  1. I hope NC voters are paying attention.

    http://freebeacon.com/politics/hagan-put-judge-up-for-federal-appointment-as-judge-ruled-on-husbands-million-dollar-lawsuit/

“Just a week after Sen. Kay Hagan (D., N.C.) recommended a North Carolina judge to President Barack Obama for a seat in the U.S. District Court, the judge ruled in favor of a company partially owned by Hagan’s husband.

The senator’s husband, Charles T. “Chip” Hagan, was a managing member of Hydrodyne Industries LLC when it sued a regional water authority for drawing water out of a river that had one of its hydroelectric dams built on. The lawsuit sought millions of dollars in damages and was carried out by Chip Hagan’s legal firm.

Superior Court Judge Calvin E. Murphy ruled the case in favor of Hydrodyne, setting the table for the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority to pay millions in damages to companies including Hydrodyne.

Murphy’s ruling was made on Oct. 23, 2009, just nine days after Sen. Hagan sent his name to Obama to be nominated for a lifetime seat on the U.S. District Court for Western North Carolina.

Hagan withdrew her recommendation to Obama after North Carolina’s News and Record contacted her office about the apparent conflict of interest, telling the paper that she “was not aware that Judge Murphy was hearing a case in which my husband had an interest.”

    Sure Kay, just a coincidence…. 🙄

  2. Moldova is a small landlocked country between Ukraine and Romania.
There is a man in our Lions Club who is president of the Moldova World Children’s Fund. Our club makes a yearly gift to an orphanage they support. He spoke to our club about the Fund
and the situation in Moldova. He handed out a newsletter. There is a paragraph in this newsletter that I thought might be of interest to you.

“Since the collapse of the USSR a quarter century ago, Moscow has been actively distributing Russian passports to anyone in Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia who could be convinced that being caught anytime in the future without “the proper papers” would be a serious risk to themselves and their families. In the process, collecting detailed personal information on the unsuspecting. People often hid their new passports presuming to have an inexpensive security ticket for uncertain times. Now Putin justifies his seizure of territory by claiming that he is protecting Russian people. For many exposed people who are, in fact, not native Russian citizens, the fear of reprisal is daunting, as there is a rapidly growing concern that they can no longer rely on the West for help.”

There’s more, but that is the paragraph of most interest.

  3. We start early voting this Thursday. I already have the sample ballot marked so Elvera will know how to vote. The problem I have is the “non-political” positions Specifically, the various judicial positions. We are mailed a list of candidates with their biographies and statements. Its difficult deciding with the scant information we get. Certain things influence me positively, eg. I have been described as “a brave, independent jurist’ and a “Constitutional Conservative”. That phrase persuades me over the one that says, “preserving individual liberties” and “values of integrity and fairness”.
To me, the “individual liberties, and fairness” may mean the right to smoke pot and marry anyone you please.
It isn’t easy to sort this out. Much of the damage to this country has come from the courts.

  4. This, from Drudge:

The race in North Carolina for Senate is well on its way to being the most expensive Senate race in history, expected to top $100 million by the time it’s over. The contest between incumbent Democrat Kay Hagan and Republican challenger Thom Tillis is also turning incredibly ugly.

Churchgoers in Fayetteville returned to their cars Sunday to find a political flyer on their windshield — which is to be expected 16 days before an election. But this flyer was different from the normal “Vote for candidate X” or “Oppose ballot question Y” fliers people are used to. This flyer was a picture of the lynching of a black man by a white crowd with the words “Kay Hagan Doesn’t WIN! Obama’s IMPEACHMENT Will Begin! Vote in 2014.”

The church is Kingdom Impact Global Ministries, a predominantly African-American congregation. Dawn McNair’s daughter found one of the fliers on her mother’s car and noticed the picture. “My daughter said, ‘Mom, look in the background. They’re lynching somebody.’ It’s the lynching of an African-American man,” Dawn told the Fayetteville Observer.
The message to the black parishioners was clear: Vote for the Democrat to protect the black president

  5. Pffft….

    You want ugly?

Abortion Barbie’s campaign in Texas takes the cake in that category. First you run a commercial calling into question your opponents “disability” and seeming to make fun of his handicap.

Next she runs an ad saying “Stand with Wendy Davis” while showing her opponent in his wheelchair. Low, even for Democrats.

Then run an ad saying he’s opposed to inter-racial marriage and sex toys. He’s married to a Latino woman by the way….

Wendy Davis and Democrats…. Lowering the bar.

  6. And it begins…..

Who needs dead voters when you can just rig the machines? And where else but Crook County.

    http://illinoisreview.typepad.com/illinoisreview/2014/10/cook-county-voting-machine-miscasts-candidates-vote.html

“Admitting his confidence in Cook County ballot integrity is shaken, State Representative Candidate Jim Moynihan (R-56), was shocked today when he tried to cast a vote for himself and the voting machine cast it for his opponent instead.

“While early voting at the Schaumburg Public Library today, I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” said Moynihan. “You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat.”

While using a touch screen voting machine in Schaumburg, Moynihan voted for several races on the ballot, only to find that whenever he voted for a Republican candidate, the machine registered the vote for a Democrat in the same race. He notified the election judge at his polling place and demonstrated that it continued to cast a vote for the opposing candidate’s party. Moynihan was eventually allowed to vote for Republican candidates, including his own race. It is unknown if the machine in question (#008958) has been removed from service or is still in operation.”

Expect more such stories. After all, the machine workers are SEIU members who dump millions into Dem coffers yearly.
