The deaths are piling up again. Three weekends, three funerals, I suppose four if you count Jesus, but he, fortunately, did not stay in the tomb!
In the praise category, my husband had a terrific Sunday School class yesterday about the power of the resurrection. Among the third and fourth graders was a child who rarely comes. Being raised by a single mom who has moved far, far from God, this child lost a newly toddling brother to SIDs a year ago. His opening questions were profound and a touch snarky. “Who created God?”
My husband answered everyone to the child’s awe.
A has devout grandparents and great-grandparents praying and desperate for him and his remaining siblings. Please pray that the Word of God will continue to inspire him and meet his questions.
Good morning. I’ll be praying, Anon. My thoughts and prayers are also with many of you as you face potentially severe weather today.
Along those lines, I have two prayer requests. The first is for my niece, R. She has been in Europe for close to 3 months and returns to the US today (the Midwest). Please pray for safe travels for her, and peace of mind for my sister, C, who is a widow and R’s mother. (R is my sister’s only child.)
Please also pray for my friend K. She and her husband and infant are flying home today, crisscrossing the country from Seattle to Atlanta, from where they will drive west to their home in Alabama. K and her family lost their home in the April 27, 2011 tornadoes in the South, and her nine children that are at home right now (ages 3-20) are struggling with fear as they are in a severe weather threat area. Prayers that the Lord would calm their fears, and that the Lord would grant safe travels to K and her husband and baby, and if it be His will, that they would be able to get home today. (They should already be in the air at this time, if all has gone according to schedule so far.)
Please pray for my husband as he has a 2 ½ hour (under normal conditions) drive to the airport this morning. Roads are terrible – wet, heavy snow, slush, rain, mud. I was supposed to lead our ladies’ Bible study this morning, but turned around as the roads were so bad. (I drive a 4-wheel drive and still have my winter tires on).
Prayer please, for seventeen year old daughter, who appears to have cracked her tailbone or pelvis last night playing basketball. She is in some discomfort this morning and I have a dr appt for her at 10;45. Hopefully, the neighbor will be available to take the younger four or they will have to go with us. The boys are off to a track meet this afternoon, which daughter was supposed to be attending. She was looking at going to state but not so much now. Thanks.
We are back. It appears to not be broken but the healing time, and fact that she can barely move, put her out of districts and therefore, out of state. She is okay with that. She had fun taking out the boys in basketball. And I don’t mean dating. Thanks for praying.
Healing time on even a cracked pelvis is long and miserable–one of our major church ladies has been laid up with the same for quite some time. So, prayers for all. How many children do you have with you these days, Mumsee?
Just the nine for now, Michelle. Sixteen year old son gets back from the Challenge in late June though he will be allowed out for a four day visit next month. Husband will be home for that. Prayers appreciated that he will begin to reincorporate.
Anonymous (Michelle, I believe?) – Was that family the one with the mom who writes a blog that my daughter used to read (maybe still does)? From the little bit that I read of it, I had a feeling that that mom would be somewhat difficult to deal with. Prayers for open hearts for all of them.
Please pray for my cousins. My cousin Billy, who lives outside NYC, about to turn 59, is dying of lung cancer. His twin, Artie, who lives in California, has arrived to spend time with Billy, & to say goodbye. Needless to say, Artie is having a very tough time with the impending loss of his identical twin.
Billy, a Catholic, has said a couple things in the past that sounded like he may have saving faith, although he also expressed some bitterness towards his family. (They all had a rough childhood with two alcoholic parents.) Please pray for salvation & comfort for Artie & Billy, & for their two younger brothers, Mike & Tommy, & for my brother Chuck, who has gone down to NY to be with Artie & Billy. Also for a peaceful passing for Billy. Thank you.
Kare, glad your husband got there without incident. Praying, also, Mumsee, Janice and Karen.
Please continue to pray for K and her family. I don’t know if she and her husband (and the baby) are back home yet, and their county is under a tornado watch now. There are counties southwest of them that currently have tornado warnings out, and since the storms tend to move in a northeasterly direction…they’ll be in the line of fire if any tornadoes stay on the ground long enough.
We should remember to pray for KBells and her family, too, as there is a tornado warning for Tuscaloosa County, just southwest of them. (They’re in Birmingham, Jefferson County, aren’t they?)
And no word on my niece yet, either. It’s not likely that tornadoes will be a problem where she would be flying in, but high winds are causing delays for incoming flights at at least two airports that I know of that are likely destinations for her.
Jehovah Jireh, the needs mentioned are many and diverse. You are our provider. You are the only One who loves us without boundaries to Your love. Please keep all safe who are under threat of destructive weather. Please heal those who have Injured themselves in anyway or who are suffering from disease or illness. And above those very imoortant intercessions, I pray the most important prayer for salvation of the lost souls mentioned and for those unmentioned who are heavy upon our hearts daily. Thank You for Your answers to our prayers which we know are best regarding each circumstance. In Jesus’ powerful and saving name, Amen
Power is now out. At least I made coffee before losing power. I even got to drink a cup before Bosley in her usual way was bounding around and probably stuck her paw in the cup which was in her path. Because of the dark house I could not see for sure, but who wants to take a chance and drink coffee that a cat’s paw may have flavored?

Add us to the prayers about bad weather. Our home is in poor condition so I always feel apprehensive during storms.
Praise for Bosley being back at home and asleep on her overstuffed couch
(that would be me).
