First, I’m praising God for the wonderful husband I have. We sat down last night to discuss where to allocate our income tax refund money, but also discussed lots more things related to finances, home management, family routines, Bible study together, and the like. We had a great talk and accomplished a lot through it.
My request is that you pray for wisdom as we consider whether or not to proceed with one of the things we talked about, namely my beginning to offer piano lessons to the public again. It’s been almost 11 years now since I resigned from that, but last night hubby mentioned the possibility of my going back to that again. If I did, it would help take some pressure off of him, as he has essentially two ways he’s earning income, his full-time job, and a side business where he buys older vehicles, repairs them, then resells at a profit. It is consuming a lot of his time, and my teaching for pay would help ease his load.
He also believes, and I agree, that having people coming to the house would be a good social outlet for me (taking a little time to talk with the parents when they bring their children to lessons), which I enjoyed in my earlier piano teaching years.
We need to consider, though, whether I have time enough for family and homeschooling responsibilities along with teaching others piano. Home and family come first, and I want to use my time effectively to meet those needs.
Prayers for wisdom, please, as I seek to find balance with being a good help meet to my husband and mom to my kids, along with possibly serving others through a piano-teaching business. Thank you!
BTW, regarding my reference to my husband’s thoughts about teaching again giving me a good social outlet: He recognizes that my interacting with you here also provides an enjoyable time of adult conversation and fellowship with other believers while he is gone. He’s in favor of that — he’s not asking me to discontinue online relationships if I start teaching piano again — but increased time with face-to-face, non-family relationships will most certainly lessen the amount of time I’ll have available to be on here. There would be more of a balance between online and in-the-flesh interactions with other adults than there is now. I hardly ever see any of my local friends or acquaintances except at church on Sundays.
C came to my ladies’ Bible study this morning. She was very open with everyone, saying she wanted to make her marriage work but J wants a divorce. Please pray that God will convict J and help turn this relationship around. Please also pray for my husband who is J’s boss, that he will provide good advice and leadership and counselling should the opportunity arise. C was in church yesterday, as was J but he left immediately after. I believe he is feeling guilty for what he did and is trying to make it right in his own mind.
6arrows, it sounds like you might be ready to give it a shot. You could always start with only a few students, until you know how it will affect your home/family life 🙂
A praise and a request.

That’s a good point, Kare, starting small and only gradually building up a roster of students in an attentive manner.
