  1. 🙂 They’re having a Garden Jubilee in Hendersonville today and tomorrow.
😦 I’m scheduled to go down and keep a parking area for two hours this afternoon.
🙂 The Lions will make a couple of hundred for the foundation from the parking.
🙂 Weather is supposed to be great for the Jubilee.

  3. 😦 Haven’t been to the greenhouse yet for various reasons and I am sure they will be out of a lot of things before we get there.

🙂 Our weather is suddenly gorgeous.

🙂 Husband’s music group had to play outside last night and the weather could not have been better. They will play again tonight on the outdoor patio and it is supposed to be even warmer.

  4. 🙂 Garden put in this week – still just a few more plants to put out

🙂 We have a huge garden

🙂 Sitting outside in the Adirondack chairs watching the skies last night with husband (he had both the large dog and the cat on his lap)

😦 I’ve been sneezing all morning – allergies – I do not like birch trees for that reason

🙂 Temperatures in the 80’s today – thrilled to be able to enjoy them

😦 Have already had to close the windows to keep the cool in and the heat out

🙂 Our close friends sold their house and will be moving closer to us

🙂 Building ladder trellises today for my scarlet runner beans

🙂 Saw the first tip of an asparagus yesterday – can’t wait to eat some

    😦 Mosquitoes are back

  5. 😦 Brand new hose – laid it out and attached it, turned the water on and the end pops off. So much for watering the back garden.

  6. 😦 Seven people were murdered in Santa Barbara last night by the son of one of the directors of The Hunger Games, driving a $40K+ BMW after he posted a video on Youtube complaining sorority girls wouldn’t sleep with him.

🙂 Our daughter was home safe.

🙂 Her friends all appear to be safe, though one of her closest friends was walking down the street when the shooting started and dove into a shop which locked the doors.

😦 What a tragedy that young people know what to do in a shooting: get to a safe place and lock the doors.

😦 Satan has been wildly active in Isla Vista this year–one of the shootings was a block from my daughter’s apartment. I’ve never received so many email from a college before as I have in this one year from UCSB.

🙂 Christian ministry on campus has been very busy this year; a candle light vigil is planned for Tuesday night and expected to be massive. Please pray for the body of Christ in that slammed community.

🙂 I’m thankful she was here with her family and following the news bulletins with her family by her side. Swimming with the adorable nieces and nephew this afternoon followed by dinner with family friends will be good for her, not to mention worship tomorrow in our home church.

🙂 Good tearful prayer time with the Lord for me. Laying the book at his altar and we’ll see what comes next.

🙂 I’m taking the weekend off; just reading, vegging, thinking and praying. Thankful I worship a God who sees and knows all and can be trusted.

  7. 🙂 Sweet day with family. We now have a college graduate!

:/ Long day with family. We didn’t eat “lunch” till about 4:00, since goodbyes took a long time.

😦 For me at least, the joyful day was tempered by seeing two motorcycle accidents on the way home, both of them potentially serious. One had a dead whitetail buck in the road, a motorcycle lying beside the road, a man lying beside the road, and an SUV and other motorcycles stopped (and a civilian or two directing traffic since the police hadn’t arrived yet). I don’t know whether the accident was just motorcycle and deer or another vehicle too. The second accident was on the expressway, man and motorcycle both “lying down” in the center. With multiple police cars, I couldn’t tell if a vehicle was also involved, but an expressway motorcycle accident was likely to be a high-speed crash, and thus both were at least potentially serious, even fatal, accidents. (We could see that the first man was moving his head, so he was still alive at the scene.) My husband said he isn’t sure he’s ever seen even one motorcycle accident before, and I can’t say one way or the other whether I have. But two in one day was a bit disconcerting, and the first one especially so. (I turned my head to avoid seeing details of the dead deer since it looked pretty messy and my husband said “Don’t look” since he knows his girls–including me–are squeamish, and there by the side of the road were a man and a banged-up motorcycle. Yikes.)

🙂 Our student graduated with very good grades and with a probable job–at the moment a temporary one through the summer, but we’re hoping it leads to more.

  8. People are crazy and getting crazier everyday. I am so sorry Michelle. I grew up with a girl who was murdered by her ex-husband. It is something that is hard to wrap your brain around. May God protect your daughter and help her as she returns to school.

  9. 😦 Re: YF (Young Friend, used to be YCF – Young Christian Friend – but I now think she is sadly deluded about still being a Christian). As you may remember, YF is the older sister of Chrissy’s best friend, & the three of them are now sharing a room in their parents’ apartment.

Anyway…She is on a roll again on Facebook, & it seems that she stands against everything I believe, & vice versa.

One recent morning, thinking about all YF had written the night before, & how her views are diametrically opposed to mine, & to almost everything Lee & I tried to teach our daughters about morals & politics, I started to cry out to God for my Chrissy (not that I haven’t done that before). I said to God that YF is working for the enemy, & my “little girl” is not only in the same house with her, but in the same room, & heavily under her influence. Heavily.

Chrissy recently told me how she found she was a lot like a “My Little Pony” character, who was very shy, but had the attitude of, in Chrissy’s words, “Don’t mess with my friends.” I believe she feels more loyalty towards the McKs & her other friends (who are her friends through Best Friend) than she does towards her own family. I think she believes that they understand her & appreciate her more than we do. And I have a suspicion that YF, & maybe Best Friend, too, encourage her in that belief.

She’s in the enemy’s camp, & I want her back.

So, I am praying even more fervently that God would rescue her, & bring her back to Himself, & back home. And that He would peel away the tentacles of influence that YF & Best Friend have on her, open her eyes & help her to “see through” them, so to speak. And a bunch of other stuff, too. 🙂

  10. 🙂 For the first time in a long time, hubby is just resting & relaxing, vegging out on a couple streaming Netflix movies. (He can watch them on the TV, because our Wii, which is connected to the TV, is “connected” to our wi fi.)

  11. 🙂 feeling marginally better, sitting outside and enjoying a cool breeze (but still getting those deep, almost painful coughing spells)

😦 went next door to visit the neighbors’ cat and clean the litter box as they come home Tuesday. That just about wiped me out. I was going to go buy pet food but it can wait.

Good to hear Lee’s getting some rest. Sometimes it’s nice to just ‘veg’ in front of a movie.

  12. 😦 Brother & SIL went to our cousin’s funeral. They didn’t bother to invite me, so I didn’t get to go. (I admit I was nervous about going, for a couple of reasons, but it would have been nice to be asked.) And yes, they would know that I couldn’t get there on my own.

  13. Karen, maybe they figured you didn’t want to go, or that you’d ask if you wanted a ride. I personally would assume that someone wasn’t going, or had alternate transportation, if they didn’t ask for a ride somewhere. (In other words, I’d assume that the person needing the ride would be the one to bring up the need.) I went for quite some time when I had a car and my sister didn’t, and it was up to her to tell me if she needed a ride somewhere, rather than my seeking her out to offer.

  14. Cheryl – That might be it. But in an email, my SIL said she would get back to me with the details of when the funeral was. She never did.

What is behind this is that my brother doesn’t seem to want anything to do with me or my family. This also goes way back to how he felt as a child when I came along. Long story.

I’ve mentioned previously that a couple years ago, they dropped getting together with us over the Thanksgiving & Christmas holidays. Of the two family birthday parties we had for Forrest (1st & 2nd), he didn’t make either one. He was golfing for one, & bowling for the other. His wife & daughter came for a little while.

So I wasn’t surprised SIL didn’t get back to me, but it still stinks.
