  1. 😦 The cold weather from early in the week has clashed with the warm weather moving in. We had thunderstorms, pelting rain, and wind gusts most of the night and it is still raining. I am doing another open house in this mess.

🙂 At least it isn’t freezing cold and raining like this!

  2. 🙂 You’d think Chas was a first time father or grandfather. But this is a great grandchild! Don’t worry, Chas. In my experience the due date was an educated guess. The only children I know of who arrived on the date were scheduled Cesarean deliveries.

🙂 A nice weekend weather wise around here. We are actually going to have a few days above freezing!

😦 Of course, that means possible flooding with the snow melt. Yesterday we had thunderstoms and about an inch of rain. Some street drains were clogged with piled-up snow, which did cause some streets to flood. But I’ll take it. I kept saying to myself, if we had that much precipitation as snow, it would pile up to around 10 inches.

🙂 An auctioneer is coming today to see if our house would sell better that way. The realtor thinks it’s a good idea. The sale wouldn’t be until March, though.

  3. 🙂 We had some real beauty this week.

🙂 I have a husband for my first experience of being snowed in (I didn’t leave the house–well, the house or the yard, anyway–from Sunday to Thursday, and he didn’t until Tuesday).

🙂 Everyone in our family stayed safe, even with power being out in town for seven hours during the coldest portion.

🙂 Our adventure-loving daughter had some adventures close to home; she worked over the weekend and stayed in town (at work, at her grandparents’), but she stayed safe.

🙂 Our less adventuresome daughter had two days of college classes cancelled.

😦 Church was cancelled last week and the church dinner postponed.

😦 Apparently peanut butter doesn’t like my husband anymore; he isn’t allergic, but it’s making him sick.

🙂 I got some really spectacular photos during the snowstorm, from snow on the trees to a spectacular sunrise, from 14 species of birds in our bird-feeder tree to a rabbit feeding from the sunflower seeds underneath it, from vast snowscapes to details of ice crystals.

🙂 The snow is melting! We finally stayed above freezing all day yesterday and then had some rain. I’d guess that a third of the snow is gone, maybe even half.

😦 Sometimes I wonder where weather.com gets its data. It’s showing .56 inches of precipitation last Sunday (none for Saturday or Monday). Yes, I know it takes a lot of snow to equal an inch of rain, but we got roughly a foot of snow.

  4. 🙂 Today I am going to a birthday party for my big brother. He is a good guy…now. This is a big surprise to me considering what an evil bratpest he was growing up. 🙂

  5. 😦 Meetings nearly every day this week for church, PCC, webpage redesign, you name it. VERY busy week after a glorious vacation. I struggled with my attitude at every single one!.

🙂 But I don’t have any more meetings until next month!

🙂 Life is good, even if I do have to attend a funeral and a woodwind rehearsal today. (OK, one more meeting).

  6. I don’t hate you, it is nearly as warm here. In the fifties. The sun is shining. Of course, we cannot see it as there is a heavy cloud cover but there is a nice wind blowing. I love the wind.

  7. 😦 My dad is not feeling well again. He has a birthday in a few days. I just finished a batch of the cookies he loves and found out when I called to bring them over, that he is going to the emergency room again. Would appreciate prayers for him.

🙂 The warm up is nice.

🙂 The cold is nice for staying in and getting things done that have been on the list for quite awhile now.

  8. 🙂 Saturday. And sleeping in.

🙂 Busy week with stories and a long video editing training session. The mobile apps make this stuff pretty easy. So now we’re all budding movie-makers.

😦 It’s too dry out here. We need rain. But the temperatures are pleasant, in the 70s, with nights still getting chilly and into the low 50s — which, of course, is the “high” where mumsee is.

🙂 Looking forward to church tomorrow, we’re still in Romans. And we’re sponsoring a 3-night “end times” conference late this month, with one of the nights devoted to a friendly, in-house “family” debate between our pastor (post-mil) and a pastor from another church in the area (pre-mil of the dispensationalist variety). They think it’ll be a packed house for that night, so they told us to be sure to register early which I did.

🙂 A list of “to do” stuff for today — picking up dog flea meds (and that’s for the dogs, for any of you wise guys out there), getting my hair trimmed, picking up the living room (oy, stuff must multiply when I’m asleep at night) & taking the outdoor Christmas lights down. Yes, I’m one of “those” people. But hey, at least I’m not turning them on anymore like a couple of my other neighbors. 🙂 Christmas lights long after Christmas is over just don’t have the same effect.

😦 They wrecked one of our bird feeders

🙂 Lunch out with husband today and then to his office to re-arrange it so that it functions better for him.

    🙂 Heavy snowfall tonight

🙂 Toddler room tomorrow in church

🙂 Great ladies’ Bible study this week

🙂 Wolf tracks close by our place

    🙂 Warmer temperatures

  10. My husband battles the deer over our bird feeder. They come for crab apples, which is fine. He puts his foot down with the feeder and sprays it with coyote urine or some such thing. It does seem to help. I would rather have that problem than the bears. So far, so good about that.

  11. 😦 We’re missing church for the second week in a row. Last week it was cancelled due to weather. This week we all woke up sick /fighting illness. Me, I don’t think I’m actively sick (the others are), but between a sore throat and iffy roads (it’s right at freezing after all this snow has been melting), I chose to stay home too.

🙂 Misten is happy to have more of her backyard back. She has even been walking across the deck, which is still covered pretty deeply in spots.

  12. I missed church today due to a twelve year old temper tantrum. I kept a seventeen year old girl home in the event I needed somebody to call the sheriff dept. She said she would take him out before she called if he so much as looked like he might be thinking of hurting me. It is nice to be loved. She could do it, easily.

  13. Whew, a 12-year-old tantrum. 😉

😦 I went to church (and it was good, as always), but I shouldn’t have. I think I may be coming down with one of my very rare cases (I get it every 25 years, it seems) of the flu — felt fine this morning but as I was driving to pick up my ride, I began to sneeze violently. Then felt ‘drippy’ all through the service, my throat slowly tightening up, a little weak all over, beginnings of a headache.

😦 And if it is the flu, I just hope I didn’t wind up passing it on to too many people, including the 90+ year old man who insists on shaking hands and my ride, who’s 82. 😦 Ugh. But by the time I realized I was getting sick, the service was well underway. Picked up some chicken noodle soup and Nyquil on the way home, probably will spend the afternoon in bed. If it’s the flu, I’ll know soon enough. Last time I had it, in the 1980s, it slammed me so hard within just a few hours that there was little doubt about what I had.

🙂 So far, though, no fever, just took my temperature and it’s a bit below normal. I was just thinking about getting a flu shot the other day, too.

  14. 🙂 Missed church this morning – I was in the toddler room!

🙂 Such cute, cuddly babies, busy toddlers and fun co-workers. It was an exhausting but wonderful morning.

🙂 Roads were terrible today – we got there and home just fine with our all wheel drive and winter tires

    😦 12 year temper tantrums

😦 sick blog members – get better quickly everyone

  15. michelle, seems like the swine flu is making a reappearance this year. I rarely get the flu (or flu shots), but I was thinking of getting the shot this time around. There have been some scary cases out there.

  16. I was just ill for about ten days with something. Started with headache and bad sore throat. Followed by tough cough and the dripping nose. Temp went down, some aches and pains. They gave me a flu shot anyway so, I thought it could have been the flu, but they did not seem to think so. I have never gotten a flu shot before but in the interest of keeping up with the children….

  17. Jo – Well, AJ starts off every prayer thread asking, “Who would like to share a request or praise today?” So your comment on not being able to outgive God was in the right place after all. 🙂

😦 Repeated falling off the wagon with goals I make. I’m so bad at consistency in follow-through

🙂 Repeatedly falling off the wagon means I have repeatedly gotten back on instead of staying in the dirt (or snow) 😉 God’s grace in action. 🙂

🙂 His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness!
