Prayers for my friend Norma who (finally, after 5+ months of tests and poking and probing and appointments that took much too long to schedule as medical office staff kept dropping the ball) goes in for surgery today at 11:30 a.m. (pacific time).
The plan is to do a laparoscopy first, to scope out whether the 2 masses appear removable. One appears to be next to the liver so it will depend on whether (and how much) it is attached to the organ.
She’s been such a dear friend for about 15 years now and so many people in church are praying and pulling for her. She’s 81 so a surgery like this also could be tough to recover from, but it was better than the alternative of doing nothing. Her faith is strong, but her body has been flagging through all of this. And she’s just plain tired, she just wants this all to be somehow over with.
That was me on the Ipad–at least it spelled correctly!
After a lovely memsahib experience in Carmel, I got bad news on my novel–which now pretty much means I start with a blank page this afternoon to rework. I’ve been struggling with the emotional fall out from that.
(Though I will say I got a really lovely rejection letter on Friday)
So, after quite a bit of prayer, I got up this morning to read Oswald Chambers. Today’s title:
“Individual Discouragement and Personal Growth.”
!!!!!
Laughing, and feeling better. Thanks for your prayers. Maybe around 3:30 when I stare at a blank, new page to begin again? 🙂
Please pray for our part time receptionist. She has something on her thyroid and is having a scan today at 4. Both her grandmother and her aunt had thyroid cancer and she is nervous.
Update on Norma, they have decided to do the full-on surgery and remove the tumors, still in surgery. This is a good thing, of course, but she’ll be hurting. Keep praying for a successful operation, thanks.
Whew. Norma Update — Surgery finished (4 hours), they took two large tumors out. Sounds like he got the totality of each one and prognosis sounds positive, She’ll be in the hospital for another week then some time in a rehab. Thank you again for your prayers, so grateful it sounds as positive as it does.
Thanks for your prayers, and your affirmation, Jo. I got a similar affirmation from a writer I respect who didn’t even know what was happening in my life today. Funny how God does that, isn’t it? Or is it just me? 🙂 Much more cheerful tonight.
Struggling in a black place. If you could pray for me, please.

That is a real cryptic request Anon.
I’ll send it up anyhow.
