I was reading in Luke, Ch 2 and came to the part where the shepherds were keeping watch by night. There is a note explaining the “watch by night”. So I looked at the note. It said, “or, the night watches“, ???? How does that explain something? It immediately reminded me of the incident in an English class in high school, eons ago. We came upon a definition of the word “fundamental”. The meaning? “Pertaining to a fundamental”.. We all, including the teacher, got a laugh out of that.
In reading that part of Luke, I try to imagine how Mary felt as she was telling Luke all about this. It is several years after her son was crucified, and the church was established in Jerusalem.
Chas, a couple of years ago my husband and I went up Grandfather Mountain to see some various things on it. One of the employees told us that some car commercials are filmed there, some of the “closed-course” settings. It is easy to see how they could close the mountain for a couple of hours to most traffic–in fact, there probably are normally some hours they are closed that could be used. I imagine other areas used for commercials have the same sort of ability to limit access. They may even use fake “neighborhoods” that are used for movies and TV shows.
Chas, what Cheryl said — we get a lot of filming where I live, including for some car commercials, and they literally close off the block or several blocks.
I still see one commercial running (Honda?) that was shot right in front of our historic downtown movie palace.
But it’s like a regular filming set, they clear out everything and everyone for hours.
I figured it was something like that. Or photoshopping. It would be cheaper to rent a couple of blocks in a town for a couple of hours. Say from 7-9 a.m. on a Sunday morning.
😦 Discouraged by seeing I’ve bought stuff in the past (now expired) that, in some cases, were never used. Wasteful. I seemed to have bought a few bottles of malt vinegar — I suspect when I buy fish I think to myself “do I have any malt vinegar?” and, thinking probably/maybe not, I buy another bottle. 😦 Ugh.
😦 I’ve been working through a Christian book about sanctification and, specifically, how to change habits you want or need to change. This is one more to add. It’s a rather long list.
🙂 I found an unopened, still-sealed box of Girl Scout cookies in one of the cupboards. They had a “best by” date of August 2014. But I suspect they’re still good. 🙂 Maybe I’ll take them to the office on Monday.

Have you noticed in car commercials, there’s always only one car on the street.
Sure, I know why they do it. But I don’t know how.

🙂 A gorgeous sunny day for Camp Kadesh’s annual Celebration Fundraising Dinner & Silent Auction.
😦 a looooong day starting at 10:30am and we won’t get home until after 11pm. Ugh.
😦 Popped my jaw yesterday while eating supper. Ouch. Couldn’t even chew the potatoes. It’s better today, but still sore.
🙂 Parents are coming for a visit this week. Hope I have time to spend with them where I’m not exhausted.
🙂 Husband had full feeling and use of his hand this week, it has since gone backwards, but that’s to be expected and he should regain that use again.
🙂 Seeing the friends on this blog supporting one another – thank you, AJ, and the rest of you.
