🙂 There is a new instrument, a camera that can, with a picture taken of the eye, reveal much abut the status of the eyes. I don’t understand all of it. It is new and expensive. At our Lion’s Club meeting I heard that they were demonstrating it at a sister club in Etawah.
They tested a preschool girl and discovered that she has a growth on the back of her eye that could turn into brain cancer.
She will have an operation. They say they will be able to save her life and probably her eye too. They caught it just in time. It was a good day for us.
I need to finish preparing a lesson on the 7th chapter of Daniel.
Heavy stuff.
I disagree with the lesson commentators about the meaning of much of this.
I’m teaching what I believe.
🙂 Just catching up with all the normal things of life. We spent last week building our relationship with one of the grandchildren. Since none of them live in our area, it takes a little bit of work to be an influence. It is so worth it and enjoyable, too, for the most part.
🙂 Our little five year old grandson made a new friend at a park this week. He got a little irritated with his new friend always calling him, “bro”. Finally, he said, “Why do you keep calling me bro? I am not your brother, but God is our real dad.”
😦 All the pitting of one group against another these days. The rich against those not rich; the union workers against those not in unions; government workers against the rest etc. No wonder God tells us, “Envy rots the bones.” and “Do not covet..” It is just so easy to do. Of course, we all have to consider real problems and policy issues. Still, it seems there is a whole lot of coveting going on.
😦 🙂 My SIL and grandson had a car accident. The car was totaled, but they were fine. The father was driving and fell asleep. I hope the son will take note about how quickly accidents happen. He is just starting to drive.
🙂 After a week or more of being sick, my husband is feeling better.
😦 I ended up not being able to attend the funeral of the friend (not really a close friend) who died, because at the last minute I didn’t have a way to get there. At least we got to the visitation.
😦 It has been a very weak summer as far as work is concerned. I’m working on other projects that may bring in income long-term, but we have some big expenses coming up, and some more income would be good.
🙂 We ran into our dentist at the grocery store last night, and compared dog photos. (She got a new puppy.) I do like small-town living, where the people you do business with become friends. (Of course, she is also the reason for “the big expenses coming up” due to some work she needs to do for my husband.)
🙂 Busy week with some light stories to write — on a giant rubber duck and a tall ships festival.
🙂 Editor told me to leave about an hour early last night after I’d filed my last story, I guess since I’d worked an extra long day on Wednesday. Sweet to get out early on a Friday.
🙂 😦 I have an appointment with the Apple store geniuses today to try to sort out connection issues I’m having with the work-provided iPhone. Before that, it’s up the vet’s to pick up Tess’ thyroid medication. Lots of driving today.
🙂 Looking forward to church tomorrow. Just because I always look forward to church. 🙂 Highlight of the week for me still, after all these years.
🙂 Our pastor is still on break (through late September), it looks like he and his wife had an incredible Hawaii trip over the past couple weeks from their fb posts & photos. Second only to the honeymoon, she said. 🙂 A much deserved break for them. But it will be very good also to have him back in the pulpit.
I’m the kind of person who needs to be told ahead of time, as much as possible, if there is a change in the general routine or in my expectations. I need to be able to “process” changes, so to speak, to avoid being too stressed. So…
😦 Learned at almost 5:00 yesterday evening that Lee & Emily had decided she would work with him this morning, since her LPN school is on break. That meant I would be babysitting, without Chrissy’s help & companionship, on a day I thought I had off, not to mention having to get up quite early because Emily leaves at 6am when she works with Lee. And I had trouble sleeping last night, too, wouldn’t ya know.
Due to Forrest being up when his mommy was, it turned into six & a half hours of babysitting.
🙂 He found something quiet to do for some of that time. A rarity with him!
😦 I found out the night before that I will be babysitting this coming Friday night, while Emily gets together with her cousin, whom she hasn’t seen since in a while, because R refused to take his son (on a night he is supposed to have him anyway) unless Emily tells him who she’s going out with & what she’s doing. Emily refuses to play his game, so she’s not telling him. It’s none of his business.
🙂 It is truly a blessing & a privilege to have my sweet, crazy little grandson growing up in my own home, being a part of his daily life.
🙂 Forrest & I shared my left-over lasagna & salad (from dinner out with a friend). He was very pleased that I said I saved it just for him & me.
Chas, my girls sure wouldn’t like the “closer than an hour” part of that. They’ve been blessed to spend most of their lives within an hour of all four grandparents and all their aunts and uncles, and most of their cousins. (Some of their cousins have moved a bit farther away.)
😦 NY publisher passed on Poppy.
🙂 It’s out to others.
🙂 It’s God’s book and I’m not responsible. Sort of.
😦 Face is a mess but I’m feeling better.
🙂 Other than the face, my husband thinks I’m more relaxed than I’ve been in ages.
🙂 I feel more relaxed! 🙂
😦 I need to lose 20 pounds by Thanksgiving under doctor orders.
😦 I don’t think that’s going to happen.
🙂 Lost four pounds Tuesday night! The hard way. 😦
🙂 Life is good and I’m thankful for much.
🙂 Hillary is 65+% toward the money she needs.
😦 She’s leaving in four weeks.
Bought a half dozen donuts yesterday and they were excellent, tasted like Krispy Kreme. I gave one away, now am taking two to church to surprise someone. I don’t need a half dozen for myself
😆
I heard a joke from the pulpit that I’ve never heard before. A real rarity.
The pastor preached of “Forgiveness”. Hence the joke.
A guy was stranded on a desert island for about 20 years.
Finally some showed up to rescue him. He said,
“Before we go, let me show you what I did in the island.”
So, he showed them three buildings.
“This is the house, I build it for myself.”
So, they said, “What is that building?”
“Oh,” he said, “I built a church”
“OK,” they said, “What is that other bui9lding?”
“That’s where I used to go to church.”

When Elvera takes over the country, it will be illegal for a grandchild to live further than two hours nor closer than an hour away..
