Prayer Requests 7-7-14

Does anyone have a request or praise to share today?

Psalm 9:1-11

¹I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.

I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.

When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.

For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.

Thou hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.

O thou enemy, destructions are come to a perpetual end: and thou hast destroyed cities; their memorial is perished with them.

But the Lord shall endure for ever: he hath prepared his throne for judgment.

And he shall judge the world in righteousness, he shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.

The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.

10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, Lord, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.

11 Sing praises to the Lord, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.

  1. Please pray for clear direction for Lee, & that God would bring him an answer soon. This route is just too much.

He works 14-hour days, & that doesn’t include the 90-minute round trip going to work & coming home, nor does it include all of the time he spends doing his orders, nor when he has to take care of problems with his truck. Then, on top of that, he goes out for a few hours on Sundays, & often on Wednesdays if needed.

On his days “off”, he is usually busy with other things he has to work on at home. He tries to spend as much time as possible with Forrest, but he wishes he could spend much more time with him, because he knows Forrest needs his male influence.

Lee had come to a place of acceptance of the situation, which is good, because God doesn’t usually move us out of a circumstance while we are fighting against it (which could be fighting against His will).

Then this morning, the muffler on his bread truck fell not-quite-off. If it had fallen all the way off, Lee could have still driven the truck, but no, it came down enough to make it so that he couldn’t drive the truck. He had to make several calls to find a place that handles mufflers for box trucks, then had to wait for a tow.

He will do as much of the route as he can squeeze in today, try to finish it up tomorrow (along with tomorrow’s stops), & might have to work a regular work day on Wednesday to catch up.

I just don’t know how much more this man can take.

    Please pray for him.

  2. I don’t want to be whiny, but I could use some prayer, too. I still battle feelings of depression on & off, & lately it has been more on than off. I don’t know how to describe this without going into a lot of detail, but I am trying to figure out how to organize (time-wise, chore-wise, etc.) my life, trying to come up with some new routine, with a babysitting schedule that doesn’t lend itself to fixing one kind of daily routine. There are some other little things going on that I’m trying to make peace with.

Now that the McKs have moved, I found that I was trying to fit the life I used to have, before Emily & Forrest moved in, into the life I have now. But I can’t fit my old routine into a week that now includes babysitting 30 or more hours.

  3. Karen, maybe Lee could get a job working for someone else. Elvera’s younger brother worked for PYA (Pierce, Young Angel- I think). It evidently was a good job. The only problem is he got real fat because he delivered to schools and those ladies always wanted to feed Ted. And Ted loved to eat.
    Anyhow, it might work.

  4. Chas – Lee is in a kind of “Catch-22”. He shouldn’t sell his route before he has a job lined up, but he can’t line up a job when he doesn’t know how long it will take to sell the route. He can’t just walk away from it, as tempting as that may be, first of all, because he is a man of integrity, & also because we’d still have tens of thousands of dollars to pay off.

But yes, he would like to sell it. So far, he hasn’t thought it was the right time yet, but he may feel that time coming closer. A little while ago, on the phone, he said we need to pray together about something tonight.

Even with the “Catch-22”, I know that God can work out all the seemingly-impossible details. It may seem impossible to us, but nothing is impossible for God. 🙂

  5. Chas – Your story about your brother-in-law getting fed by the ladies reminds me of something. One of the nursing homes Lee serviced had a little old lady that would remark on how handsome he was, or some similar compliment. 🙂

  6. Good news. Because of the help Emily gave him while she was working this morning (by going ahead of him to the stops & “pulling returns”), Lee only had to skip two stops, which he can make up tomorrow. He will still be pretty late getting home, but at least it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. And he won’t have to work Wednesday.

  7. Prayer here, please, looks like husband will be coming home. The boss is being very helpful. But it is hard because it is work he loves and is very good at with people he enjoys and he will probably never be able to do it again.

  8. oh, dear Father, be with Mumsee and Mike during this hard time. Confirm for them both Your will in this decision and give them peace. If there is a creative way for Mike to continue part time, show both Mike and his boss. Thank you for the blessing of a helpful boss. And, dear Father, thank you that Mumsee will again have Mike walking alongside her day by day as You do with each of us.

  9. Heavenly Father,

You hear prayers rising up to You about the above mentioned requests. Please help in each need as You deem best. You do make us wait for Your best. Help us to be patient always seeking to do Your will. Please gift us with contentment when our wants at time exceed our needs. Please give needed help to those who are weighed down with too much work.

Thank You for the wonderful gathering of blog friends at Linda’s home. You are so great.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen
