Prayer Requests 6-3-14

Anyone have a request or praise to share with us today?

I would like to ask for prayer on my mother-in-law’s behalf today. She is having hip surgery this morning. It would be most appreciated.

Psalm 128

¹Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.

For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.

Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord.

The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.

Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.

  1. I spoke with my daughter Sunday night. Here’s the latest from UCSB:

Isla Vista is a dismal place. People don’t feel right about partying as usual, it’s hard to study, finals are next week and everyone jumps when a car backfires. Few people are on the streets.

Professors are being very kind–basically telling the students they can have which ever grade is higher, their midterm or their final.

Except for CR’s big deal biology class, which is requiring a 20-page paper, notebook and a final on Friday. She was going to talk to the professor yesterday; she feels like she lost at least a week and maybe two with all that has happened.

Very sad. We’re supposed to go down for graduation soon with other family members. My daughter-in-law asked if it would be safe. Uh, yes, Isla Vista is an armed fortress at this time.

She asks for prayer for her community, her fellow students and for help with her final–the final final. CRU has sent us a card with prayer needs; they’re working hard to help the students, but IV is a very sad place right now.

  2. Update on Madison, from her mother:

“Madison is doing well overall. In a lot of pain still. It can be a long recovery. I believe they said 7 to 14 days and days 5 and 7 are the worst. Yesterday by far since surgery was her worst day. She has an appointment today with her general surgeons office because her g-tube is leaking and bloody. We think the pain meds may be irritating her stomach causing the bleeding. It started after surgery.
    Thank you for your prayers!”

  4. Praying for all the requests.

Michelle, I hope the talk with your daughter’s biology professor yielded some workable solutions. When my daughter was hospitalized during part of her schooling, and then needed time off to recover from the mono case she had, she was able to work out a different schedule for finishing the requirements of that term at a later time. Is your daughter able to go through the graduation ceremonies and then complete all her coursework at a later time? I think most schools allow that, if you’re within a certain number of credits of completing all graduation requirements. Is that possible for her, with the plans she’s made for after graduation?

  5. Cheryl spoke with my M-i-L. She is quite ill from the anesthesia, but she’s awake. She needs to stay another day because she was too sick to be up walking and that’s required. We’re praying she feels better tomorrow.

Thanks for your prayers. They are appreciated. 🙂

  6. Good suggestions, 6 Arrows, I think she’ll finish, she’s just concerned at how many of them got distracted by things outside of their control. It’s not a happy place these days.
