God’s way of telling him that he should continue with his vehicle buying/selling side business as he has been, which means our children can be with him while he is doing this work, which would not be the case if his second income was working for another employer.

And the second praise is…I got a phone call from someone interested in piano lessons! The boy and his dad are coming for the prospective student interview on Thursday, and may start as early as next week! There is also a cousin of the child who sounds interested and lives in the area, so I may soon have a second student! Both children have dads (they are brothers) who have experience and interest in music, so I believe they will be committed to helping foster good practice habits at home, and be an encouragement to their children in their music studies.

I am so thankful to God for these breakthroughs!

  4. Prayer for husband and some of the boys as they are going camping along with their elk hunting. Husband does not camp. They are expecting snow. Should be…interesting. Also, today, fifteen year old is driving the neighbor to a doctor appt about three and a half hours away. Tomorrow he will drive to camp with eight year old and they will all be up there for a few days. Or not. Depending on if husband runs out of camping fun.

Husband also just started some nasty medicine for his not arthritis. It is supposed to make him tired and sick. Not a fun way to camp.
