  1. Such a week! Finished off the school year 🙂

🙂 Vacation began so am not getting up before 6am ! 🙂

🙂 spent 4 afternoons helping with the quints. They are 19 months old and have lots of energy.

😦 My renters are leaving my house in California, but not quite done clearing everything out.

🙂 Property managers showed the house today to two couples and one is filling out an application 🙂

🙂 I get my new car this week, on Tuesday. Thinking of just keeping the old one for my friend to use. She has had my van for several months after getting a stress fracture in her knee. They said that she shouldn’t walk these rough roads, so she has had the van.

I worked for the Federal Government for a lot of years. Twenty seven of them permanent-full time. With all this talk about VA executives and others getting bonuses, I have to say, I have never gotten a bonus. I don’t know of anyone in DoD getting a bonus.
I don’t know what’s with the others, but we never got bonuses.
But the pay and perks were good. I’ll have to say that.

  3. I’d like a grant, please.

😦 Two people are arguing with each other on one of my FB posts (a story link, I can’t even remember what the story was but I often post bare-bones links to my news stories or other articles from our paper’s website).

It’s always awkward, you feel responsible for the argument somehow. I think one person just “blocked” the other. Sigh.

  4. 😦 If we could just realize our enemy is not flesh and blood. If we could just think of the admonition of 1 Cor. 13 and what some of the fruits of the Spirit are. Donna, I share less and less on fb, because of that. It is not pleasant. I find that there are those who find the biggest offence or way to twist everything. There are a few who make everything political and absolutely ruin any real discussion. I seriously weigh whether someone will actually benefit from a post. I have seriously thought of unfriending some, not because I don’t love them, but I hate the continual sniping. I have not done that yet, but may have to at some point. I feel your pain.

🙂 The good aspects of fb. The joy of seeing the photos and connecting with people far and wide. The privilege of being able to pray for others when they need it.

😦 Too many activities happening on the same weekend and having to choose.

    🙂 What a small problem!

🙂 Finished a sewing a purse that has been a “to do” for quite awhile. 😦 I remembered why I didn’t want to ever do this again. I do learn something every time, but I do wonder why I decide to do it.

😦 Rain, rain, rain. The mosquitoes were so thick on the window screen I could hardly see through it. 😉 At least it isn’t snow. 😀

  5. My husband worked for a company that gave bonuses at one point. The interesting thing was that a lot of that time, the bonuses were actually based on another part of the company having good productivity. We never could figure that out. Somehow it was worked out between the union and company. We did enjoy any that came our way. Like most benefits, the biggest ones came after he retired.

  6. 🙂 My husband is coming home today after being gone all week (PCA general assembly).

🙂 I had a delightful visit to the zoo in his absence . . . the chance for photos like the one above kept me from seeing many of the “zoo animals” in enclosures, but that was definitely OK.

😦 Saw the doctor again about my toe this week, and he’s sending me to a podiatrist.

😦 Family stress, missing my hubby, toe stress, and doing more fun things have kept me from being quite as productive this week as I had planned.

🙂 I think I did OK as a single mom (work transportation, cooking, telling bad news, listening, translating daughter and dad to each other long-distance) . . . but I’m glad I don’t have to do it every week.

🙂 But I made it through the week, and my husband is on his way home.

  7. 🙂 Daughter off on life (see prayer requests) after a fun visit helping at VBS and partying with her siblings every. single. night.

    🙂 I did get some work done on the book . . . .

🙂 Boss off until Wednesday which means FOUR days of writing nearly full time (other than teaching Bible study).

🙂 Looking hopeful to finish my book rewrite by June 30. Thanks for those who have prayed.

🙂 Looking so hopeful, I’m even thinking of taking a four day vacation in July!!!!

🙂 Surprising new writing assignments and yet another ridiculous (but lovely) twist with The Yuletide Bride. I’ll let you know when it’s announced. Silly, for sure . . . but Walmart is involved.

😦 Drought is deepening. 😦 I guess I should visit Kathleena in MN for a rainy vacation!

  8. Cheryl, what’s wrong with your toe?

🙂 Stories every day (and then some) this past week, which means the week flew by.

🙂 Vet couldn’t see any tooth or gum problem with Tess, but he does want her in for a teeth cleaning in 30 days. I just can’t figure out why she so suddenly refuses her chew chip after eating now, it used to be greatly anticipated by both Tess & Cowboy — they’d grab them and race out to the backyard to chew. Now Tess acts very odd about it all and refuses it (I even tried a different flavor, but no go).

😦 She’s always struck me as a very sensitive, smart and complicated dog (as most border collies are). There’s a lot going on between those two ears that I can’t always figure out or “read.” But she’s eating well and otherwise seems to be herself (loves the walks, etc.).

😦 The state of the world and (especially) our nation. I wonder if the U.S. will ever rebound? Only God knows and can bring that about. But it seems doubtful these days from where I sit. Even the prospect of celebrating the 4th of July is dimmed for me this year. 😦

😦 The last 6 years have been especially discouraging. And we still have a couple more to go before there’s even a prospect of something better. But do Americans even want something better? It just feels like we’ve lost our way as a people and I’m afraid therein lies the real problem. An election won’t fix that. The leaders merely reflect … us, and what we’ve become. Lost, muddled, without a vision … 😦 😦 😦

🙂 God rules the nations, using it all for His glory and for His design for history. It’s the grand tapestry that we can’t quite envision from our vantage point of sitting beneath it. All we see are random, loose threads that seem to have no clear pattern showing how this all connects to God’s plan.

  9. There is a new news channel, One America News.
They are so new that they don’t have advertising yet. I don’t know who they belong to.
They claim to be “just the news”, but they are very conservative, almost the conservative equivalent of MSNBC. But the reporeretts lovely, FoxNews equivalent, but obviously not as talented.
They all have long hair, and in most cases it hangs over their right shoulders.
    😕

  10. 😆 I knew thirty years ago that it would come to this.
On TV, a bald headed long haired hippy. He is bald, but he still has the edges long and tied in a bow. Looks funny, but he likely doesn’t know it.
I posted some time ago, what would happen to those men and women who have a sex change.
You can’t change the essence of what a person is.

  11. 😦 Kathaleena, I woke up at 5 this morning wondering what that noise was. Was there a tap running somewhere, was it the water softener, then I realized it was the sound of mosquitoes outside, sigh…

🙂 Stopped raining long enough for me to weed the perimeter of the garden AND to mow the whole property

    🙂 It’s a beautiful humid day outside

🙂 Celebrating friends’ 30th anniversary tomorrow along with the husband’s 65th birthday. They have new border collie puppies. I hope I get to see the puppies

    🙂 Puppies!

  12. Kare – I don’t think “beautiful” & “humid” go together. Unless, I’m in air conditioned comfort, & I can look out the window at the beauty.

  13. I remember the summer when my grandmother (in Iowa) was selling her house & many of her things at an auction so she could come live with her daughter in LA.

I was in college and went back to meet up with my mom and other family members helping out.

At the end of the day, I was in one of the upper bedrooms (probably the one I always had when we’d go visit through the years) and the place, because it had been open all day, was swarming with mosquitoes.

    shudder.

I love the midwest but would have trouble tolerating the summers (more than the winters, I think).

  14. Karen – it was a cooler day, so the humidity wasn’t oppressive. But I love humidity even on a hot day (swimming pools are helpful on those days)

  15. 🙂 Some of the Friday funnies are showing up in the Times-News opinion pages.

😦 Our pastor preached his last sermon here this morning. There is a reception for him & his family this afternoon.

😦 I still don’t know the status of our SS teacher. I’m going to be prepared for next Sunday.

  16. 🙂 We ended up having a beautiful weekend. The weather was beautiful and we managed to keep the mosquitoes were tolerable when we needed to be outside.

I sure wish we could send some of this rain to where it is needed.
