Prayer Requests 1-23-14

Who would like to share a request or praise with us today?

Psalm 4

¹Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.

But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.

  1. I posted earlier this week about a young lady, FYG, who had a skating accident last weekend and broke her leg in four places. Today she has surgery. Please pray for her, and her mother, as well, who is rightfully, IMO, infuriated at some of the so-called medical “care” her daughter has received. In the mother’s words in her post two days ago, she said, “I am absolutely, utterly, totally and completely furious and seething, and I am only holding it in until surgery, after which we will be pursuing this and heads had better roll.”

More information (six posts so far), with pictures, some of which are graphic, can be found at the following link:

P.S. The mother’s most recent post is a lighthearted “Amusing Things To Do In The Hospital”, so she is able to see some humor in the situation, despite the problems with some of the staff.

  2. KIm, that’s exactly the way I did my entire career.
I went after every opportunity, but I prayed about it and went through every door that was open.
It worked well. But I had to be pushed through one. I had thought of not applying for the job in the Dept. of Geodesy. It turned out to be the best.

  3. Heavenly Father,

You always work overtime and don’t get overtime pay! Thank You for always being on call no matter the day or hour. Thank You for Your listening ear and guiding words and healing ways.

I lift up to You FYL who has been in such a difficult situation with the broken leg and the people who have been fearsome of acting because of our flawed medical liability system. Despite the seeming negligence, I pray the surgeon will be able to make more than a suitable repair. Please guide the surgeon’s hands and the assistant’s skills so there is a smooth flow during surgery. Keep the girl’s mom calm and relaxed, at peace, during and after surgery. I ask foe an excellent outcome, even better than thought possible. You know best what needs to happen so I trust in Your goodness to see this family through to brighter days ahead.

Abba, I ask for You to help Kim in her decision making. Give her divine guidance and vision to be aware of any hazards along with the benefits of this new position. Help her to feel at ease about her decision.

Lord, I ask that You help Donna and her co-workers as they struggle as if on a sinking ship. Help her to know of her value despite sinking resources that do not pay or recognize with benefits her full worth. I pray for management to make wise decisions and keep the staff informed. Help Donna to trust in Your provision even if it should be through some other means than she ever thought of. Bless her today and refresh her with an extra dose of Your felt goodness today.

Thank You for Your caring and guidance reigning over the Nest today. Meet the needs of each child where they are at and give patience to Mumsee and Mike when they are trying to work out difficulties brought into the home from the children’s past pain and trust issues. Especially help the one who is afraid of illegal aliens to have understanding of her faulty thinking and to find Your trugh to set her free.

Bless all the husbands who have health issues, financial burdens, job stresses and any relationship problems at work, home or in the community. May Your peace rise up in their hearts and help them deal with all sources of conflict in a loving Christian manner.

Praying as always in the precious name of Jesus, Amen

  4. They want to do my second interview tomorrow rather than next week. Again , I just want the right thing to happen. I am scared and excited. A friend just told me I sound happier than I have in a long time. Thanks I. Advance for the prayers.

  5. I agree with Chas. Praying for guidance for you, that thinking about the right decision will bring you peace, & thinking about the wrong decision will bring a sense of unease.

  6. I just had to praise God this afternoon through tears in how His timing is always perfect.

I went down to the mailbox, and among other things there was a card from my Uncle B. He had not sent a card at Christmas like he usually does (and he lives far away, so we don’t seem him often), so I assumed it was late Christmas greetings.

When I got in the house, I turned over the envelope to open it, and on the back he had written something I had trouble deciphering. (Uncle B is suffering from dementia, and, though he was able to address the envelope correctly that it got here, what he had written on the back, like a lot of things he’s written in the last few years, was hard to figure out.) In shaky handwriting, he appeared to have written “late belt”, followed by three exclamation points.

I opened up the envelope, and inside was a card with a beautiful poem by Emily Matthews entitled “God’s Tapestry”. After the poem were printed greetings that said, “Have a Very Happy Birthday and a Wonderful Year”, which were followed by my uncle’s signature and his phone number.

My birthday was last September. I wondered today if the “late belt” on the envelope was his way of trying to say these were late or belated birthday greetings (like he was thinking of saying one or the other word, but instead put both, with “belated” missing a few letters). But the envelope was addressed to both my husband and me, so maybe he thought he was sending a Christmas card but had instead mailed a birthday card.

It is a sad thing to contemplate his mental decline, and yet receiving that card at this exact time was a blessing from the Lord beyond anything I could have imagined. I have had a very difficult week, in tears often with various challenges, and the words of the poem in that card were exactly what I needed at this time. Here is the first two-thirds of the poem: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/21744010673958015/

    followed by the last third:

Have faith in God’s great goodness,
keep Him first in all you do,
    Pray for understanding
of His grand design for you,
Give thanks for all His blessings
    and live each day joyfully,
    Remembering you’re a special part
    of God’s own tapestry.

Don’t you just love how God works? He is worthy of our praise.

Could you say a little prayer for my Uncle B, too? Thank you, all.

  8. 6 Arrows – Does your uncle have someone living with him to help him? We took care of my MIL in our home for a little over four years. She very much needed the help, but she didn’t realize she did.

  9. Karen, thanks for showing concern for my uncle. I should have shown a lot more concern for him than I did in my post. He’s going through something much more difficult than the stress I have that made me appreciate the words of the poem in the card. 😦
