Prayer Requests 3-8-14

Anyone have a request or praise to share today?

Psalm 43

¹Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

For thou art the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I praise thee, O God my God.

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

  1. Lifting Hannah up today.

Prayers for C as she continues to come to the retreat.
Prayers for me as I really dislike these kinds of retreats.

I only recognized about 15 faces there. I got a feeling a bunch of the ladies were retreat groupies, going from one retreat to another for the emotional high. I hope not…

  2. Please pray for my friend, Karen. I saw her yesterday and she did not seem quite right. She is sometimes on oxygen and I am thinking she was a bit short on it yesterday. Lots of sadness in her isolated life. I took a Bible to her yesterday that she requested I order for her. She has trouble seeing so I got one that will be easier to read.

  3. Also, the stresses of tax season always snowball around this time especially with corporate deadlines. Prayers for husband and office mates. Good relationships, accuracy, efficiency, and thoroughness that gets more refunds than payments due (happy clients).

Praise God husband quickly got over stomach bug!

  4. I know I have lots of requests today, but may I add that I am having trouble deciding on a Sunday evening Discipleship experience. I have three to choode from. First is about finding what you are gifted to do in servive to others. It is typically with older adultds and what I choose. Second is a ladies’ Beth Moore class which I expect will have the young moms in it. Last is a hands on intown mission experience doing Back Yard typr program for needy children. I think I would help with games. Youth, from what I have heard, do a drama for the Bible story.

Since I already work with children in the a.m. and I don’t feel that I am really needed for the missions experience I have not felt very called to do that. The Bible study would be good but it costs to buy the book and probably invoves a lot of daily study. I already have other things I am studying daily. But, I feel like I already know my areas of gifting for service. So there you see my dilemma. I don’t want to waste God’s time or my own. I could look to see what other churches in the area are offering, but that doesn’t feel quite right.

  5. Janice – You could choose to stay home & continue studying the things you already study, for this period of time. There’s no command in the Bible that one must attend Sunday night service as well as Sunday morning. (That can sound kind of snarky, but that’s not how I mean it.)

  6. Janice, knowing a little of your gifts, you could chose to stay at home or at church and be the silent prayer warrior for each of the classes.

  7. Please pray for me today. There is a wall up at home that needs to come down, the sooner the better. Pray for wisdom in my words when it’s time to speak, and willingness to listen when that is what is needed. (And the discernment to know which to do when.) Thank you.

  8. OK, I did it. I spoke briefly (only one sentence, in fact), and the response was…

    no response…

until about 10 minutes later… an equally brief (and also a positive) response.

If any of you saw my request and prayed, thank you. And thanks be to God.

I am relieved to be heading off to worship now with that resolved.
