Prayer Requests 4-11-14

Would anyone like to share a request or praise today?

And it’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the nestlings. 🙂

Psalm 79

¹O god, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps.

The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and there was none to bury them.

We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

How long, Lord? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.

10 Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the revenging of the blood of thy servants which is shed.

11 Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die;

12 And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13 So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations.

  1. Prayers, please, for safe travels. I’m headed to my niece’s college about noon today. It’s a three and a half hour drive. Also, please pray our visit would go well. I know my niece (HG) must be disappointed, as my sister was going to attend, but she missed her flight. HG has some emotional issues and has struggled at college socially (this is her first year). She’s doing extremely well academically, but has few friends and rarely does anything other than study. I’ve tried to be a source of support for her, but she’s been distant.

My sister has always said that HG and I are very similar people. When she visited over Christmas, I thoroughly enjoyed her company, so am looking forward to spending this weekend with her.

Recently, I’ve been having a lot of migraines, so prayers that my head wouldn’t hurt this weekend would be greatly appreciated. They are usually worst in the mornings, and Saturday there is a brunch at nine a.m.

    Thanks!

  2. I love that AJ prompts us to pray for “our people”. Wednesday is The Gambia, Thursday is PNG, and Friday is The Nest. What should we do on Monday and Tuesday?

  3. Please pray for my friend Jenn, whom I’ve mentioned several times in the past. She is having yet again another major surgery (she barely survived the last one) to repair a hole in her intestines. She also has had an infection that continues to grow out of control, despite several rounds of strong antibiotics.

And please pray for salvation & comfort for her husband Rich, & her children, Kaitlyn (grown up) & Chris (senior in high school). Also, Jenn really, really wants to be strong enough to attend Chris’ graduation coming up in a couple months.

    Thanks!

  4. The results of Lee’s CT scan are in. No abnormalities detected! Yay! Praise God!

We won’t have the whole picture for a while yet, though, because Lee wasn’t able to have the bone scan Wednesday. He hadn’t written down that he was supposed to get an injection a couple hours before the procedure, so he goes back for that next Wednesday.

Thanks for all your prayers. We are feeling cautiously optimistic now, & I’ve stopped feeling like crying all the time. 🙂

  5. Such good news, Karen, that it almost brought the other kind of tears to my eyes.

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with opportunities to pray. I do much better writing prayers than praying in front of a group although in the past five years or so I have learned to be fine with praying with a small group at a round table on Wed. evening.

Christian Library International does an event, Prayer at the Prison Gate in Dec. when a local group gathers and prays and sings carols near the fence or walls of a prison so hopefully the prisoners will be blessed to hear it. I have been asked to work on getting people involved in the Atlanta area. There is also another opportunity to be a prayer coordinator between my church and a church plant so our church would partner to pray over their efforts. I obviously have some skills that will be effective in making these things happen, but I am not the kind who can do things without gentle exposurd in little things to build up confidence to do bigger things. I do see the need is there. Please pray forGod’s wisdom in discerning my role and how He wants me to move forward.

Also, I am really stressed from finding out my husband is not taking his medication for his thyroid. He ran out and they would not fill it because they said he HAD TO see the doctor first. Since the prescribing doc has moved on, he does not have a doc and he ssys he does not have time right now to see the doc. That is true given the work load. Please pray he will not have sdrious complications ffom not taking his med.

    Thank you for your prayers.
